  1. Don't be too quick to pull Churchill into this. He was quite an admirer of Islam. I get the impression his relationship with the religion was more complex than most people's through his own experiences. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/religion/11314580/Sir-Winston-Churchill-s-family-feared-he-might-convert-to-Islam.html
  2. I wasn't making a comparison between IRA and Islamic extremism in terms of ideology. I was saying they represent a similar type of threat and can be dealt with the same way.
  3. These three fellas are no 'lone wolves' either. Sounds like they are Yemeni Al-Qaeda! So, Al-Qaeda in France today.... Islamic retard nut job in Oz a few weeks ago..... Al-Qaeda again at the Pakistani military school at the same time as the Oz attack.... a few months prior to that another Islamic fruit-loop shot the soldier in Canada.... Is this becoming a monthly event we should expect? Countless suicide attacks in the middle east......... a few years ago we have the Boston marathon attack....... Lee Rigby....... 7/7....... 9/11.......
  4. This threat is no different to any other historical threat to our national security..... And when we start dealing with it in the same way we dealt with those historical threats it'll end the same way. Why aren't special counter terrorism units kicking doors in off the back of intelligence reports and double tapping anybody that raises so much as a banana? Why aren't NATO forces systematically working their way through Insurgency hotspots to annihilate the enemy? Iraq and Syria would be a good place to start, then move onto Nigeria, Algeria, Somalia etc. Am I making this out to

As for Atheist funerals, I couldn't tell you what one's like, never been to one. Mine... well that's not gonna make any odds to me. Funerals are for the living, not the dead. If my body can be used for good when I'm no longer in need of it then I think that'd be good, other than that it all makes no odds to me.

Where did I say I wouldn't go? I said I wouldn't go IF I couldn't respect the cultural and therefore religious practices of the event..... which I can and have done and will continue to do. And that covers more than just Christianity and more than just religion too. Also I didn't say Truther doesn't meet my 'atheistic' standards, I said that his actions are not defining of an atheist. They're not counter to it either. Being disrespectful or respectful is not in any definition of atheism.
  7. They were packing AKs and RPGs! This isn't your average nut job attack. I hope we don't see the likes of this on our Island!

Can I just point out that that specific action of Truther's isn't in any way defining of an atheist.... Personally if I couldn't respect the cultural practices of a given event, then I wouldn't attend. I think that is basic respect of other people and their cultures myself. And to me, Christian funerals are a, albeit very familiar, different culture to my own. When in Rome............ otherwise, stay the f**k away from Rome! LOL
  9. Never mind the father land...... The French are going to be pretty pissed right now too!!! Look at the news!
  10. Nice bit of ground. Got my first woodcock for eating from this Saturdays shoot. I didn't shoot it mind you... that bugger still eludes me! LOL. Just not the ground for them around me. You should take advantage of Irelands woodcock jiggy.
  11. Have a look at the Grecian ideal. Eugene Sandow's model on what "good shape" was. Feck all to do with strongman though, lol.
  12. I bought the first book after the last TV series ended..... Managed about 100 pages and haven't picked it up since.
  13. Surprised as I am to say this on a royal thread, I agree with the republican, separatist, skirt wearer above!
  14. I like the strongman events, I like all what I would call functional strength lifts. For pure muscle power simple common gym lifts test that but the fella that excels at that may very well have barely above average ability in everyday lifting tasks, having never really developed the athleticism and coordination required to get all those muscle groups functioning together optimally. I like it but that's just my opinion.
  15. I think there's a little confusion as to what a "proven fact" is! LOL
  16. A good time to be investing in oil futures though... A very good time. Not a great time to be employed by a company that specialises in unconventional resources and a high crude price though! LOL LOLThe price will go back up mind. This current dip is completely unsustainable by all but the Saudis really. Most of them are operating at a deficit to remain competitive. I reckon its all a plot by the US to destroy the Russian economy. The only problem with investing is futures are done in lots of 1,000 barrels, with a price of $60/barrel its still out of my budget (just!). Unfortunately I haven

  18. Don't get too used to it folks, as soon as the Russians are on their knees and the US shale companies are out of business Aramco will force the price back up. Very unstable market right now.
  19. Why was a round chambered? Why wasn't the gun safely holstered? Another example of careless ownership!
  20. Grantham does love a statue! Newton, Tollemarche and now Thatcher... I didn't even know she had one. About time!
  21. I only use it for sending pictures via my wifi. So obviously it's cheaper than sending them as a normal message. IPhone has the IMessage thing which is similar, sends texts via the Internet but if you have unlimited texts and a good signal it makes it pointless.
  22. She should run for PM next year... even as rotting bones she'd beat the current lot!
  23. Had some fantastic times with the south notts for a good few years. The masters there were a bit weird but the huntsman was superb regarding the terriers. Happy days, sadly gone. I don't follow them so really wouldn't know mate. It's just become a bit of a boxing day tradition for a load of us to attend the meet. Driving through Orston after the meet I bumped into the beagles which was good. Great seeing all the hunts and shoots out on this day. The very epitome of Britishness for me.
