  1. Interesting, are you saying 35 lbs is too low that roes are bigger than this? In trying to understand comparable sizes with our whitetails, do roes run an average of 50 lbs field dressed? I was hoping that somebody with a bit more experience than me could answer the same question? I think it's worth noteing that I live in Lincolnshire and perhaps as Skycat has said, they are a bit bigger round here? Or perhaps I'm just deluded? Like I said, the few I have come by I have never weighed as they have been for my own freezer but I would have said that I got at least 45lbs of jointed meat off
  2. Is the average weight of a Roe 35lbs?!!! Perhaps the ones I have come by have just been 'well fed'.... My dog weighs 50lbs and is shorter and of lighter build than the average Roe round here. Any input from lads that have taken them in numbers? I must admit I have never weighed one. I just find that figure staggering......
  3. Although here it's chip cob and bacon butty. Everything else is a cob. you pair want cobbing off the edge of a pier until you learning to speak properly! 'Learn' old chap.....
  4. Although here it's chip cob and bacon butty. Everything else is a cob.
  5. Well if he was a paki theres every chance he,s a brummie ......no i wouldnt fancy having my lid opened up by a brain surgeon who calls a roll a cob or a roundabout an island .........................id imagine him getting in there and saying " bostin theres the brain " Could be worse Gnash, could be lying there with a severe head trauma & some bloke stood over you saying: "Cor blimey Guv'nor, what 'ave we got in 'ere? Oh dear, oh dear, oh dear!! Look lively lads, or this bloke'll be up the apples and pears quick smartish!! Step in timmee!!!" I'm rolling here mal
  6. The Blencathra are plagued with antis from what I am told and have seen. They're relentless with them in particular and very well equiped. There is a bit of history behind it all from what I was told on a foggy day on the fell.
  7. They work great in the beating line provided they are reasonably well behaved. My little 'en has worked every shoot day this season grafting just as hard as the spaniels and it's been recognised by the people that matter. I'm not going to kid anyone into believing a terrier is better than a purpose bred spaniel as they just simply arn't but they are very good and will put up just as many birds. I try to keep mine from picking up other than when neccessary as it can go one of two ways, retrieved live to hand or despatched to hand! She swims like an otter and retrieves duck from water. The odd d
  8. I've often thought that Millet. It's not fecking right shooting released pheasants in October IMO. I've also wondered about extending the season to February but for cocks only????
  9. Maybe, but I feel smug as f**k knowing the antis will be seeing the outcome. Done.
  10. I've got it every night with the site. Usually just give it 5 and try again.
  11. Nice pic Liam! The little fella looks proud as feck with his chest out and hands on his hips. The terriers look a handy type too. Very nice! Anybody else got any pictures of the sports youth then get em up!
  12. Thanks everyone, both of the lads are keen on their hunting/shooting and I don't think we'll be loosing either of them. On a more personal note, I hope the pup goes onto to make something half decent, at the moment I'm very happy with her, handy little dog for me.
  13. Never really one to bother posting in this section but this picture brought a smile to my face. These two young lads had their first real experience of a bit of foxing with terriers and it was the black pups first fox. Nothing special, the dogfox wanted out and took very little persauding and bolted into a net with the pup inches behind it. The lads got a bit excited when it bolted as to be expected but once I had it scruffed I shot it and let the terrier have a good long rag and the lads chilled out and just enjoyed it all. She was very keen and a good start for a pup. Faces blurred for o
  14. According to the article it was in the context of "19th century European colonialism". Tbh it's not the sorta thing that would bother me at all, but as has been said if it was a white person saying similar then there would be resignations expected and a racism investigation! I can easily see it being said as humour but when you are in the possition she is then it is the wrong side of a fine line and she knows it! Imo the whole country is race mental to both extremes.
  15. In my opinion not many people do know what they really want to do career wise. I know I have'nt found my 'perfect' career yet, but for the time being this one will do. A fella I know/shoot with only just figured what he really wanted to do when he was in his 40s!!!
  16. I agree to a certain extent, but the trouble will be that some drivers will then start doing 120 in a 90 limit, instead of 100 in a 70. I personally reckon it should be upped to , but increase the fines. I too have lost a family member from some t**t speeding. Personally I would like to see the speed limit rise to 90mph in fast lanes on the motorway, 80mph in all others and dual carriageways. Also I think harder punishments for those caught breaking these increased speed limits. JMO
  17. It's about time the laws changed in this country, the 70mph motorway speed limit is pathetically slow considering the quality of modern cars. In most modern cars it's perfectly safe to be doing 90mph providing you increase your stopping distance accordingly.
  18. My mate had a bull cross kenneled at his place for a short while and a very brief fight with a terrier while out in the yard ended in the terrier having to be shot as it was that badly mauled. I just would'nt chance kenneling 2 such dogs together full stop.
  19. Lurcher to lurcher from parents doing alot of rabbiting if you can find it. Failing that a whippet x colliegrey would'nt be a bad dog to start with at all.
  20. He'll give you his placebo talk now Penny.....
  21. I would be inclined to agree, my lack of experience really did show with my bitch. At times I did'nt know whether to take her out and shoot her or shoot myself. Shes really come good this season (her second) but her first was shocking, we were both just fighting each other at every corner. Like you say, If i ever get another wheaton bred dog or a pup that has the same attitude I will approach things very differently. Thanks.
  22. Sorry to steal the thread for a moment Denned. Cleanspade, just wondering if you have much experience with wheaton lurchers (I believe Ozzy is a half cross?). Reason i ask is my bitch has 1/4 wheaton and she was a stubborn pig headed arse to stock break. She just gave them the 'eye' and no matter how much I shouted and thrashed her (when neccessary) she would persist to do so untill about 2 when me and her started to see eye to eye. Now shes pretty much fine and as soon as she sees sheep trots over to me wagging her tail. I walk her though them as regular as possible to keep it up. I would
  23. Did you see the Tommy gun he modified It was a bit sad to see it with all the gear on it, but f*ck me did that gun spit some lead! Yep! I could hardly believe the firepower the thing had. I would love to see the damage it would do in a combat situation. Where ever that sheriff works will have some seriously messed up bad guys if they cop one of them while on full auto! I was quite impressed with the moderated AK47 as well.....
  24. I think you might like 'Sons of Guns' Ian. It's about an american custom gun shop. The make some real big boys toys on it.
  25. How tall should a lurcher be? How tall should a terrier be? How tall should a spaniel be?........... As tall as they need to be to perform their job! There's only one way to find out..............
