  1. You're mistaken mackem. Why bring fists to a chainsaw fight! DUH!
  2. Frankly, he's probably at his best away from public office, drumming up the grass roots with maximum exposure in the public's eye.
  3. My sentiments too. Khan alone would be unbearable!
  4. I guess the position is a prominent pedestal in politics. I just think it's all futile. I can only think he sees London as the battleground for what he is fighting against as it's the heartland of the opposition. In addition the current mayor is possibly at his weakest right now with his public spats against Trump and Brexit. IE he has quite possible motivated the nationalist minority that Nigel would be looking to mobilise.
  5. Probably one of histories most interesting characters, to me. I'd love to be able to go back in time and accompany him on his adventures.
  6. Because the Grizzly population was in a bad way. Like the wolf population it is now at a level that will impact ranchers and ungulate populations. They're all totally protected in the National Park. The quotas are for surrounding lands where hunting is legal. Limited harvesting will have minimal impact and can be adjusted annually in line with their conservation objectives. This policy change has historical precedence with other species. For some reason Bears, specifically Grizzlies, are more outrageous to the public. "Charismatic megafauna" as Rinella calls them. British Columbia ba
  7. If there is significant doubt then I agree but I can't help but wonder if this has more to do with the politics of hunting than the facts of conservation. Nonetheless, it's another conservation success story for the Americans. There was a video of a Grizzly in the Colorado Rockies last year that was a bit controversial because officially they are considered extirpated there.
  8. https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2018/08/31/first-yellowstone-area-grizzly-hunt-40-years-blocked-federal/ Saw this in the news this morning. Thought I'd chuck it up in GT to trigger a bit of hunting related debate.
  9. They're filtered though right? The colours look very 'warm'. Anyway, hounds look well and yeah cool dewy mornings now, the season feels close.
  10. What's the sense in going for mayor in one of the pro EU, pro immigration, modern liberal hotbeds of the UK? It's bold and would be a significant victory but seems set up to fail to me.
  11. FYI I've watched 40mins of this one and relate so f***ing much. Probably a little bit because I want to f***ing marry her but it kinda goes back to what I was saying on the technology thread last week. Just give it 15 mins and see what ya think... Modern life is a shit sandwich and we're all so used to the taste we think we like it.
  12. I hope he's just taking some time out. Wilf was never far from being the centre of controversy but he genuinely believed what he said. He is generally a man of principle and even acknowledges the times he isn't! He was/is one of a small handful of members that I really respected on here. I respect most of course but there's a handful I have a lot of time for. I can say this because he's 'away'. It'd be a bit gay otherwise.
  13. Those warrens by he sea look too good to just rifle. lol Beauties for bolt a shoot or bolt and dog. Fine weather by the looks of it too.
  14. Are really dodgy places not 'shut up' permanently? If possible of course.
  15. Through @Tyla on this site, a chap I've never met, he has put me in touch with another chap I've never met from New Zealand and I'm now sorting out a trip to hunt Tahr and Chamois in the Southern Alps, backcountry style. Helo in, set up base camp and spot and stalk every day in the alps amongst the mountains and glaciers! It hasn't happened yet but I honestly don't think I could have achieved that without the social reach, networking if you will, that forums like this offer. Folks would do well to remember that even in cyber space, how you conduct yourself impacts how 'lucky' you are
  16. They should really let you off, its totally understandable wanting to minimise your time around Grantham!
  17. I just don't see how the government is stopping anyone speaking freely here though mate. Your right to free speech is to protect against the government not to do as you like in someones personal property (cyber property?). Is a citizens social media accounts viewed as every other citizens platform to express their first amendment right? To me it's on par with being entitled to assemble and protest (under 1A) in my living room. Now if the government were forcibly closing other citizens Twitter accounts then that would be a clear overstep in my mind. Maybe I misunderstand you mate, I tho
  18. What do you folks reckon to Donald having to unblock folks on his Twitter account because a district judge found it unconstitutional? I'm inclined to agree with the DoJ. https://uk.reuters.com/article/uk-usa-trump-twitter/trump-unblocks-more-twitter-users-after-u-s-court-ruling-idUKKCN1LE08U
  19. They're still pissy after the RN sank the French Navy. It'd help if we had more than a handful. We could really do with a significant increase in surface combatants and patrol ships if we are to go it alone trading globally. New trading partners will look for security assurances, national defence companies need RN approved products (Type 26, 31 & Tempest) to market and some of our peers (the EU, China, Russia etc) will look to take advantage of our independence. Trade backed by the protection of force is a much safer investment than that backed by hope.
  20. I personally think the biggest problem is not thoroughly explaining the experience, showing pictures of the whole process. A ‘trophy’ shot may be the focus but it disregards everything else that should be shown and leads bigoted wankers to dream up what the hunt ‘must have’ been like. There’s a whole story to tell and one picture of the conclusion doesn’t do it justice. Some really good stuff like this being done on various social media platforms now. Pace brothers, Ivan carter, Rogan/Hanes/Greentree, Rachel Carrie etc even National Geographic have trophy hunting and gamekeepering pieces. Bigo
  21. Yet by ypur own admission youve never met one. Decent hunters Jesus Christ you actually believe your own bullshit don't you. Got yourself so convinced the assumptions and fantasies you have in your head are facts.
  22. And are f***ing useful for any outdoorsman generally.
  23. I don't know much about telescopes but I'd say once you have seen the rings of Saturn, moons of Jupiter, a comet and the moon in detail there ain't very much a terrestrial telescope can show you of great interest. Few star clusters perhaps. Imo the most 'wow' you can get for your money is with the mark one eyeball in an area with little light pollution and cloud. Not that that should stop anyone getting into astronomy. Just depends what their objectives are from it is my point I think.
  24. Aye but did he read a book three times first? See, king launched himself into the domain of birds and highly technical aircraft fully trained................... by a book! Mad mad brilliant b*****d! LOL
