    Keep the rules very relaxed and let everybody play to their strengths I say.... Some folks might be a crack with the camera and make it more of a illustrative story/article, some people might have access to a rare or wide range of hunting opportunities that most don't and a simple piece about that is more interesting than literary genius about lamping rabbits.     Not so much 'need' but 'want'. There are enough rabbits to go at and a couple hours lamping rabbits is up there with the best of sport on this island. I don't see any reason to have a 1 trick pony though...

    3 terms of Labour was great for everybody! Loads of money and welfare! Not so great for the country though... Being a patriot is putting your country in front of your self. In this case that isn't hard because long term the two are the same.

    Partly... but also safety and respect. A double can be carried broken which keeps everybody else comfortable in your presence and is limited to a sporting two shots. Most are still perfectly happy to shoot with or in the company of someone who is using a semi for pest control, pigeon or fowling though.

    It's a rarity these days for a shoot to have a problem with an O/U. Semis are a no no for good reason. You can hardly lump O/U in with them, general attitude towards O/U are far more in kin with SbS.

    Expect a lot of socialising, drinking, confusing instructions, all manner of birds (not all will be close/far enough to shoot, so make your own judgements), drinking and banter. And the day will most likely end with a piss up! LOL Etiquette: double barreled guns only, don't shoot at pigeons etc before the the first pheasants/partridge have started to cross, when the drive ends don't take a couple more cheeky shots, mark your fallen birds, don't poach your neighbours birds, pick up your emptys, listen to the instructions and morning brief and ffs remember your stand/peg number.     Did you not read the article........or maybe you know whats best for people I read it briefly. One example of a primitive people that are allegedly doing alright... would you like me to give you 10 examples of people's that were either wiped out by a technologically advanced competitor or natural disaster they couldn't deal with? It's happened again ando again through history. It's ironic really, we wouldn't even be having this conversation if our ancestors had been 'happy with their lot'. Chances are we'd have been the unfortunate recipients of genocide or a pandemic.
