    you've seen collies trained as protection dogs? yep they do train collies as pp dogs ask someone in the know ... the only reason i know is a member on this site told me Yep. I have seen some vicious collies kept on farmland. You would be a brave man to confront one. would the average border collie stand up to an 18 stone man booting it though? fair enough it'd give you a nasty bite but I wouldn't have thought they were big enough to be a proper protection dog?

    you've seen collies trained as protection dogs? or just the nervy, nasty, snappy types? I wouldn't want that trait in any dog, not a chance!! some of the collies I've seen are proper unpredictable, they're sort of half cowering and you never know when the fookin things are going to snap.

    anyone else find it quite amusing when someone calls themselves 'hardcore terrier man', 'lurchers born and bred', 'born to dig' or whatever and then puts up their first post saying they've just got into it and what's the best breed for rabbiting etc.?

    the other thing is, this country is in a right state at the moment, and probably will be for quite some time......ferreting and ratting shouldn't even be in the thinking of any politician, how can that possibly be even worthy of a mention in the current climate???? illegal immigrants, mass unemployment, financial crisis, global warming...............sod all that, arthur killed a rat with his jack russell, it's an outrage, we must get into power and do something about that!!!!

    I find it quite amusing that in the wake of the realisation that a ban that they introduced is unenforcable and a complete waste of money, they want to throw even more money down the drain by banning the humane hunting of two of the biggest pest species in the country. Why in gods name would they even consider banning the hunting or rats??? astonishing!

    I don't have mine on a slip, but I will have one in my pocket. Most of the time everything is fine, she'll walk to heel and only go when I tell her to....and then every now and again she'll have a knobhead day, will get a bit too keen and will decide she'll give my patience a bit of a test, just for a laugh. So then I'll stick her on the slip for the rest of the night just so the day doesn't end badly for one of us
