Theres more to christmas than religion, theres a much deeper meaning than the bullshit story it was based on. There are alot of things in this country that find their origin in religion, does that mean we do away with most of our traditions and culture? -
The shoot was cancelled today due to lack of guns for one reason or another so I decided to take a mooch out with the terrier and auto to see what was what. I was hoping to find a fox in one of the many drains we have but no such luck this time. First job was to check the orchard pen as the squirrels seem to have moved back in force, I managed 3 last sunday but more have been seen since. Two shot from the oak tree near the pen so that was a job well done and hopefully the end of them in there. I wont mention how many shots the first bugger took untill I finally contected. Find a second hand chainsaw or strimmer thats past its best for its original purpose, remove the dangerous bit and attach a bit of heat proof flexible pipe to the exhaust, give it an extra couple glugs of 2 stroke oil and get cracking. I've had some great fun in the past but personally I prefer ratting where I'm not left temporarily deaf afterwards if possible though. That said, the chainsaw smoker can't be beaten in places where there are large numbers of rats IMO.

Just out of interest, has anybody ever gone to a kennel and had a look to see if there was anything that looked like it had seen abit? I genuinely have no idea what you would find in such places. Do the powers that be even rehome marked up terriers?

surley as long as it reaches its terminal velocity whotever the angle then its energy upon falling to the ground would be the same ?feather and lead ball and all that I believe if a bullet is shot into the air at a velocity with a significant horizontal component then the bullet remains stable in flight (pointy end forward) and so its drag coefficient is minimal. Whereas a bullet fired vertically will destablalise and 'tumble' through the air with a much greater drag coefficient and hence reduced terminal velocity. -

I listened to Carl on the radio this morning briefly and he was very honest about his defeat and himself, no bullshit or excuses and definately wants to keep fighting, looking to the future. His attitude and heart is to be admired.

It's hard not to pass judgement Lab, but my opinion is it's not right to do so without having a deep understanding of their culture. Many times throughout history we have stuck our noses into other peoples business without fully understanding the situation and years later with deeper experience and understanding in hindsight things would have been done very differently. I'm not denying people voicing an opinion, thats every humans right. My opinion is the Chinese culture (as with many orientals/asians/arabs) does'nt promote much in the way of empathy, welfare or kindness, by my definition

I think the point some of us are trying to make is that it doesn't matter whether it is cruel or not, one culture should not interfere with another. They have no right and more often than not it causes war. Yes, by our definition it's so barbaric it's incomprehensible but it's non of our business unless it hinders our progress in some way. Do we, in the west, honestly believe we are some kind of universal force of righteousness and fair play? Situations like this really test my moral stance on this but it is my moral stance. My sentiments exactly. I find it very hard to swallow (no pun intended) but It's not right to judge another culture by our own standards. Allthough an act of such cruelty does test my ability to stand by those words some what.....

116,200 shots but only 58,890 kills. Dont sound a bad average to me! I think that would also be with black powder as modern cordite propellants were only just being produced in the late 1800s. Which in my mind makes the ratio even better! ??

Interesting to read how hunting views differ over the other side of the Atlantic to ours. It does appear quite different throughout North America when compared to Britain. Not better or worse, just different..... in a good way. Nice going billy!

I've got Le Chameau Vierzonord and had them a few seasons now. They don't get as much hammer as my Boots but they have been through alot over a few years now and they have stood the test. I rate them highly. I can't be doing with these sip up jobs you can get though, my calves aren't big enough to need em and I've seen em break and they are alot more expensive.

I've got a first season hob here I want to get done as soon as his balls drop. I was quoted £130 a couple years ago at my vets, so £70 sounds good and £37 sounds bloody great! I think I'll be phoning around all the vets in Nottinghamshire to see if I get get it for around the £70 mark.

Yep fair comment i suppose......still seems a bit of a strong reaction to me though.....and i definately think the big fella saw an easy opportunity to " butch up ".....and took it. He probably did, but lets face it thats just nature. This wasnt intended to be a fair match, no shots below the belt lark was it.
