    Say you spend a day ferreting a hedge, the dog walks a 100 yards from the car to the hedge then spends most of the rest of the day looking into a hedge,Is that enough excersise for a lamping dog.Not as far as im concerened thats why if i think it needs it i come back i put on walker for half hour.     I didnt see the picture,but i had a dog once who never really muscled,always felt skinny he had a long coat though.He was a fussy enough eater,You could put down the best of food after a decent work out and he would take a bit and leave the rest.If there was a problem i never found it,infact he lived to 15-16.

    As long as the dog can keep the rabbit in sight it would have the advantage,Especially once it turns a rabbit of its run.

    I have a electric one here,Wouldnt say i use it to keep a dog fit,Work keeps them fit. Wouldnt use it this time of year a hour or 2 stroll is plenty.But during the winter,I use it depending on what the dogs doing work wise. I find up to a hour at a good trot plenty,mine also changes gradient up and down hill,Has a top speed of about 25 i think.Dog enjoys it and will gladley jump on.

    Personally find the best way to find a hare is to take a pup or a dog coming back from a injury(any dog you dont want running),for a nice quite walk you can guarantee one will jump up under there nose. Like been said a lot round here seem to be in forestrys ect.If you didnt have a dog you would think they were not there.

    Cleanspade knew someone must have tried it,What you said wouldn't necessarily put me of. A lot of halfxs are not what i want in a dog.My trouble is if i get a dog in its my responsibility for the rest of its life dont like passing dogs around,so cannot see my self getting a grey in ,only to pass it on when im done.     Have you been out with many beddy crosses or you judging from hear say or a couple of dogs had 5 in my time and not one has let me down for anything put in front of them plus the nose they have and fear of nothing says it all for me I never knocked the x mate in fact i said most where happy Point i was trying to make is there probally a lot more saying they work pure beddies than actually work them.I dont know one person who has one let alone work it,but i could go out this afternoon and find the perfect pat,and know it had been breed from workers again and again.     Its easy to loose permission,if the farmer dosnt see you around,and some of the rifle lads wont think about leaving them to breed just kill as much as they can and move on. Like that young dog of yours real nice type.

    Yes money is most lads incentive or fame,Neither are probally good for improving somthing. Real shame if the english coursing blood has all gone But would still rather take my chance with adding stronger blood to a racer grey than going for a saluki.     I put up the same question a few years ago,It got the same replies your getting... I like terrier blood,like there constitutions,there attitude,feet etc.Don't have much faith in beddy blood to be honest i know people seem very happy with there beddyxs but trying to find a genuine grafter not just a busher,Would be difficult.(just my opinion) Patts are every where some right lumps that dont know what bay is that are worked week in week out,Go in lock on types.     Yes mate agrea,What happened with all the greys that where coarsing before the ban,have they all been allowed to die out? On another note some one said you shouldnt be breeding a dog that isnt perfect or along those lines,Maybe you can get a perfect one trick pony?but for your average lurcher lad that wants to do a bit of this, bit of that theres always going to be somthing that isnt perfect couarage,feet stamina,strength,brains the list is endless.I doubt even lads that claim to have had a "dog of a life time" would be able to say it was perfect.

    Good post baw,You even mentioned twitch muscles you will be writing for the countrymans next. Im no expert i just do a bit..somtimes. Greys dont only bring speed in my opion,they are easy to live with, plenty would take fox back in the day,Straight forward. I dont want to be a dog cycoligist,I want a dog that i can take anywhere,and do what i want it to do. Horses for courses why do i need half saluki to sprint a 100 yards after a rabbit?Plenty of lurcherxlurchers with saluki in the mix somewhere and decent dogs,but you wouldnt convince me to buy say a colliexsaluki over a greyxcollie.     Just drove along way for 2 poxy rabbits a bit of a mare. On the way back i was listing to the radio,The presenters were on about the weekends tv,what was on face book,What the famous people had done and said on twitter,And like you was thinking thank god i am able to entertain my self rather than having to be entertained. Mind you they would probably think I'm the mad one they could be right.

    The lad in charge of kids entainment at the show that year, was well peeved to find that thing on hes bouncy castle Luckly there was plenty of the "pro poachers" around to tell him if he called the cops hes castle would go up in smoke.

    You lot can mock but i just found this picture of "blackgreyhound" at lambourne.. As you can see his dog would of been 100%on BIG GAME,unfortunately it could never catch any.. In this picture he had mislaid hes children and was sending it tracking hence the muzzle..

    If day time lads had so much respect for the hare why did they prize a dog that was happy to run behind a hare,Until it made a mistake or what ever.As long as they could say 3/3.? I lamped a few when it was allowed,Some where so easy it felt wrong,Some where so good it made the dog look stupid(felt wrong),and some inbetween.If you where out for decent bags of rabbits they where better left alone.
