  1. For whatever reason recent British Gov.'s have shied away from such bold preemptive action in favour of having air tight intelligence and only taking bold action when an immediate threat develops. It's shit but in our 'free' democratic western society we've taken the concept so f***ing far that our police, security services and even military are bogged down with legal inquiries and paperwork every time they so much as raise their voices. We're our own worst enemy.
  2. I do. If you are honoured with representing my country, do it right. do it right .like the england football squad, who never no any of the words between the lot of them No, not like them. Not that that is relevant.

  4. I find recoil a significant factor in assessing the shot. With a low recoil rifle/round you can watch the critters response to the strike and be able to make a good judgement as to the result. A heavier recoil can cause you to loose the sight picture completely, leaving your immediate judgement based entirely on a second unaided set of eyes and/or the perceived sound of impact (which can be horribly misleading at times). Anybody that has done a bit will know it's not always practical or sensible to then go hunting around for said critter on a "maybe I got it..." when had you not lost the sight
  5. I think how Greece fairs on it's own two feet will influence a lot of British voters in a referendum and for that matter a lot of other EU electorates views on membership. It's gonna be in the EUs favour to see Greece sink into the Med in front of the world.
  6. Was it just me, or did she f**k the last line up and say "God save OUR queen"?
  7. We have to have all the windows open at work, the air con is that f***ing cold we need to warm to office up. LOL
  8. Depends on what influence those junkies had on the children in their upbringing. If the kids largely brought themselves up then yes they are failures. If the junkies held down a job and raised their children with some sort of ethics despite their addiction then no they weren't quite failures. The proof is in the pudding. If a parent raises a child into a functioning, admirable member of society and uses physical discipline to achieve that then you can hardly call them a failure as a parent seeing as the result was a success. A complete waste of good air type parent that lets their child ra
  9. I think it's a bit dramatic to say that slapping your child means you have failed as a parent. Failed to control them through non violent means, but not failed as a parent. Plenty of children have been raised using physical discipline to become good respectable young adults..... their parents being failures? LOL
  10. Viable in this context means standalone yes. With the rate of tech advancements we are seeing in the 21stC renewables will come into their own and be far more viable than they are seen as today. That won't come without investment though. If you want a technology to develop then it has to be subsidised (either privately or publicly) until the industry hits a critical mass. As far as I can see that's what has been happening with renewables, it won't go on. The tech will catch up with the market. Coal has had it's day, I'm sure improvements could still be made but not to the same degree o
  11. At half 10 last night, Venus aligned with Jupiter. For some reason it's called 'the star of Bethlehem'. Just a cool thing to see. Took all of 10 seconds to find as it's quite close to the horizon after sunset, making it basically the only 'star' in the sky. Anybody that had a telescope would have had a good view seeing a few of Jupiter's moons and probably being able to actually distinguish the two planet separately.
  12. There was a time certainly, when coal and our ability to produce our own was important. But is it still? Being such a small industry in this country anyway, could the miners cope with a massive demand if ever needed? If not, there's no justification for keeping that skillset alive surely? I'd have to question as well if coal ever could be relied upon again. Do we have the infrastructure in terms of power stations to make it viable? Or is it shifting to gas? With the advancements in renewables and particularly battery tech over the past decade, the future is not in coal imo. Can we real

  14. Tonight dotty. The article was published yesterday. Cheers TC, nice one mate.
  15. The trouble with this silly twat is his social position, being the local landlord he's probably going to be talking to a lot of folks and he could end up damaging your reputation based on his piss poor understanding. I think I'd see him put right.
  16. They didn't try very hard with Commandos!
  17. 2,3,4,5 years really ain't that long, so don't be afraid to risk wasting them. Just don't turn those years into 15 or 20. Save 'over thinking' for philosophy, in real life it's an excuse for hesitating. It's said you're an average of the 5 people you spend most your time with, so surround yourself with people you aspire to. You can never be over educated and education is measured in more ways than qualifications.
  18. I intend to, just need to wait for the fields to be disked up and dry out so I can see the bullet splash for correction. I'd need a steel barn door otherwise! LOL
  19. I really like Fry, he's a very articulate thinking man. He was asked his opinion and he gave it.
  20. Agreed but Cameron is too spineless to sort it! We need a war leader to get the job done IMO turn it over to the field marshalls for 5years and watch the difference IMO the British public haven't the stomach. What's needed is massive allied counter insurgency operations across Iraq, Syria, Yemen, Oman, North Africa, Somalia and Nigeria together with some sort of political strategy. Otherwise it's an endless task of cutting heads of regenerating serpents, so to speak. Our forces are great at the fighting part, our politicians haven't proven so great at the strategy part. Very few p
  21. Do you have a Globe on your bedpost with crosses notched into countries you've conquered? LOL
  22. Unfortunately it going to happen here its just a matter of time Until people stop defending those barbaric animals nothing will change Cameron tells the muslim community to sort its mess out what happens he gets slated for demonizing them The only reason we haven't seen a recent attack is because our security services are world class. Not perfect (before somebody jumps on that), but some of the best. Wasn't there a bomb scare a few weeks back that went largely unreported?
  23. Better make it 500, the drop on that 308 at 1000 will be too much for the old townie to deal with.
  24. Kuwait has been hit now too.
