Lodden for me lads. Been baiting a few likely spots that produced top fish last season so hoping the same again. Atb

I work a bull/greyhound to the gun and has been used alongside a mates red tail. The fella had a pointer x and a spaniel and neither were as keen as my dog especially when it came to real thick bramble. Only thing is if you live in an area with a high density of Muntjac be prepared for a boot full of the critters !!! Atb This is a point on a pheasant And even as a young dog loved to get stuck in cover no matter how thick

Very nice. Atb

do you think that eventually with most gos being bred from imprinted stock, that eventually they will loose their natural spookiness? and become more stabilised overall, Im talking successful imprints being bred by those whom fulfil the birds mind with hunting as opposed to breeders who simply chamber them breed em? eventually turning out slightly more manfriendly stable hawks of this type? My knowledge of falconry is very limited but surely thats how it should be with any animal bred for purpose ?

What Lurcher X Wouldn't You Keep ?
fitchet replied to **Lurcherman**'s topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
Gud to see you keep ya options open :0For me its heavy collie saturated temp just does me nut in, they work well enough just they wind me up in there mannerisms. Im in a position where i can afford to be fussy... I think collie blood isnt enough on its own but is ok as part of a mix,Cant stand bedlington blood and i prefer native x's to be just that... I also think sal x's and bull x's can be usefull animals in their own right Out of interest why not the beddie blood ? -

NEW RULES , STATE WHAT YOUR LAND IS LIKE AND IS YOUR QUARRY THE KIND THAT BITES BACK< i know Horses for courses but it gives an idea why poeple dont like certain crosses , i know poeple arent agreeing with you on beddy x whippets but like thats their view and thats there view so settle it with them Pre ban through the course of a season i do abit of everything from ferreting to daytiming hares foxing and just mooching to see what we can knock over. I own 3 different crosses and all 3 give a 100% on everything. Thats the main thing. Atb -
I have one here not the best but a trier. Spends his days mooching and fishing now but still puts stuff in the bag on the odd occasion.

Theres exceptions to every x but the only one i dont see any point in at all is beddie whippets. I wouldnt ever own a whippet/greyhound either. Apart from that id give any type or x a go. -
My sort of dog that mate he's built like a tank. Was he from Hancock ??
-
Was he the one selling poodle crosses for £650 a pup ?

I think some peoples only dislike. . . . . is simply not wishing to buy a pup from a puppy farm that always has pups available. And it is their 'right' to feel that way. Also, I think that in the right hands, a very high percentage of collie x greys, whoever bred them, will kill rabbits for you. It's each to their own. Any lurcher in rights hands should kill rabs even the crappest of sorts Exactly mate most dogs should be able to catch a couple of rabbits on the lamp it doesn't mean there gooduns. I have a dog here who isn't directly from him but his granddam and grandsire were. I

Dogs that fight and cause damage such as what has happened in this case are a liability, unless you have a fondness for expensive vet bills and dead dogs. true , it comes down to kennel managment,? all dogs should have there (own) space.Any dog can kick off (back of a car etc ...) but when they know who the (boss) it might think twice about fighting. If it been my saluki x i would give the fecker a good hiding, it might have not had a go if it knew what would happen. Ive had all types, pits ,bullxs, colliexs etc no prob they know who boss of the kennels .Just beacuse it hot, no work ,do

Some on here will probably disagree but IMO persistent offenders should be pts. I agree mate as i said before theres a difference between a dog being possessive over a hard earned kill and a bully of a dog. A fighter wouldnt last long in my kennels ....

PH. Now thats a very nice sort, that is the exact type of thing i would love to put my coursing dog over. Judging by the background they work well in heavy cover ? Was working with a coursing man the last few days and we were saying how bad the stone is in some parts round here. Without the right type of dog they are un runable id say. Some nice dogs northernlite and tough terrain too. All the best.

The Beddy X Whippet - The Greatest Dog In The World?
fitchet replied to Ideation's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
Ive seen a couple ferreting and lamping rabbits. They wouldnt suit me purely becuase of there size. Ive seen it a few times beams on the rabbit dog slipped for it to trot 5 yards infront totally confused. Another thing is alot of people big up a rough coat. But if its the soft sort a dog can get cut just as much, And also from my experince every single one ive seen with a good dose of bedlington has been a cruncher of rabbits and birds. Once went out with a lad who had a 3/4 beddie, i was asked to clear some rabbits for a local farmer. The dog was fine with the ferrets until the
