I agree WILF, I think. It's almost accepted as okay to ridicule someone on the back of an intelligent argument against their beliefs. Though I think once you're into ridicule, the argument is over, at that point it's a downward spiral to pointless bickering.
However ridiculing someone simply because their beliefs appear to you strange or idiotic is, to me at least, a little too much like bullying.
I just meant really to comment that attacking those that have a certain belief can have a couple of different motivations. Neither s
