Also I agree with everything you have said. My comment about more to life than money was in response to dare seeming to say that it makes no sense to stop always wanting more money. Fact is, for a lot of people once they have hit an income level where they are financially comfortable, increasing their disposable has less value to them and other aspects of life have more. Suggesting that those that have reached that level are just "plodding along" is naive and IMO lacks a certain understanding of what life is about for many of those that consider themselves comfortable .

And as far as salary is related to happiness, a recent study concluded that 45k seems to be around the limit of which salary effects your happiness positively.

Truther, I'll have to finish watching it later. But if there was any significant truth to these cancer cure conspiracies, and I've heard plenty, then the great scientist would just have to go to a sympathetic country and as a consequence develop one of the most profitable businesses in the medical world. Exactly the same as with the foot and mouth outbreak. The army just have the inherent ability to sort shit out and adapt while civy outfits are running about headless. For that reason if we lack a dedicated unit for a given crises, governments often go running to the military. It ain't right or fair and in the absence of a dedicated outfit to deal with this the UN or whoever really needs to short something.

To my mind the problem is with democracy not capitalism. The desire to be the best we can is what made us the strongest in nature and is what will ensure our survival. But democracy is dominated by short term greed and the electorate are as much to blame as the elected. Believe me I want to see a sustainable future. I want to leave behind fossil fuels etc. I really think we should be passing money into fusion tech and fuel cell tech and some capitalists are! Capitalism can be our greatest weakness and our greatest strength.

Maybe mate, I know the yanks are very well equipped for it with federal agencies as well as military outfits. I'd imagine there would still end up being a military presence though for security and logistics etc unless contractors were payed for. Typically though, the British take action.

Truther I see where you're coming from but I don't at all agree with your conclusions. It's a fact populations stabilise in 1st world countries and it's a fact that with education and long term foresight we can address all issues of sustainability. There's no doubt corruption is present, but it always will be no matter the system. I seem to have a bit more faith in the human race than you.

I'm fairly aware that socialism is a load of site mate. But the alternative to my mind is capitalism which also to my mind is the most natural for of society. And based on that philosophy, what ukip seem to represent I can relate to.

It's mostly engineers and they won't be trained in dealing with Ebola and the protective force that will be infantry certainly won't be trained in disease Management ... I'm still not clear what you're saying... you say politics is in our makup/society/nature, which I agree, simply it's social discussion for the survival of a group. Yet you say it's useless? It sounds like you hate capitalism and want some socialist utopia. Personally I'm quite happy being a brainwashed capitalist. And I'm still standing by what I said about ukip being different to what we have seen in British politics for quite a while now. I've given you examples of why I see ukip as different, try actually attacking those.

If you believe what the force CO has said, most are keen to go on ops. If they train for this, why wouldn't they be keen mate? From what I have seen the force being sent out is mostly specifically trained to deal with such a crisis, but they're obviously being supported by more convetional troops too. Part and parcel of the modern British military. They're taking on a much wider role than simple direct action and defence type stuff.

I also think that many see UKIP for what they want them to be, a far right nationalist party, and not for what they are a right of centre libertarian party. Those people will be/become dissolutioned with UKIP because their fundamental politics are not the same.

You're right in that UKIP would be nothing without Farage but that's because all political movements need a cover man. People respond to that. You can have the most sensible policies in the world but without the right delivery you're dead in the water, that's just politics unfortunately. Personally, I like UKIPs politics and their attitudes. It fits in with so much of where I feel I stand politically. Not all of it but it's refreshing nonetheless. They could Tomo, but I doubt they'd kill many people. Transmission is through contact with infected bodily fluids and people get sick so quick that diagnosis and isolation is rapid in a country like ours. I really do think that a pandemic is unlikely, call me naïve but I trust our medical professionals. Spain have a case.... just see if it turns into an epidemic. I very much doubt it.
