  1. If i didnt know any better i would say you had nicked my pup... Thats an old picture now, grown quite a bit since. Hows yours bred and how old? As with most pups, loves the snow.
  2. I think the answer is, its best to avoid her having too many courses on rabbits because at her age for every time she does is a chance she will develop a fault, even when ready for entering properly easy catches are important so as to give confidence and not develop faults. However the general concensus is that a little bit now and then probably wont hurt, and will teach the pup alot about the field and its quarry. Just try to avoid places madly infested with rabbits. Now I have a real problem! I cant let my pup off the lead without it flushing a hare and then spending the next 15 mins hun
  3. Air Arms S410 Classic .177 with thumbhole walnut stock with Hawke Varmint II 4-12x44 PA scope mounted. Rifle and scope are in very good condition and a dream to shoot and own, ¼ inch groups at 40 meters with Air Arms Field pellets is achievable by even an average shooter. Also included Harris tilt 6-9 inch Bipod (QD studs fitted) and Deben Tracer Atom 6V scope mounted lamping kit. After thinking about selling this now for near 2 months I have reluctantly decided to as its not getting very much use except the odd ratting session. This is one piece of kit I never intended to sell but little poin
  4. Yes, she has quite alot of Rytex blood in her. Shes bred from FTCH DENFORD DANNY OF BELVDEN (sire) and BRECKSWOOD DAMSEL (dam) with FTCH CHEWEKY WOLF as her grand sire. The Sire of the litter is directly out of cheweky wolf. Tails were docked to approx a 3rd of their full length with bitches a bit longer, approx half of their full length.
  5. Ferreting, Pug is an old word for ferret. Some one else will probably know more.
  6. 7 Springer pups, 5 dogs, 2 bitches. 6 weeks on 26th December, ready to go at 8 weeks (9th Jan). Dam and sire hard working on local shoots in the beating line and also required to pick up. Hunt and retrieve fur and feather, on land and from water. Land they work is very thick cover, bramble, blackthorn etc. Work as you would expect a decent Springer to work! Both parents papered (KC) and hold respectable pedigrees with many FTCH in each. Pups docked and dewed by vet and have papers, socialized with kids and a few select other dogs. Dam Sire Pups
  7. Thanks for letting us know. Guess ill be taking a mooch with the shotty instead then...
  8. Or she might take a life long hate of them and kill the fukers every oportunity she gets, too big a risk for me. But yeh, lead training and a decent whippy bit of hazle i think. Just got to take it slowly and steady and not put too much trust in her like i did today.
  9. Crashed my van this morning on the way to feed for the keeper, so day started bad but i was in a decent enough mood as everything was alright really and decided to take my pup out. Walked to the next village to see some very good freinds and after a chat take the pup (7 months in a week) round their garden to reinforce the stock steadiness to ther chickens. Now after getting it into her head a good few months ago that chickens are off the menu she has been fine around them, usually just watches them and stays away from them. However today one of the chickens got into a bit of a flap up aga
  10. Obviously going to a completely new home is traumatic for any pup so this is probably the cause. Once she settles she should start eating enthusiastically. Have you tried fresh minced beef? Once the pups eating, get it on a good barf diet.
  11. Plenty about on top round me, can only put it down to the hard weather. Beating on saturday and managed to take 3 foxes all off of one drive, worked perfect! Saw 3 different foxes on the 2 drives before that. The terriers should start to account for a few more now.
  12. Must be a very nice way to hunt, your a lucky man! Nice hounds and looks a cracking day for it, with or without a result. atb
  13. A march may make a difference, but the last one didnt so im not gonna hold my breath, ill be there mind you, garuntee that! But! Surely a HUGE hare coursing event would make a few more arses twitch! Land owner would be completely inocent as he 'obviously' would have no idea or control. And how the hell can the police lock up god knows how many thousand coursers and beaters? If we all made a stand like this and was willing to make the sacrifice then surely we would be recognised for who we really are and not just a minority of 'working class dog men'. Even if all we did was a mock up, no do
  14. Im in, ill put the word about if and when. I wont be alone hopefully, but ill be there garunteed pal.
  15. The lad must have had the heart of a terrier. From all the hunting community, good luck where ever you are fella...
  16. Dear Ben Thanks for your e-mail regarding 'Countryfile' as broadcast on 6 December. I understand you're annoyed as you feel the programme reflected badly on hare coursing and dog men and gave an inaccurate overview of the activity. We appreciate your feedback and I can assure you that it's been forwarded to the production team. We feel that as hare coursing is currently illegal, we presented it as such. That being said, it's not for Countryfile to make value judgements on what should or shouldn't be a crime. As you feel strongly on this matter I've registered your comment
  17. Agree. If the hunting act is at all reviewed, chances are it will be for the worst for the average dogman. But i suppose we can all hope for a future where we can fill the pot and control vermin as legally as a shooting man, the way it should be.
  18. About 3 weeks ago, we had a dog and vixen to ground, dog bolted and vixen dug.
  19. This is completely off topic, but i get the impression that whenever the subaru lads have been doing their thing its always dog lads getting blamed.......... Well can i just say that not only dog lads are driving scoobys all over farmers crops! Our local land has been done by them and it isnt dog lads, foxes with big f*****g holes in them left to rot by the tyre tracks arnt the result of the sharp end of a bull cross! Like i said, off topic but somthing that hasnt been mentioned on this site yet! As soon as poaching in 4x4s is mentioned its dog lads that are imediately blamed.
  20. So you want a dog that will take fox and rabbit........ Almost all types if bred right will do that to some extent. Obviously a safe bet is going with a terrier blooded lurcher. If i was you i would be asking myself what else i require of the dog? Hunt cover like a terrier or less energetically (like sighthoundy types), big dog or small (depending on the land etc), high endurance for run after run after run or speed merchant that cant take as many hard runs, even coat type and feet? loads more to consider in blood than just wheather it will be able to catch and kill fox and rabbit. Hope this h
  21. I tend to use the words endurance and stamina, lamping dogs should have endurance, coursing dogs should have stamina, thats all a bit 'black n white' but you get the jist.
