Paulus, pull ya fingure out! One thing, what's it gonna be? Wilf, fishing or shooting.... any particular discipline from either? It's hard to really choose one....

The season's in full swing now and I'm buzzing. I think one of the great things about our world is the wonderful variety of 'sports', for lack of a better term, and the disciplines within. So, if you could only do one for the rest of your life what's it gonna be? Forget legal restrictions, anything... Digging to terriers? Fowling on the foreshore? Nocturnal forays with lamp and lurcher? Trout on the dry fly? Double gunning on the moors? Stalking the highland Stag? Riding to hounds? It's endless.....

Oh the naivety! The fun you could have with such a girl.....

Best sport, but you're a better man than me using a .410 for bolters. I'm much happier standing 25 yards back with a 12 bore. Always the chance of pigeon when waiting quietly too.

What Is Your Favourite Brand Of Knife ?
Born Hunter replied to Deanfoxhound's topic in Hunting Equipment
Midnight's fieldcrafter is hard to better. Quality steel and quality leather. Shop bought stuff for me would have to be Karesuando Kniven, I wouldn't hessitate to buy another. http://www.uttings.co.uk/p107416-karesuando-boar-knife/?gclid=CL6q6oDQkbsCFQMHwwoddwEA_Q -
I have a Spear & Jackson general purpose round mouth with fiberglass shaft and forged iron head. They don't seem to make it anymore but this is similar but with a more traditional ash shaft. http://www.spear-and-jackson.com/product/strapped-shovels/strapped-square-mouth-no2-shovel It's utterly bomb proof! I've drilled 10mm hole through each foot plate which I clip a dog lead through and loop the othe end round the handle. Sling it over your back no bother and real comfy. I've never got on with little 'rabbiting' type shovels, a lot of fannying around in a small hole. Get a reas

Were Have All The Rabbits Gone ?? (Kent)
Born Hunter replied to hw100ferret's topic in Ferrets & Ferreting
I'm not in kent but I'm sure we have VHD for the first time this year that I have noticed. There's some really weird shit going on this year round here though. I'm finding crows, rabbits, a hare and a roe doe dead with no indication to the cause, just like they suddenly got overcome with weakness and died..... Yet no shortage of quarry other than fox. On saturday I found a Badger literally lying dead in the field 20m from a set-a-side field margin! No sign of foul play, just a bit of blood around it's nose. f*****g weird stuff...... "2013 the year of 'the happening'" LOL -
It's good to have a couple of mates that share the passion as keenly. There's not much better than a day ferreting in good company, there's not much worse than slogging it out over and over on ya own! What made you think you had a fox to ground? Just heavy on smell? I was ferreting a warren yesterday that I have dug fox with terriers in more than once.

Not much left of that Porsche eh! Jesus!

That's grim as f**k but I found the other one more powerful personally.

Ive often thought the same , in some cases why dosent the camera crew pack in filming and help ?Seen it many of times where they keep snaping away rather than help , surely it comes down to human decency If we didn't have these photographers, we wouldn't know about half of this stuff..... I genuinely believe a lot of these people feel it their duty to do exactly that.

That was just off of my iPhone4 Bird. It's all the camera I need, infact I got rid of an all singing all dancing job when I got this phone. Nowt special but takes reasonable pics by my eye.

These are just a random two off of google images; They're of the first Atom bomb test and the Soviet Tsar Hydrogen bomb test (largest in history). There's far better pics but i couldn't find them. To me they are incredibly moving images, they mark a real scientific success with huge philisophical implications. I stand in awe of the shear power but at the same time a feeling of guilt that the true purpose of these devices is the mass and indiscriminate destruction of life.

Up Early For Some Early Pheasants
Born Hunter replied to hutchey's topic in Driven, Walked Up, Rough Shooting
The birds are whily this time of year, bit of disturbance and they'll run like feck. You can see birds go into a hedge, walk it in full anticipation of a flush and not get feck all. LOL. -
Up Early For Some Early Pheasants

Keep trying Hutchey. How's the shooting going with your shotgun? -
Pete, there's no way your bro could do his job if he carried around the contempt for his 'charges' that we might expect. He's a very rational person indeed, you'd have to be to do the job without killing them.

Where have you got your information from mate about LACS selling off assets. I'm not disputing it at all, just that it seems pretty promising and I have had a very quick google and not found anything. Last I heard they were buying up land and then selling it but retaining the sporting rights so no one could shoot it? Dunno how long that trick lasted mind?
-
Personally I think it's naive to believe anything we do is off limits to the ban it brigade. I don't believe shooting will be banned in the short term but in 100yrs I really couldn't say. They've given us the thin end of a thick wedge and our society is only getting softer and less tollerant of such activities. Look how attitudes and laws have changed from 1900 - 1920 - 1940 - 1960 - 1980 - 2000.... We can't even go out and shoot a pigeon for the pot, legally....

I thought Matt (Midnight) had packed up and was just selling his surplus stock?

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-essex-24769697 I took me oppo's dog out for him last week, he was on one when i returned, i got both barrells..'hey twatty, you know these fat necked debt collecting never killed no c**t in thier life merchants that like it to be known they've raped a male (i nodded) how do they get an hard on?...i did'nt need to ask him what he getting at. The major difference I see is that he actually commited sexual abuse of minors where as this other animal 'only' conspired to rape and baby. Our wonderfully advanced and modern justice system may see it as a

Really? That state is centuries a head of us! God bless Texas!

It's my personal opinion that no society can consider themselves advanced and keep these animals alive. The sick b*****d should be used for medical testing, test new trauma treatments that will help to save lives, then render the b*****d down into something infinitely more beneficial to society.

Here's my opinion on it before we get all paranoid. The shops in Airports and Services are only small with a small magazine selection compared to highstreet Smiths right. So they have a limited stock they can sell, so they're gonna stock their most profitable magazines which I doubt any of the shooting mags are.
