  1. Don't get it cut or burnt its a lot of hassle as it gets into nets/dogs. I normally have a couple of good sensible dogs purse net a few holes net the runs with purse or poke nets and run out a few stop nets. It's all trial and error buts it's good fun. Atb
  2. Strong pup that has a nice look about him. I've seen a few real nice pups this year that are forward and have something about them. I'm looking forward to the next couple of seasons to see how they do. All the best with him.

Real travellers don't brag or show off what they are. We had some near us a couple of days ago nothing went missing and they didn't leave any rubbish. I know some traveling boys that I wouldn't spit on if they were on fire but I also have some real good friends who are traveling lads. Good in bad in all walks of life. And as for them bieng dirty ive seen some disgusting houses but I've never seen a dirty trailer owned by a traveler they are sparkling. I've felt bad for going in for a cup of tea after a night out a few times and I've always been welcomed into there homes even when covered in mu
  4. I've bought 2 adult dogs in my life one of them after a lot of time and patience was brilliant and the other was half decent but was killed. I'd never buy another adult in though. Atb
  5. Fair play mate its nice to get a dog out early and we all bring them on in different ways. All the best.
  6. Theres a field near me that has abit of bog running through the middle. Ive seen hares long jump it wheres it 5/6 ft in places. Seen them jump 3 ft fencing effortlessly aswell. Atb
  7. I find smallish fields more of a pain than bigger clearer land mostly because if the dog enters one of the small spinneys dotted about all over the place it can often end the day there likey to push deer out and the dog i have here suffers from "buck fever " which can be a pain at times, thats if they dont get shredded by barbed wire ,...
  8. I agree with that good post mate, Atb
  9. Thats what i mean mate but some will say it takes more to catch them in fields as your dogs have got to end the course quick. I remember seeing a bitch bred to run fens in fields if hare hit cover she would pounce and force it back out. Ive seen mine do on lamped rabbits but not on hares., Wherever you run them no winter hare is easy in my opinion. Atb
  10. a friend was telling me the other day he used to run a place on the fens were they were small but could really run, when he first went there one jumped he thought was a leveret but he didnt think it 4/5 mins later Ido you remember that one your black bitch ran on that old airfield ?? It might have just been me but that one looked smaller than average but it ran well,
  11. The best hares are on the fens ive been told but the fields are a different sort of test. It doesnt matter to me personally if theres hares on it ill run it. Atb
  12. When i was keepering in lambourn we never shot many but the niebouring farms wanted every single one killed. Due to people driving the land. Atb There was more subaru legacy per square mile in lambourn than any other part of the country Was sat up near combe gibbet last november was dozens of lamps flickering about.but it seems the lads looking for a run or two in daylight that get in the most shit. We let them get on with it if they were walking and many a keeper since has done the same for me .... Atb

  18. I keep my horses on watership down and the last few weeks the dogs have picked up a few with mixy but there seems to be more and more of them surviving it these days.
  19. falconers have got to follow the general licence aswell and it's your responsibility to make sure nothing like that happens so yes you would be liable as the buzzards arent on the license. its just like keeping eagles for fox hunting with hounds its wrong, there only seen as a loophole and not used as theres supposed to just like what your suggesting. How is it wrong ? It's keeping within the law as we are all supposed too ....
