I don't think many folks are saying you have to be a saint to defend what's yours or for that matter that if you are going to hop a fence and take what isn't yours then you can't stop anyone from taking what is yours. Simply, don't cook up some bullshit excuse why it's okay to poach, therefore 'stealing' from some other mans investment, and that it shouldn't be punishable. When anyone does poach, they know the risks and they can't complain if they get caught. In FDs case, folks are allegedly f***ing up his sport that he has invested time and money in. The right to hunt those deer is his an

I'm not big into stand-up at all but I've seen a few clips from Joe Rogan over the past months and he's decent. An American, so Scot and Accip will love him!

Aye, the polls said that we were supposed to be under Tory dictatorship right now. We were supposed to be lynching socialists ffs!

No, it was the owner of the rights to kill the deer. I've said before, this thread will have achieved f**k all.

People seem to misunderstand what exactly belongs to who in the eye's of the Law. Wild animals do not belong to anyone, correct. But the right to hunt them does! When you kill a deer etc without permission you have taken that opportunity from the lawful owner of the sporting rights. That person may or may not also have invested resources into that wild stock to improve/increase it, meaning what is there is a direct result of their efforts. Thems a' the facts, now argue amongst ya selves. LOL Or paid money to decrease it. What's the common denominator (MONEY) So? Is it okay then for

Because my dogs are part of the family pet/worker and when he walks into another persons property he's still mine pheasants deer and other wild animals are wild no matter who looks after them they are wild animals unless you have a deer in your garden named lucky People seem to misunderstand what exactly belongs to who in the eye's of the Law. I don't really understand why your defending this fella Wilf ,lots of people have had to put up with the ,smash/kill/leave low life's on their permission ,but to threaten to phone the police is just wrong . to threaten to phone the police about poachers on a site full of poachers is a bit stupid ....all the macho posturing may get up your nose ....but there is only one baddie here Foxdropper . And what choice does a lad who values his guns have when plenty of 'hardcore' dog lads openly imply they'd make up whatever they have to to have a shooting man's guns taken off him? You have to b

Cracking animal and I'd be pissed with some f****r playing Chris Kyle on a beast that I was clearly stalking. Not really much of an excuse when you're wearing blaze orange! The game wardens probably wouldn't look too kindly on you sawing the antlers off another hunters Elk in spite right? LOL I've no problem with 700 yard shots in that country, simply the cheek of it.

Plenty of folks are shooting deer without going on any poxy course. I wouldn't stand for any crap your licensing dept might try on. You have a need to control deer. You have experience, indeed own, the calibre needed for the job. They have no legitimate reason to not authorise, if it's even necessary with the AOLQ.

Ahem....... "A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to bear arms shall NOT BE INFRINGED!!!!" Shove ya gulag commy!

I think I know precisely where you are going with this and I agree but it'd be very uncomfortable for most on here! I think any argument based on liberty would be dropped instantly. LOL I take on board these two points and agree. I would say though that the Anti's PR machine doesn't need much bhp to achieve a political critical mass, it's far easier to whip up public emotion against hunting than it is to for it. Before or after the ban imo. Also millennials might not have grown up in a world where hunting was legal but they have grown up in a world where shooting is legal a

The whole hunting debate definitely invokes thought and arguments of liberty. Just because a group don't like something does that mean they should be able to ban it? Should they be able to ban it even if they represent the majority? Don't we value rights and freedoms to protect against mob rule in democracy? There's a lot to discuss there and indeed much was raised when the ban was on the table. I was only a teenager at the time, in case anyone should think I know what I'm talking about, but it's all documented and available in this information age. As a mate often tells me "most people do

I think a large part of how the technicalities of the hunting ban were designed/drafted were influenced by class prejudice. But the weight of public opposition, certainly in present times, is primarily driven by disgust that people could derive pleasure from such an apparently "barbaric act". It's definitely associated with the 'toff' image but that's just a way of the people who feel such disgust to create an "us and them" mentality to aid in their hate. I spend a lot of time around very liberal minded millennial types. I'm quite used to how they respond to this sort of stuff. I'm also qu

That assumes that those objecting, like Fiennes, actually believe that the hunts aren't actively killing foxes. They don't I'm afraid. These days the majority of people are pretty disgusted by the thought of fox hunting. Class has been an issue in the past but I think it's very much the thought of animals being pursued and killed by hounds that is the main reason for their disgust.

Greyman, I agree that that is part of the way forward. I'm afraid I'm not at all experienced in this kind of analysis though. Something I'm now interested in though! Who's we? Who's the experts? How close is identical? These are my immediate questions. Or should I say will be the questions asked by academia when this evidence is presented. All this builds up your case though. A work in progress...

Bosun has been saying for years that Fiennes is our enemy and I have defended the man. Fair play Bosun, seems you were right.

very well written.

I agree, it's all about such animals surviving & breeding, but released & escaped animals could of survived for 10 plus years, which may account for many sightings over the years, that are often discredited as fantasy. What I'd never considered before, until Greyman started posting on this subject, was the question of hybrids? Tilimangro gave an interesting account last week of seeing a cat, that was obviously not the 'classic' leopard sighting, but a large cat all the same......just another interesting avenue I thought. Stuff like that is enough to keep me curious.
