  1. Hey John - is that our Tesco from Britain going over there buying lamb to import back here? Surely it would be more in their line to buy British and support the local economy and give the local farmers/processors a decent living? Or maybe that is a different rant/thread altogether, anyway....? On the subject of sheepdogs 'down under', I remember seeing on TV how the dogs - Kelpie types - run along on top of the backs of the sheep as they move through move through the pens. It must be great to have dogs helping to move thousands of sheep around like that, it's hard to imagine how they wo
  2. Lovely! They look just like Tufty the road safety character from primary school. I've never seen a red one before - only 'rats that live in trees' as my aunt calls the grey ones! She also calls feral pigeons 'rats with wings' - she's not too fond of the wildlife!
  3. Good luck with your plot. Have you thought about what you are going to grow in it yet? I've got potatoes, tomatoes, peppers and scallions on the go at the minute.
  4. Fantastic pictures, thanks for sharing them. It looks like the air is so pure there. Have you any photos of what your area looks like in the summer? Do you camp in the tents with reindeer skin? Is it cosy in them?
  5. How do you prepare the rabbits before running them through the mincer? Do you take out the guts and then put bones, skin and all through? When you feed it do you mix anything else with it? Looks good healhty grub that.

    So Proud

Well done to your lad for doing something positive. Hope he is feeling proud of himself for the achievement.
  7. Thats been up for years mate, i put some in last summer to replace the other side though, i might have a pic if you wanna see it................ yes please i have a bit of a fence fetish do you creosote it regular You'll prob think i've commited a crime but i've never used a treatment since i put it up, but i will this year............. Its the fencing in the background mate, got your tissues at hand............... Is that the King's castle then? I like your nice well kept clean garden. Just shows places where dogs are kept don't have to be dirty shit pits.
  8. Every time I read about "Memphis" I laugh so hard a little bit of wee escapes............priceless What's all this about Memphis? Is there an Elvis connection? Was he there at the final too?
  9. Well done LDR - i followed the tales of the competition throughout - it was very entertaining with reports of likeminded folks travelling the length of the country and meeting up for a bit of sport- friendly goodnatured competition. It's a pity that it ended with such unsporting behaviour from Markbrick. It sounds like he was a right embarassment to his dog. What about a write up about your dog - i'm sure those of us who don't know Bruce would love to hear his history - the jacket suits him - health to wear!
  10. I was going to ask what's wrong with all the other crosses! Nothing just trying to find out,and solve the here we go again thread! I don't think you will get a definite answer to that one. Have the dog that suits your needs and be happy with it, regardless of the opinons of others.
  11. Does she live in or out? She looks smart but if she lives out she might feel the cold a bit without the fur.........It's still quite cold at night where we are. Good luck with the pups.
  12. Little butch - do not put gravel in the bottom of it - all it does is create somewhere for debris etc to gather, stagnate and poison your pond. If you are putting a small pump in, the gravel will get sucked into your pump and block and damge the pump. If you do not have a filter then you might need to clean out the bottom every now and again (with a net to remove leaves etc) gravel will only create a dirty mess in there. Let the water stand for a few weeks before you expect anything to live in it and survive. You could get a water lily in a pot and set it on the bottom of the pond - it wil
  13. Without adding a 'proper' filtration system, I would just go for a couple of goldfish - they can grow quite large in a pond situation. If you do not use an ultraviolet filter, your water is likely to stay green and full of algae - the goldfish probably wouldn't mind it though and it would give them a bit of shelter from predators such as herons. A pump to circulate the water would probably help the goldfish through the summer months when there is less oxygen in the water. In a pond like the one you are planning you would probably be best to keep just a few fish and don't feed them much - th
  14. Have you put it about that there is a substantial reward for the return of your dogs? Money talks........?
  15. Well has your dog run there yet? Good luck with the racing!!!
  16. Has anyone started planning stuff to grow this year yet? I have started off some tomato seeds in the greenhouse - last year was a disaster, not many ripe tomatoes, just lots of little green ones - i think the weather was not very suitable. This year i am going to try growing the cherry type that you can grow in tubs and dont need to be staked etc. The spuds are busy chitting on the window sill - last year was my first go at growing potatoes and i was very pleased with the result, so this year i am going to try growing more - the neigbours were queing up for them! I have also started some s
  17. Try them on BARF. My dog used to fart and his breath was minging as well. Now i never smell his farts or breath at all - and his teeth are sparkling.
  18. That's good news. Hope you get lots of eggs. Keep us updated on how you get on.
  19. I think sex education classes in schools isn't the problem here. I think it is the lack of moral examples set at home that causes the problems. Look at the lifestyle of a lot of the parents..............
  20. I tried spray collars - waste of money. The dogs lost respect for them and they became ineffective very quickly - result - back to barking. Look on the DOGTRA site. Get the ones that are self-activating and re-chargable. They work. A couple of snaps off them and the barking soon stops. Now my dogs wear them and often they are not even switched on - the lesson has been learnt - result- no barking. I wish i had bought them first instead of the spray ones (the refills can work out quite dear too). I hate bloody cats coming into my garden - crapping in the flower pots!
  21. Good outcome. It is such a shame some people can't keep their theiving insticts under control. Hope your boy has great fun with his dog now.
  22. I use a laptop and sometimes inadvertently drag the arrow over the name/avatar on the screen and the details of the member pop up on the screen.
  23. I have started feeding the birds recently. It is amazing to see what it brings to the garden and I live in the centre of a town. But i hate to see the cats loitering.............
  24. your 100% right there But watch it dosen't get stole..............
