The Big Bang Theory, Bones, Terra Nova. Game of thrones in spring!

Nothing quite like a terrier working a thick hedge, putting a strong cock bird up and standing stock still watching it as it rises, still motionless as the bird is shot. Then cast off to find the fallen bird, taking a good line and using its nose to find it's prize. Alls perfect and guns look on in amazement................. untill the little f****r finds it's bird and rags f**k out of it! lol

In the beating line....
Born Hunter replied to Born Hunter's topic in Gamekeeping, Conservation & Shoot Management
That tends to be the way we do things ideation. A bit of noise generally, not too much, and if the guns would benefit a call of 'forward', 'over', 'partridge' or 'woodcock' and a name if possible. On a much bigger shoot I don't think either are neccessary? -
I think we could all argue untill we are blue in the face..... no, wait, we HAVE many times before! I can't recomend a comercial complete dog buscuit but I will say, give a home made raw diet a go and see what happens. Buy a load of chicken carcasses, minced fatty red meat, tripe, a few bits of offal and a bag of oats/pasta/brown bread and some minced veg if ya dog will actually entertain it and give it a spin. It aint fecking rocket science. There are good working dogs out there fed on buscuit but thats about as far as I'm willing to comment on that. One thing I have learnt, no am

I think it's fair to say you can shoot years without a dog but once you have one you really miss it on a mornings shooting. They really do make a difference. That said, I've spent a fair few years shooting without and still managed to put a bit of something in the bag with a gun in the crook of my arm and a stick tapping at the hedge.
-
Do you want a bit of noise? Or do you prefer absolute silence with just the sound of sticks tapping and spaniels working the cover? I've heard opinions differ quite passionately. Some keepers feeling it warrants an ounce of 6! lol. Also do you call birds for the guns? I think on smaller shoots where theres not such a constant stream over the guns it helps, especially for back guns. Questions apply to keepers and beaters alike...

I've never experienced any of my ferrets stopping to chow on a rabbit while working, never mind a week old dead 'en. They are well fed before work and only have interest in live rabbits, other than ragging a fresh kill when fired up. I wouldn't be concerned but then perhaps I do things different to you?

"THE HORRIFIC DOGS BRED TO KILL BADGERS"

the more we compromise the further they push next time. Having to wear the star of david at all times doesn't seem all that much to ask does it? it's not that much inconvenience, they were given out for free. having to sign a register declaring that you are a jew isn't all that big a deal either is it. 20 mins if that, then it's done. I can't for the life of me remember if the government that made it mandatory for some people to do these things 'progressed' when the people accepted these little things willingly. We're talking about lurcher work here blan, not genocide. So wh -

Britain now 28'th best place to live in the world.
Born Hunter replied to mackem's topic in General Talk
Yes they should lead by example, but at least they have grafted to get into the position of power they are in. And if you think they have it easy then I would say, go and become a politician. I'm not defending them because they are next to f*****g useless but at least they are working. As for the 55 quid a month, yes that is basic job seekers, but who pays their rent? Bills? etc? Pays for their family? They are a stain on British society. A stain that is growing. It's not the money that bothers me, it's the attitude, a complete lack of honour and sense of duty to this nation. Many need abi -

Born Hunter replied to mackem's topic in General Talk
true ,but id rather see benefits and other hand outs going to british people, than some shitskin who just came of a boat or the back of an artic. I can't say I would rather it go to either to be honest. I would rather a deserving British national get benefits than anyone but seeing a British national shitting on his neighbours by abusing the system year after year boils my piss more than any immigrant shitting on our system. Where the f**k is their sense of pride or loyalty to the country that their ancestors lived and died for? It sickens me! Immigrants are a problem, a problem that I d -

Born Hunter replied to mackem's topic in General Talk
Immigration is certainly a major factor in this countries sinking but lets face it we have plenty of our own home bred parasites dragging this country into the abyss... If every britain had the morals and attitude that was common place 50 years ago these Isles would sort them selves out within the decade. We have weak leaders because we have a weak society. -
You really struggle to comprehend that your way aint the only way dont ya whin. Some people like taking pics, for memorys or as a kind of trophy. Does it really matter? Many of us really enjoy reading about other lads big nights, even if we are green with envy. And before you go off telling me to get out there and do abit my self, I do but I aint got the land for anything aproaching the numbers some lads on here have, so I'll just have to enjoy reading about it.

Not exactly sure but i'd imagine there a pittance. Probably something ridiculous like 40p a brace............ Last year round here it was 2 quid a brace,80p hen bird,1.20 for a cock. Almost makes it worth while having a nocturnal trip out in the woods with an air rifle..... lol. In all seriousness I think if they were fetching that price nationaly there would be a huge increase in poaching birds again! Wish I had an outlet at that price. I've reported you too Malt for that one..................... Shit, these may be my last moments before the power hungary fec......

Are you really that stupid you have missed the point entirely? I would hazard a guess at YES! why the is that then I dunno, perhaps you were dropped on your head when young.... As for the point in this thread, nobody gives a shite about the cats, but people do give a shit about the bad image that lagitimate dog men get because of the 'hard men' that don't seem to give a shit. Preban dogs were quite lagitimately used to control ferals, but slipping on the old dears moggy down the road is stupid and disgracefull!

# I guess tesco will be binning all the chucks and replacing them with wild rabbit then... go figure... I wasn't speculating anymore than you are. I havn't done a market survey but I can assure you rabbit is in no where near the demand chicken and other farm produced meats are.
-
Are you seriosuly telling me that if you offered a rabbit and a chicken to the average jo they would prefer the rabbit? 95% wouldn't touch the rabbit mate. It may have become fassionable of late but still very few eat it and fewer still regularly. That said, I had a rabbit stew at the weekend and it was 100% better than any beef or chicken stew! It was absolutely gorgeous! It's a meat I eat regularly and the majority of my friends have tried it but none of them would go out and buy one. The country is chicken mad, and the situation is 10x worse in the cities.
-
You can only charge what the market will pay for them. People want chickens, they dont want rabbits. So the price will generally be poor. If you put your prices up too much someone will come in and undercut you, it's not like there is really a shortage of lads with 22s, snares or ferts looking to make a few quid.

This young leopard is going to be hard as nails!!!!!
Born Hunter replied to rob190364's topic in Hunting Video Clips
I know what ya saying mate and I wouldn't interfere with nature but if nature decides an animal is to die then I couldn't sit by knowing the critter is suffering if I could end it's life swiftly. Maybe I'm not as hard as a wildlife film crew, or maybe I'm a little harder. Not knocking them at all, they do a fecking great job and don't interfere at all, which is better than interfering too much. I suppose it's the line they must never cross.... -

I was watching a documentary about leapords this weekend and aparantly the cubs have a less than 50% 1st year survival rate! Always amazing to watch the adults hunt though, experts in ambush hunting. The mother the documenary was following lost her first cub to another predator and the final one had just learnt to climb and fell trapping its hind legs in the V of a tree, breaking it's pelvis. When the mother found it she tried to get it to play and free it but its back end was completely shot to shit, she left it as she knew it was a lost cause. The cub managed to free itself and drag itself t -
I should think it's to make business with the rest of europe more convienient. Due to our time zones differences there will be financial losses that would be reduced by bringing us into the same time zone. I'm sceptical though...
