  1. It seems people do know who are taking these dogs then? Terriermen and Lurchermen may be looked down on by the rest of the hunting community but one thing I know shooters etc look up to about dog lads is that they have a reputation for being fecking ruthless with dog thieves! If you know names then why arent you getting together and getting to the root of the problem? I know it's alright for me to say so sat here but it's got to be the solution! They are so successfull because the hunting community is so fractured and indiviuals wont come together. Hit a couple of these dog thi
  2. Just thought I would add my pup. 15 month old bred from two handy earth dogs. I would be lost without her now, real handy dog for me, rough shooting, beating and bushing. She retrieves and has found and retrieved many a pricked rabbit already, also retrieves from water. Not too much of a b*****d like most terriers either, quite biddable. Hopefully get her entered to her true job later in the season, shes keen enough!
  3. He was an enemy of this country and the west regardless of what else he did, and as such he got what was coming. If in doing so we can stabalise our future oil supply then thats a a good enough reason for me. I wont pretend oil aint an important factor, we need it. You're right about how good he was for libya though, but no fecking saint.
  4. Lovely photo JD. It would be nice to have a decent squirrel permission for the air rifle but for the times I have to control squirrels unfortunately it's just so much more practical to use a 12 bore or .410 and a couple of dogs. Do you still have that beautifull custom 77? That guns a shooting mans wet dream!
  5. With our overpopulated island it wouldnt take long untill people were seeing lions in their back yard or roaming the streets. And who do you think the government would look to to hunt down and despatch the roaming beasts? Experienced deer stalkers, gamekeepers and big game hunters at a guess!
  6. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-15364027 Imagine if that happened in England! There would be some seriously f****d up bullxs! Alot of stupid comments about the animals being shot instead of traquilized and humans life being treated as more imprtant than an animals! Alot of people with messed up morals.
  7. Seasoned oak, ash and birch from a local golf course we log and split ourselves. Also coal when needed or when seasoned wood runs a bit thin.
  8. "FREE VOTE" Thats the key bit of info there. It would be stupid to have a free vote in parliment on the hunting ban at this point because we would loose! A quote I read somewhere comes to mind "if you ever find yourself in a fair fight then you didnt plan it very well". The same applies here, pro-hunting needs to have the strongest support before a vote.
  9. no-one should have any say in what a man who's not harming anyone does on his own land, imo. Oh FFS blan, we all have to play by the same f*****g rules. If we all lived in your world the human race would find itself extinct within a fortnight!
  10. FFS lads, get organised! This makes for f*****g hard reading. Keep vigilant and dont end up doing time because of dog thieves and desperation.
  11. Got a mate whos been doing a heritage joinery apprenticeship for the past 9 months and hes 31! I know he would tell you its the best thing he has ever done and is a real turning point in his life. If the reward is worth the risk/effort then crack on with it!
  12. Thats true,I have had bad dealings with the police, thats probably coloured my views against them. Alot of people have, thats why so many are baying for blood and not truth and justice. Not to say your one of these mackem. On a different note, it was only weeks ago many (including myself) would have liked to have seen hard policing like that on the streets of our cities.
  13. i double skin the kennels with quin therm insulation but the fuckkers eventually chew through to it.!!!!!! same excersise every year! Would i f**k!!!.....if they want to eat it then they can dad on, they'll be the ones that are colder than the other dogs!! Chewing b*****ds!! Not sure a dogs physchology works quite like that lab, lol.
  14. You never heard of 'stopping'? What they say is a bit dramatic however.
  15. They are lethal. The shot is 9mm diameter, so really you are firing 9 x 9mm projectiles at not much less than they would be fired out of a pistol. When I fired a few at my pattern target, when I managed to hit it at 30 yards, it was going straight through 4" of hardwood. I've messed about with a box before. I bought them for knocking crows nests out with and found them f*****g useless compared to even an ounce of No.6 as the pellets just wiz straight through the nests without really departing any energy to give the necessary 'punch'. It wasnt untill after I realised how dangerous w
  16. I would also point out how bloody dangerous SG carts are! I believe each pellet has a greater mass (61 grain?) than that of a .22 rimmy bullet (45grain?) and travel at about the same velocity! When firing these carts you have to think more like you are shooting a rifle than a shotty in terms of safety. They're dangerous and practically useless in this country. Why we need an FAC for a .22 rimmy but can buy SG carts on a shotty cert is beyond me!
  17. A .410 will be much easier to get than a .22. They practicall give shotty licences out, FAC is a far more rigorous process. If you want a shotty for despatch then put in for your shotty licence. You dont have to specify calibers or land you are shooting on, just say you are starting clay pigeon shooting, there shouldnt be a problem. Buy a second hand single barrell silenced .410, plenty about for 150 quid. Personally I wouldnt go to the expense just for despatching a fox, it would be humane though!
  18. Hatchiko, when ya see the dog getting old and still waiting f****d me right up. lol
  19. When I saw the pics on Pg.49 and Pg.50 I could hardly believe he had included them! lol. Fair play to him, hes not bowing to bullshit laws. Really great read! Mines on my desk at work with me, most of the way through it now.
  20. Hope you get things sorted jiggy, I can only imagine how frustrating it must be knowing they are waiting for you to let your guard down. Can't be any good for a mans sanity! I fear the only solution is one on the wrong side of the law as the law certainly isnt on yours.... The fact they are targetting all dogmen in your area may be your saving grace, someone will recognise a face and know a name and the scum are adding numbers to their growing list of enemies. Plan a big meeting if you havnt allready and be intelligent in your actions. I dont mean to sound patronising so I apologis
  21. If you enjoy shooting then its great sport but imo for proper rabbit control it isnt as good as nets. However I find it handy for mopping up any left overs from an area hit hard previously as you can cover the land real fast. Biggest advice, keep level headed and dont let a 'hole hopper' make you chance a less than safe shot. When I was younger I shot my mate by doing that! Got a couple of No.6 in each leg! Nothing serious as it was a ricochet but shouldnt have happened! Also let the rabbit bolt clear so you dont slug a fert! And if you have never shot over your ferts before just be mi
