The lad holding the dog must be well into he's twentys by now.
-
It just got a lot hotter

I get what your saying tbh, I like to have 2 but a lot of time finding work for 2 can be hard going,it does come in handy for in jury's and later in the season. 1 dog can take a lot of work, and be better for it. There again if some one wants a pack its no skin of my nose...
-
Like a fast dog with tunnel vision my self, but it normally comes at a price, solution get 2

You have it bosun no pretty nurses ,fancy surgerys, you hold what he needs holding, mine as the advantage of being into running dogs himself. 5 years less than you first lurcher broke her leg that's where the £200 vets bill comes from and up Untill the last couple of years, hardly saw a vet, funny how it goes. If I'd of been putting a 10 a month away for that long could dip into it for a holiday now.

Not shouting about anything just advocating having insurance I don't give a monkeys how expensive it is after that And my price for the toe included a shit load of X-rays to make double sure it had to come off and wasn't repairable as I'd have let him miss the season to keep his toe but if left on would of been retired at 4 with crippling arthritis. Btw a 75lb dog to knock out is £300 for a few hours and he had that everyday for 3 days just to remove the grit and road shit before the could even attempt to put a stitch in not including the 24/7 care in a specialist hospital for 4 days. No vet

I've had dogs seriously injured, but no amount of insurance would ever have them back running again.... Not saying don't insure your dogs but most of the claims you hear of are not real world prices... To be honest I'm thinking of insurance on mine now ,because I would expect the vet to pay me to go to him knowing the prices they charge. If a vet tried to ask me for 50-75 quid when I knew he was already earning 3-7 times more because I was paying my hard earned into insurance I wouldn't be happy chappy.
-
Lol Your the one on shouting about how all the expensive treatments,by your price of a toe I'd say my 500 hundred would be about right. Bet your vet never said I'm doing well out of this don't bother with the 50 did he. No need to be getting all wound up, your happy, I'm happy your vets very very happy
-
Lucky you!!!!Personally I think this put a bit away theory is bollox myself on that basis I'd of still put a decent(imo)dog down, yes vets rack up the price but what do I care I'm not paying it only the £50 excess. My dog cost £3.5k to fix and will resume to normal working duty soon, worth every penny to have him back on the team. What did he do what cost £3.5k out of interest mate? Rta whilst running quarry, both chest muscles left hanging off and took all the skin away from his chest is the short story.Happened early June and near as damn it fully closed now everything works fine runs

Maybe I am lucky, last time I got stitches was a bank holiday, had to knock out bitch to stitch drip 50. That's the difference between a vet that does it because he likes doing it and a vet that does it for money,I'm sure the vet will happily charge full wack when some one comes into willing to pay it. Insurance company's are quite happy to pay out Monopoly money to vets because they know it will scare you into keeping up your insurance. At the same time if I ever get landed for a big vets bill,I know my vet would be happy to do it and get paid weekly or what ever, if he wouldnt he wouldnt be
-
Got a toe of couple of years ago 100 quid.3.5 k do you really think its going to work again and for how long. Each to there own but if you think I'm talking bollux I know you are and the vet must love to see you coming....... Vet "book a holiday love westys been in again"

Good luck

Looks gay

I'd say if you asked around most people would have been.(if lurchers were costing that much at vets you would soon be paying extra premiums) As I say find a good vet. One thats into working dogs I'd rather even use a horse vet than a vet doing pets. Also depends on the person I guess, if you would want to spend 1000s to have a dog that can hardly walk around the garden, then get insurance Just my thoughts.
-
In 2 years that's £240 in 4 £480, minus the odd 50 for a few stitches or something. Biggest bill I've had is 200.
-
Be better of just opening a savings account, and having tenner direct debited into that, unless your unlucky in a couple of years you would have enough for most things. As soon as you mention insurance prices go up unneeded treatments blah blah Find a good vet. Insurance company's don't do it for the fun of it there's big money in it.

My dogs so slow,if I slipped at 400 yards it would be daylight by the time it got there
-
That's what I'm getting at no point being away and watching a email of some c**t taking your dog,Mine ain't even worth taking but to some lads it's just look what I did today.
-
Yes but does it make any difference ?
-
Just wondering what lads thoughts on it are, a decent set up ain't cheap,We've all seen bad ones were you wouldn't even recognise your mom on it. We've also all seen plenty of footage of things carrying on regardless. So is it worth the money?

The Downside To A High Drive Youngster ........
weasle replied to socks's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
Thank you vet weasel ........ Lol true though lads would be queuing up at the vets with there 100 notes two weeks off for the dog that would probally pull them out there any way.when it will heal up in the same amount of time on its own and the dog can still run. -
Driven must be the word of the week, surely a dog that isn't is a cull ,always was?

Last season I was struggling to freeze all the rabbits, already have 2 freezers couldn't buy another so decided to save space to skin them take of heads and paws it saved a lot of space....... Then I tried to get them out
-
Am I the only one that loads meat into the freezer only to find, when you come to get it back, the bags have dropped into the cracks of others then frozen, I seem to spend hours with a hammer and crow bar trying to prise out bin bags out.I had to turn off the freezer yesterday to try and get the last few bags out still not got them out yet.
