If you want show fine, but Workers are a different animal, these have been tested in the earth not on a bench! Well said. Regarding the show types, i'm sure they may well catch the occasional squirrel or possum but surely any dog, whether it be a kennel club King Charles Spaniel or Shi tzu might try to do that, dogs being dogs, and dogs chase small animals, birds, cats etc and bark to let warn if a stranger approches their territory - that is natural dog behaviour and i'd be surprised if a dog (of any type) didn't do that. BUT A workers priority is to be a worker,

Please learn to recognise genius when you see/hear it! The man is a genius (well, apart from marrying what he is now trying to divorce - to his COST) No, seriously, I'm a big fan.

Hope your pup gets better soon. Antibiotics can upset the system for a bit. What is your pups typical daily diet? When my bitch was a pup she often had the scoots - experience showed that she was intolerant to milk and wheat type cereals - she still is, i can't supplement her diet with these even now or it's back to the same old runny stuff - complete with blood - yuk!. i cut them out and she started to do solid waste and put on a bit of condition. I may be worth feeding her a bland, consistent diet, especially without the milk?

I started my dogs on oil of evening primrose (from Holland & Barrett) about six weeks ago. One of them has sensitive skin that 'flares up' maybe twice a year, it goes weepy and bald and then crusty before healing up again. Since starting on the evening primrose oil their coats are already smoother and they are definitely shedding less, so I think it is working well from the inside and i will keep giving it to them. It might be worth a try with that dog. I'm usually very sceptical about alternative stuff like homeopathy and one time the vet gave me a skin wash and stated that GLOVES MUS

It's good to get out and about with your dog, good craic meeting up with others etc. but remember it's still a pup with a lot more physical maturing to do - go out and have fun but remember those little bones and joints are still developing - have fun but don't ask too much too soon by doing too much jumping etc. You could check out your local dog training club for help, they should have all the gear and help you to use it safely. Enjoy

Good luck with your new (or should I say recycled) chickens! How may eggs would you expect a ckicken to lay? Do they lay one every day? Do they make much noise? I have head a rooster making noise but are the hens usually quieter?

"Ive heard muzzle the 2 dogs and leave them together. If/when they fight they cant injure each other. One will come out on top and settle pecking order then should be ok. " I would not risk doing this - the minute you leave them unmuzzled and turn your back they are likely to be at it again, perphaps with disasterous consequences. I think some dogs(and bitches) just do not get along and the least stressful option for all involved, if you cannot keep them separately kenneled and under close supervision, is to get rid of one. .....a tough choice

What sort of orange did you use little lloyd? Was it out of a carton or squeezed freshly from a real orange? I'm starting to get visions of it now....perhaps gently warmed with a clove..........mmmmmmmmmmmmmm?

I had one of my terriers dew claws removed by the vet because he kept damaging them (each one of them about twice every year)and it caused him grief while they hardened up and grew back. Now when i say his dew claws were removed, the whole 'thumb' digit was removed right from the joint, not just the growing nail. He was right as rain in about 7-10 days. His nails got injured no matter how short i clipped them - and hell, was that a stressful activity for him and me! The bitch has never had problems with hers and i don't even clip them. I guess at the saying goes - they are all indivi

it has to be spring time for me....lighter evenings, hedgerows starting to green up again and the smell of the ground and growing grass when the sun shines on it...........lovely!

WELL.............what were they like?

I have used citronella spray collars but they only activate when the dog actually barks sharply, not whines. My dog whines when shut in the kitchen loose at night, but when he is shut in his cage in the kitchen he is quiet. I cover the cage with a blanket and he loves it, it is only a small cage but sometimes the three of them (terriers) are all sqeezed into it together, they choose to do this themselves - they seem to feel secure and hidden away in it.,

Dog started urinating every morning?

Is it a speyed female? I heard recently that this can be a problem due to ? lack of oesrogen in the dogs tissues? I have a speyed female myself who used to pull the bedding out of her plastic bed, pee on it and then lie in it, as though she liked being covered in her own smell? By the way, she doesn't do this anymore - it stopped once i took the bedding away but just left the plastic bed to lie on. She seemed happy enough with this arrangement. Maybe you should stop wasting money on new rugs? -
Good advice - buy a crate! it's handy for getting the pup from under your feet when necessary too. Also good for if you are going anywhere and need a temporary kennel to keep the dog under control. I also use a crate in the car for travelling as well - saves the dog from wrecking your car and being a danger when you are driving. You can get them quite cheap on the internet

I had LASEK two years ago. Perfect vision now - no more sore contact lens - no more steamed up spectacles etc. Cost £1200 worth every penny for a few days discomfort and anxiety. Tests before hand were very thorough. On the day of the op it took less than 10 minutes from when i climbed onto the couch until i was sitting up saying "I can see! I can see! It's a miracle!". The actual 'laser' bit took less than 20 seconds on each eye. Eye sight is very precious and it is natural to be cautious, but for me it was so worth it. By the way, when you reach the age for needing them, y

This year i plan to have a go at growing some potatoes in the garden. Due to lack of open soil, this will have to be done in contatiners. Has anyone any tips? will i have to buy seed potatoes from the garden centre or can i use ones that have already sprouted - the ones that get forgotten about in the cupboard? Or does anyone know of a good source on the internet? All advice appreciated.

If you think a chain may help your dog give it a go BUT make sure you have someone show you how to fit it properly. It must lie loose on the dogs neck when he is behaving and walking in the correct position - beside your leg - so make sure you have a 'heel' command and make sure your dog knows what the word is and what it means - reward him when he is in the correct position - food usually works well, especially if labrabor is in his make up! By the way, some patience and one-to-one practice with the dog by itself is called for without the distraction of the other dogs he usually runs wi

what age is your son? What happens to the pup if he can't handle it or be committed to caring for it? He might be better off with something that does not need to be looked after.. a skateboard perhaps..?

Put your dog in a pen with concrete slabs as your floor. Likewise, if you don't want to have a pen and your garden is relatively small, run a layer of concrete paving slabs around the perimeter, up against your fence. This should also make it easier to mow your lawn without having to get up close to the fence. That's if you have any lawn left, dogs, eh! it will also help to keep the dogs nails short if it still insists on trying to dig through the concrete

Have you ever been unfortunate enough to see two greyhounds fight or saw them after a fight, wimps they are not.I have unluckily been in that situation After I'd cleaned them up both dogs stood quietly as I stitched their cuts, not a hint of a TRAUMA. Just out of interest (and appreciating that any dog can get in a scrap, given the right circumstances) would you say in general that they are given to fighting easily? Just wondering, iv'e never had a grey but have been told by peolpe who do, that they are very laid back in their ways. In racing kennels are they usually kept singly or in w

thank you for your interest. Ours are not K.C. registered and are a far more streamlined type than the hush puppy Basset as people know them. Ours are the shape they should be which is what they were initially bred like. About the only book you can get on the old type Bassets is called "A bother of Bassets" which shows and explains far more. Their hunting technique is basically to draw of their own accord and raise the roof once they find a fox obviously we are doing it to the new laws of flushing to guns so they tend not to tire themselves out too much, but they are far faster than you would
