  1. Maybe we have been speaking at cross purposes here. I don’t disagree with that. I’ve simply been pointing out why coursing has found itself the enemy of the rest of the countryside and this sort of anti coursing movement has risen. For over a decade I was involved with a DIY syndicate shoot in coursing country. Out that way the type of shoots that dominate are little piss pot syndicates because the land is shit, put simply. Yeah there’s commercial stuff but it’s not the mainstay. We were on 1700 acres and rent was like 3.5k. There was a well known fella from up the A1 that was allowed to
  2. It was indeed written into the ‘05 act as an offence for landowners to allow illegal hunting. But yeah sure loopholes get closed, primarily as a result of total public idiocy, like those hero pikies rallying and like the masters holding a f***ing ‘how we break the law’ digital workshop. I disagree with the sentiment of the gentlemanly comment. I think presentation in life is everything. But there’s no point in us going around on this. Ill always being killing something because I’m not pigeon holed. I’m not a hunting man, I’m not a dog man, I’m not a shooting man etc etc. There’s too
  3. In this instance it ain’t upsetting joe blogs that’s the problem, it’s farmer Giles. There are lads out there digging 3-400 a season without provoking the farming and land owning community to back campaigns to increase policing and punishments. Coursing said ‘f**k it’ and yeah fair whatever that’s their choice given their circumstances but it was THEIR choice.
  4. I think it’s fair to say folks need to be conscious of ‘how they go about things’ since the ban. But it’s also right to say that most have just found a way and either got lucky or lived with having to be cautious. I know lads who 20 years ago would’ve had a kennel of stripped dogs but now won’t tolerate anything like that on their yard. Terriers only enemies are the antis. Coursing though have managed to turn the whole countryside against them.
  5. Mate, the loopholes offer deniability, they don’t offer exemption. Exactly the same as with hunting. Why are dogs muzzled? There’s no legal explanation for that other than “well we didn’t want them to kill the hares they were coursing”.
  6. Well that’s their decision. A small mob on permission with a few walking guns would be utilising a legal loophole and get no serious bother. Big events can’t be hidden. No guns present offers little plausible deniability. No permission and you are now a threat to much more powerful rural groups. The coursing world is now represented by people who don’t give a f**k at all. Rightly or wrongly. But they have to take some of the responsibility for where they find themselves.
  7. I accept that big coursing meets couldn’t go on. But coursing could, did and does continue on smaller scale via legal loopholes the same way everything else has. But the vast majority do not operate this way and have made themselves a threat to the interests of those in positions of power in rural politics. Im not passing judgement. It is what it is.
  8. f**k all I expect. But how many running dogs are ran on permission? The CA represent the interests of rural stakeholders. Before the ban coursing was a minority stakeholder but legitimate nonetheless. The ban removed its legitimacy and left only those who never were welcomed anyway. Now coursing is simply a threat to the major stakeholders that are left ie farming and estates. There’s clearly no loyalty to some romantic ideal of a sportsman. Their loyalty is to rural stakeholders and if you find yourself not one anymore then you can’t expect a single f**k from any of them.
  9. I think I agree, but then they win.... Cape Buff is beyond my means, but if I was able to justify a lavish no expense spared trip to Africa, then I'd certainly be looking for one. The sort of stuff that'll be likely to draw me to the Dark Continent is considered 'least concern' by the IUCN, so potentially importable after this ban, whatever it may look like when finally passed.
  10. Law hasn’t been passed yet. But it’s on the cards.
  11. His dad! British big game hunters to be banned from bringing trophies home | Hunting | The Guardian WWW.THEGUARDIAN.COM Law will cover near-threatened, threatened and endangered species, from lions to rhinos and polar bears
  12. Finally got that through then. It was on the books back in 2019 when I had 'trophies' at a taxidermist. I had planned on a shoulder mount but worried about the talk of bans asked for a simple shield mount. I thought it had all blown over tbh but sounds like COVID just stalled it...
  13. I'd imagine the benefit of the cross is it'll produce a dog with more hunt in it than a lab but more forgiving to the novice than a spaniel?
  14. A bit of wind ain't a bad thing, it really helps dry them out. But yeah, keeping them out of it should be a big consideration, they'll be a lot more hospitable in the winter for it. Sun's nice but not having any won't harm them imo.
  15. Caffeine and sugar fuelled many a workout.
  16. Going to the gym and getting out with the dogs away from it are the two things I consider essential to keeping my head right. So I can understand where you are coming from.
  17. Not sure there’s anything stopping you taking tests until you score negative though. When I did mine antigen tests were accepted which had a 30 min turn around and it was me who provided proof to immigration via test ref number on the PLF. Tbh though I was bricking it a bit waiting on that negative result.
  18. “By the 2020s, much of Britain has become an uninhabitable wasteland. While some humans manage to survive in the barren "Cursed North", the majority of humanity resides in huge Mega-Cities with populations of tens of millions. To combat crime, the traditional justice system has been replaced by a corps of Boris’s whose role combines those of police officer, judge, jury, and executioner.“
  19. I had absolutely no interest in this, despite the praise it's been getting. Just read the lad is former SBS though, the first Gurkha to join the SBS in fact, which has sparked my interest.
  20. Done the travelling thing already mate, so know the deal with that, unless it's changed. Obviously partially depends on the location countries regulations but didn't strictly require a vaccination when I went, but made it much easier.
  21. Am I stuck in a 12 month time loop? What f***ing party ban and what lockdown? All I know of is we have to wear masks in shops again...
  22. Who can't party? I've seen tons of people getting shit faced and dancing, none of em were called Boris either.
  23. Totally plausible! what’s a bit more difficult to explain is how it got covered in lube first….
  24. How do you fry fairtrade avocado on toast?
  25. Thank you. Where I'm from OSR is a major crop, it's been very noticeable the reduction in recent years. I'm all in favour because I'm allergic as f**k to it's pollen. So do you think this proposal is going to achieve anything?
