bud i wouldn't get too upset bout it, shes only a pup and only wants to play, if you start making things a chore your pissing against the wind at that age,in saying that you could built frustration in the pup for the object, teasing her with the ball but dont let her have it, and to do that properly you need to restrict other exciting avenues in the pups life, free roaming, following scents whatever it is ,that floats her boat,,for a few days anyway,, there is a couple of other things going on too , the pup may not have developed enough drive at that age to become fixated on ball play , bu

for me the bebate is whether a true dogman is one whose A dog catch's lots of game or B has a good understanding of the dogs mind, and how to get the best out of it, its possible for a dog to catch more game for a keen owner who's out more but might not be any more than a point and slip man ,,so is it the quantity of game or the qualities in the dog

your leaving a bit late as it is,,some lads on here start pups as soon as their weaned,,only joking men you know who you are,,everyone will swear by their own method,,for me a good conection with the dog comes first and the hunting follows after that,,you might have a mature enough pup by the end of this season coming, and you probably will with a whippet,

I'm cringing just reading that, i'd bet my savings account at some point down the line your gonna have deaths............ spot on had dogs 25 years (lurchers, and other breeds) and it only takes 1 dog to have a(off day) and you are in the shit if they kick off. Reason because they carnt get away from each, other thats why.! Ive got a 10 month old bullxgrey Tod a big strong pup, he is 26in 75lb big bugger. My other lurcher is Bryn 1x collie grey 25in 60lb 4 in sep. They get on great (now) as Tod is still very puppy and likes to play with Bryn, Tod favourite game is called lockin

find out what ye got early save ye feeding a cull  all your finding out is whether the pup is an early starter mentally or not, the dog will only be as good as it can,,some pups will mature later , which would probably be the kiss of death in your yard,,

Good shine on your dogs, well fed pup too,, 24/25 id say,,best of luck with him

each to his own, but i prefare to let a pup mature and develop some sort of understanding with me, before i introduce it the the most exciting it will have experienced, what i want is some control and a dog that sees me as his best bud, and only through me does he get to hunt not a big fan either of having a pup out in a situation i cant completely manage, seen young dogs receive a blast off a fence out, and make completely wrong associations with it, not saying it happens in every case, but the younger the pup the bigger the negetive association with whatever, mental scars at a younger

nothing got to do with dominance, its to do with drive in a dog, its a thing that can happen when play stops or starts between two dogs, or a dog and owner, the dog wants to resume play and is just responding to a drive it feels , drive is expressed in many different forms, digging, chasing, bitting , humping, barking, and when a dogs drive is blocked like a terrier stuck in a back garden who feels compelled to dig holes everywhere, do you really thing he trying to dig his way out or plant a flower bed, he dont know what the f**k hes doing he just respond to his drive, get him out and

Aye thats true, but lots of lads are taking amounts of game that others wouldnt think possible, Now I admit, that is one hell of a lot of foxes, but because I have not seen it dont make it a lie If he had said 100 a week then yeah, but 9 if your travelling about dont seem out the way to me....that said, you would have to put some serious time in to get those numbers. atb yeah i agree , you would need to put in some hours, and a lot of juice in the motor, for something you cant make a dinner out of ,not for me bud, for me if it dont feed me or the dog or bring in a few shillings, s

it happens every time someone mentions fox dog seems it has to do 4 a night 6 days a week ,one off for good behavior, week in week out for the rest of its life whereas when rabbiting dog is mentioned,,nobody comes out with such shite as 20-30 rabbits a night,6 days a week , 7 months of the year , Go figure,,,
