Ive killed hares on the lamp loads of times. Ive killed them in the daytime even more. I dont lamp the hares on my permission though as id rather save them for my coursing dogs. Anywhere else i have a run. Seen and owned some shit dogs that could kill them on the lamp. They make mistakes and dither but then so does any animal on the lamp. I know certain lads who run coursing blood on the lamp and think there dogs are good when theyve caught a few. But in all honesty who gives a shit get on with your hunting enjoy your dogs have the craic dont get jealous or spiteful and kill everything qu

Very nice mate. How tall is he mate ?

its simple really buy a pup out of parents that are running and catching regular near you.Lol thats the thing mate NOBODY has a dog like that round here. They are "second rate" dogs. I have one here that will kill a few happily but hes too keen on deer wich is something i will get out of the new pup. Atb I know i met the dogs owner and a couple of others over east isley way stopped and asked me about my own dog. They seemed impressed with him when i put him behind one. Like i said my own dog can kill plenty on fields but hes too keen on deer and has skin like paper. You know yourself alot of f

What Age Does A Coursing Pup Stop Being A Pup.
fitchet replied to nans pat's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
All dogs are different mine has caught a few now but he is still very puppyish especially round the mrs. When she takes him out with her bull terrier she says all he does is f**k about but when hes out with my other dogs he is abit more switched on. But i think by 2 if they arnt doing the job consistently and i dont mean killing the odd one or 2 i mean consistently killing then they wont ever make the grade imo. -
But who really needs a first cross these days with the qmount of saluki saturated dogs about that are better than any pure ive seen ?

I have no hesitation on sending a dog to move on cattle. Ive done it a few times the worst bieng when my bull x pulked a roe in a field full of them with calves. I geed on the other dog to move them but he proceeded to get a hold on the deer. Its safe to say if the dogs hadnt dragged it through a fence they would be trampled. One of my dogs here will not let any big animal too close. Hes moved my horses on a few times taking a few kicks in the process.

Whats With All The Out Of Season Hunting?
fitchet replied to lurcher666phil's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
I wouldnt dream of hunting hares or any pregnant animal purposefully during the summer months. However there are no shortage of rabbits where iam they dont get hammered but if the dogs catch a couple on a mooch i dont lose any sleep over it. I have a nice bit of land where munties are a real problem and they get dealt with most of the year round. Its not a nice job sometimes and i wouldnt dream of posting or bragging about it. Same with rabbits. Im still out in the dead of winter working the dogs thats the mqin thing, -
I know what you lads are saying about most waters, it can get tedious when theres lads there getting smashed and having a party, but there are a few waters dotted around where you arnt likely to see many anglers at all. Im fishing one at the minute. Its about 20 acres with 2 known 30s and pretty fish they are too. I have seen one person so far and he was a pike fisherman. So they are about .....

The vet said leave it as it is but its deffinitly affecting the dog. He took it out tonight and just txt me saying its f***ing with the dogs turning ability.frustrating as its a handy mutt.

Nice bit of luck there mate. I could only imagine the damage to the poor fellers garden !! whilst out walking the dogs today. The bull\grey is allways in out the ditches. There was a big munty buck all bloated in one of the smaller streams. Never seen this before. Lord knows how it ended up there. Often find them in the local canal as they cant climb the steep sides but never in a shallow stream.

I know of the dogs your talking about .... Very impressive animals ..... And something which i hope to aim for when i eventually come to breed my coursing dog to real vermin catcher half x bitch. I just hope if any pups make the grade i can do them justice. Atb

Mine are out as soon as they get there jabs. Taking them through woods and fences letting them get accustomed to the sights and smells of the outdoors. I dont do much formal training anymore as long as recall is spot on and they walk well on the lead. I also like to get pups chasing rabbit skin dummies around the garden. Pre-ban any hares or deer the older dogs knocked over the pups are introduced to. I bielive it just accustomed the dog to the smell tastes ect so when the time does come they sort of know what it is. Socialisation is a big thing for me as fighters are no good to me. I run

I run with a bitch regular who is mainly saluki whippet. Good on rabbits and lamped hares but i havent seen her kill a hare in daytime. Nice dog mate how old is it and have you got any better pics ?

Another first for me yesterday. A cat. Last time i ever try to untangle one of those !

Last season i had a run in with the police and RSPCA. Accidents do happen with dogs especially with the amount of deer about these days. I used to take my lurchers and bull terrier around the outskirts of an old tip where i used to live. It was very populer with dog walkers even at 6am when i used to walk round. Anyway one morning was doing the usual walk now up intil this point i hadnt even seen a rabbit or muntjak on this bit of land so i assumed my pack of dogs would be fine of the lead. Thats until one morning a young roe decided to jump up infront of all 3 lurchers and the terrier.
