  1. yeh but unlike a Lab, an Akita is most probably a killer . I've yet yo meet a stranger friendly one. You can f**k off with your anti akita attitude! Narrow minded to think a certain dog breed is inherently a 'killer'. Deed not breed! "Feck off" is a bit strong, do you like a row? I said "most probably" and "yet to met" and you admited yourself it was "going trough the same thing" growling at people etc. In fact the only Akita's that I have met and that is five have been complete gaurds and a nightmare with dogs, so my narrow mindness is through experience with five completely d
  2. True, however many do seem to put deer up on a pedastal. Yes they are a beautifull quarry but that doesnt mean other quarry species should be treated any less respectfully.

  4. Im trying to eliminate that doubt, but thats sound advice.
  5. Im fully aware of the laws regarding carrying a knife, but they are unclear as to keeping a knife in your vehicle. So unless you know of a specific law stating that it is illegal to keep a knife in the boot of a vehicle do you really think the question was so daft? Likewise with the carts, owning cartridges is not the same as owning a shotgun, you do not need a licence to own a shotgun cartridge i beleive, only to buy them from a dealer. So im sure you can understand my confusion with regards the cartridges as well.
  6. Probably wont be so critical when your dog rolls a flushed fox infront of them all! Of course the fox will have been pricked and the lurcher slipped as a means of humane dispatch perfectly legal under current laws i beleive. You will find shoots differ quite alot, im very lucky in that the shoot im involved with most the guns are very freindly and happy enough to see a lurcher about.
  7. Do you know if it was in the boot out of reach or on their person?
  8. Thankyou for your replies. I like to keep a spare box of cartridges in the car just because i often need an extra 25 either for myself or a freind whos running low so i just like to always keep a spare box in the boot to save having to remember ech time. The reason for the knife is pretty similar, if theres one thing i lose minutes before going out hunting its my bloody knife, so to always have one in the car is just very convienient. Now i understand this may not hold much weight with PC 'eager for a nick' Plod but its the truth and as with all my usefull bits n bobs (eg water, bowl,
  9. I like to keep a few bits n bobs for shooting/hunting/dog stuff in the car all the time which i find very usefull. 2 things which concern me slightly, however im unware of any law prohibiting it, first being shotgun cartridges and second being a knife. I like to keep a spare box of 25 cartridges in the car and also a good knife (both out of view of course). Am i breaking the law?
  10. Spot on hannah, very good advice. My freinds got an akita of 6 months going through the same thing
  11. Nobody of course, the act doesn't allow for 'accidental hunting' so when there is no 'intention' to pursue quarry with your hounds but they do then the law is on your side basically. But its not that black and white. For instance, if you were ratting in your garden with your dogs and suddenly a fox bolted from behind your garden shed and the dogs nailed it in the confines of your garden, provided you didnt intentionally hunt the fox you are not guilty.
  12. The maximum of two terriers are used to flush fox's from their earth to be shot for only the protection of game birds. nearly right, only one dog to ground or 2 flushing from cover on top. 2 to ground would be illegal
  13. Its amazing how hard a place like that is to find! Hares are the burden of my life at the moment, i just want them all to leave lincolnshire for the next 6 months! lol
  14. And this is what pisses me off. People try to organise stuff like this and no one,or very few, even bother to send an e-mail or a p.m. saying they will attend or support the cause. And then you get all the arseholes whining that "our way of life is being eroded",or some other bit of bullshite Theres a few good ones in this hunting game, but theres a lot who just spout their patter so they can pats on their backs off their mates. This dog game is f****d because lads wont stand together and be counted or fight for their sport. Best of luck with this mushroom,at least when its all gone you w
  15. Alot of different opinions, "youll know when the dogs ready" seems to be about right, but what do people class as knowing when the dogs ready? Keep answers sensible...
  16. Got to agree, it was pretty poor. I dont know how they can justify charging 10 quid for what it was, i wont be going next year.
  17. Ive looked at the picures and the deer seem to be in the process of beeing prepared for the game larder, i assume that the deer were left due to the lads being rumbeled... Either way, doesnt look good in the eye of the public. We must ALL do what we can to promote legitimate (regardless of legal status) lurcher and terrier work and push out the scum that are a cancer on our sport.
  18. I cant go to what i have heard is the greatest sporting event in the country....... the waterloo cup! That has to be the greatest loss due to the ban???
  19. Of course its all bollocks, however is it really surprising lurcher and terrier work is in the public eye again??? Only yesterday while walking my dog with a freind and his pup we saw 4 people in white trackys running across local fields with a brace of lurchers with not a care in the world as bold as brass, initially i was quite pleased to see them out doing abit but their attitude just wasnt right to me, slipping both the dogs on hares practically kicked up. But what pissed me off was that ive noticed alot of dead hares kicking about recently round the edges of these fields, some in dikes, s
  20. What if the breeder only has room for a certain number of his own kits. For what ever reason cant find appropriate homes for the excess (maybe just a couple of hobs that havnt got homes). The breeder has done the right thing imo by breeding to bring on quality new stock for the future, quality that he could not have bought in for what ever reason (perhaps he has very few ferreting freinds, even less breeding good stuff). Is it wrong to cull the excess at birth rather than just shift them onto any fecker with a few quid wanting a ferret? IMO i would cull and very well may have to next year
  21. 7/8ths sighthound!!!........ dont think they will be fast enough , lol. They will go like hot snot, certainly wont run out of gears!
  22. I think the main decision when breeding is 'can i buy in better kits than i can breed?'. If the answer is no, then breed your best being completely honest with yourself about the standard they work at, keep what you want, give the rest to worthy ferreters and if there is any unspoken for at birth then i have no bad concience about humanely culling them. If of course the answer to your question is 'yes, i can buy in better working stock than i can breed' then bloody well do that! But you have to be completely honest with yourself about your ferrets working standard! Too many people are breeding
  23. looking well, my bitch is just a shade under 24" tts and 48lbs. she looks just like your lad but smooth coated
