  1. Might sound daft, but would something like deep heat work to improve circulation? I know muscle rubs etc are designed for muscle recovery but I believe they essentially work by causing mild irritation to the soft tissue and so increased blood flow. So, back to you rubbing his feet Gnash! LOL
  2. "as long as you are hitting most of what you fire it at..." Hmmm, I knew I should have bought the Field model over the Sporter!
  3. I believe Sporter models are designed with a higher shooting intensity in mind so weigh a little more and have recoil pads. The balance is more towards the stock than barrels due to slightly chunkier woodwork. In reality there is little difference. That's my understanding anyway... Many many people use Sporter models for game and clays as many do Field/Game models.
  4. LOL I don't think I talk about this stuff in real life, only when someone sets me off. Blame Wilf this time!
  5. Mostly Cs137 but doing work currently with higher energy Co60 for iron ore logging in Oz. I'm only involved on the research side, day to day operations is someone else's job, so I can afford a bit more of a dose, lol. What you can't see can't hurt you... haha.
  6. It reduces the energy mate, but I'd rather have a foot of lead or tungsten that a foot of water for shielding. And I don't trust those f***ing badges one bit! Lol, I like to have a real time detector screaming at me to keep me on my toes.
  7. And wilf, I can tell you have worked with rads before mate, you seem fairly clued up on the text book safety.
  8. Water ain't great at absorbing gamma mate, not as good as a dense metal. A gamma has a very large mean free path in water, I work with calibrating and characterising tools that measure density using gamma sources. Water is excellent for neuton absorbtion though, which is what makes neutron radiation very harmful to humans too being % water. Alpha radiation itself is pretty harmless, they use it in industry a lot, even smoke detectors. What is harmful is the alpha emitting radio isotopes which are ingested and decay internally. Ideal for a dirty bomb.
  9. The dangerous bit isn't the level, radiation dose is accumulative as you probably know......once you go you have got your dose and you don't loose it when you leave......the longer you stay, the bigger it gets mate.Yeah I know mate. I was going to do the math to compare it to other areas of high background radiation to put it into perspective, but f**k it, lol. I was just pointing out that it's really actually safe to visit. It's not the background it's the type that would be the danger mate if your were comparing it to other type of radiation, UV is not ionising and the levels from the old tub

  11. You can go into pripyat etc for limited time safely. The background radiation isn't harmful over short periods. It's debatable whether it's even harmful over more extended periods...
  12. Well, it's important to help the old boys, especially when their minds are going forgetting how many bullets their mag holds! Haha.
  13. So you haven't consulted the t3 manual then? Let me help, lol. Mine says to depress the rear of the plate/spring of the magazine with a screwdriver. Push it all the way down and it pops out. Just tried it on my 25-06 and it worked a treat.
  14. I'd genuinely love to visit the place, Chernobyl and Pripyat.
  15. I'm not going to say anything... before someone diagnoses me with Aspergers. LOL
  16. Gurkha training for cutting taliban heads off. I wonder if it becomes a competition for who can do one in one chop?
  17. Third series of Yukon Men mate. Can't remember what night its on, Monday or Tuesday I think.
  18. I like Rich's bits on it personally. But I don't think ranchers actually pay him to chase lions about, maybe I'm wrong.... I always assumed it was a straight forward agreement, he keeps running lions out of the country and they don't let someone come in and shoot them all.
  19. You on sky I assume? Just watch it through sky plus. Should still have all the episodes on there.
  20. I've watched 3 episodes already mate, been running a few weeks now.
  21. I think he's past caring what he looks like! LOL. Pretty impressed with his shed he's built, not many folks would have the ability to do that with what he had available. Also liked Charlie's bits with him actually living in the woods trapping. New series of Yukon Men started too.
  22. They look wonderful little dogs to me. They really appeal to me.
  23. Okay, so 5-10k contract plus 9k in meat sales. Still pennies for a 3 month contract. Apparently an estimated 7k rabbits left alive on the island.
