  1. the teddies bounce too much mate. the gundog dummy was good when we first tried it, but wont be any good for the turns, it will knock them over. this is what we used succesfully for months in the summer. its made out of barrier tape and a bottle top. works great if only i can make it a little heavier to drag a bit more. Do the dogs chase that time and time again?..... Ofcourse they chase it. They chase anything that moves! Its exciting to them, played about with them since they where 7 weeks old. Different things. Rabbits skins, rags, sandbags, teddies. If it moves across the grou

  3. different dogs develop at different rates, my lurcher still looked like a scrawny puppy at 12 months and yet I've seen a picture of her sire at 11 months and he was very well muscled. What are you feeding her on? I wouldn't worry about it, definitely too young to be doing any proper exercise....just let her be a puppy, you wouldn't be worrying about your sons muscle mass at the age of 12 or 13 would you!
  4. wig from fancy dress shop or ebay, with a ledger weight or two tied to the cord for a bit of weight. and if a member of the public questions it just tell them you stole it from your granny 6 months ago and she hasn't been able to leave the house since, tell them all lurcher owners do things like that
  5. it's similar to watching them work in the day....only darker
  6. Would certainly consider it Laurie. How's things? Not heard from you in a while. Just getting out once a week with the ferrets, as ive managed to talk my better half into being my apprentice, It means not a lot of Bunnies, as she thinks ferreting is boring, and after a couple of hours wants to go home, Tried to pm you but couldn't get through, is your box full? easy solution to that bud ......one of the main reasons why I like ferreting (and fishing!) on my own, nothing worse than being well up for a few hours out doing either and someone asking "what time are we going" every 5
  7. so you're saying a jimny goes off road beyond where a defender would go?? and your first sentence makes no sense at all....how can it be too small? easily, by being too small
  8. you can use the mk3 collars with the mk1 box I would, definitely. I like it's simplicity, had mk3s in the past but sold them and am sticking to mk1.
  9. you need to either upload the pics onto photobucket and then copy the image link on here, or reduce the size of the picture to less than 200k and then add as an attachment. You might need to click 'more reply options' on the bottom right of the screen to get the attach button up
  10. or night lites what anglers use thats exactly what ive used in the past to good effect. SCRAMBLE that's a crackin idea, what do you do, glue a small piece of tubing to the collar and stick a float tip in?
  11. 3 or 4 border collie owners used to meet up at a field near my ma and pas and would do a sort of agility thing....nothing major, just 2 or 3 hurdles and a couple of rings. Some wanker busybody phoned the council to report them and they sent people down there the next time they were there and next thing there's a big sign up saying no organised activities allowed....typical council jobsworths!!!! Surely meeting a mate for a wander at the park is an organised activity???? and if it's the props that caused a problem then what's the difference between taking a ring or a hurdle and taking a ball
  12. I quite fancy giving it a go with my albino next time there's a decent moon out, I wouldn't do it anywhere other than in a warren that was well away from cover though, and well away from overlooking roads......digging at night in full view of a road or something is inevitably going to lead to mither!
  13. Ellesmere Port greyhound track have their last lurcher racing this Sunday bud, it's actually Afghan racing first but once they're done they have whippets, lurchers, terriers etc. racing, I think it's about a quid a go or something daft like that. It's been on here a couple of times, search ellesmere port and it should come up
  14. i would if it was mine no you wouldn't, just in case the authorities got hold of it
  15. were you having a bad day yesterday or what Ausnick? fookin hell! stick some vids up if you've got them, like mixedbag says, it's always nice to see dogs working abroad. Was having a bad day, was very close to getting ripped off by a "mate". http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q8DI_3pVhGk&feature=g-crec-u this is the only video I have that's appropriate for the public to see. look on the brightside, you won't have to buy as many christmas presents this year
  16. I do, can't beat it! I'll only work a hedge that I can climb through somehow, and set the nets so the net's on one side but you can reach the pegs by leaning through if possible so you can drag the bunny through the hedge once it's in the net. And only work the hedges where you can actually see the other side. Fair enough it isn't easy and you usually come home nettled to buggery with thorn pricks in your hands, and if you've pulled the net from the other side you're leaving an open hole for bolters, but it's all part of the fun. As long as the dog can get through the hedge you've alwa
  17. thing is, it might do a complete circle, the generation that simply can't leave facebook alone will make it so hot for themselves that it'll become virtually impossible for them to do anything with dogs, so they'll all throw the towel in and move onto something else (like jumping off cliffs or something hopefully), and regardless of what happens with the hunting laws, hunting will slowly return back to being vaguely similar to what it was before the chav generation got involved? I don't know about anyone else but that generation, the media, and the perception of hunting and hunter that bot
  18. I bet you were well buzzin after that weren't you!
  19. I've just had a look at one of the pages, it's quite staggering to be honest!!! name, location, what date and time they're going out and what prey they're after....all the rozzers have to do is wait outside their house a couple of hours later and they can't fail!!!
  20. no reason why you can't travel that light again.
