  1. 26 inches long. 40mm wide. brass fittings. bought it a few weeks ago but stupidly i didnt ask width and it is far too big for my bitch. been on a dog for literally 5 seconds, been sat in envelope rest of time. got a ST Georges cross on, unique!!!!!!! want what i paid for it, £20 posted. PM
  2. i had the same issue, my 2 original working jills were skin and bone nearly, and there was 3 big fat ferrets that had been bullying them off the food. shot of lead to 2 of the fatties cured the problem, and the jills are looking and feeling in great nick now.
  3. looking for a decent supplier of raw meat near Skipton north Yorkshire minced meat, beef, chicken, turkey, lamb anything. i got a few butchers i go to but they are fair expensive when you buy a lot and its not minced. large quantities of carcasses are fine as i have a mincer. anyone help? cheers
  4. i would of put her in her crate at night as soon as you got her, as she has gone from the shock of leaving litter, then the shock of leaving you and your other dog, so doing it twice. just my thoughts but she needed to get used to crate asap. you need to tell your bird its just a part of getting a pup as well lol, she will stop soon. maybe she cant understand how the lurcher is allowed in the bed and she hasnt
  5. you say start to leave her on her own, what did you do before? have her in bed?
  6. nowt better than 100% carcasses, obvious difference, i have felt friends ferrets in summer when they are on biscuit and by winter when they are on 100% meat they are like a completely different animal
  7. i know this is off topic, but what is the general opinion about running a dog on maize stubble, only i was planning on going ferreting on some on the weekend. could the dog striking at the rabbit be the biggest risk ie stubble in eyes etc? is it more risk than its worth? cheers
  8. he looks rough.... well he will be if hes from nelson bet he smells too sorry, good look with the sale, looks a cracker
  9. i will take scooby and terrier work book, ive pmed you.
  10. Brimmer and vin, she is far from fat, she is probably too lean compared to her prime weight i have seen her bofore, ideally i would like her to put weight on, she is a bit frail and thin for my liking, but i think this is down to 2 fat hungry ferrets that were in the hutch, but as these were non workers, they are currently under the sod as they were risking the welfare of my best working jills, which is just not on. i have no real feeding regime for them, i put food in about 6pm and the day they eat it all, that night i will put more food in, depending on how big the carcass is, rabbit, pigeon
  11. i wouldnt go a beddy whippet. mine is shaping up a great ferreting and mooching dog, but i doubt she could do a full night on the lamp on different ground. she does great catching bolters on tough ground ferreting, bit i think you would be better off getting a more purpose bred lamp dog. mines a 17tts half cross by the , a 3/4 whippet of taller half cross maydo what you are after.
  12. if she was that breeding surely her head would look like that of a pure sighthound? looks bigger and broader to me, i dont have a clue though, only guessing.
  13. i just bought one before he realises and edits the price just what i was after to put the ferret box and rabbits in when i go for a wander....wonder if he meant 20.00
  14. big fan of that dark dog, a handy size and he looks like he does the biz from the reports youve done, the land looks similar to the land up here as well, would love to see him work. what is poachers pocket? a line, a kennel, a certain stud dog??????
  15. she will be 2 years old in may if remember correctly. she more or less was top notch from the very first trip out she had. but her half sister took a year to show any interest at all. she was on top form all last season and started off this season great, being the best ferret we had on several occasions, and was the best fert on some 50+ days we had, when a friends ferrets were having an off day. i moved on some non workers i had in the same hutch, as they were bullying these 2 off the food, and they are bulking up again more, but even at the height of the bullying they were still working wel
  16. Went out with Charlie Nelly 1 today, we planned to go on some Maize tomorrow, but due to things changing etc, i went up to his and arrived at about half 1, so nice early start... we just took a few ferrets, i took my regular "reliable" jill and a kit. My "reliable" Jill has been shit lately, she is normally one of the best ferrets we take, but t'other day she went in a warren and kept showing, and i was sure it was empty, then a 10yr old hob went in and 3 rabbits bolted normally its her that shows up the other ferts. She got better today, but still not firing on all cylinders, so a bit o
