  1. Congratulations, awesome times!
  2. So it was you who I saw. Wasn't sure. I didn't turn up until it was all but done, lol, I managed to catch the 'best in show' for the terriers being judged. I thought it was a poor turnout compared to previous years, but maybe everyone had left by then?
  3. The fella with the gun was giving me anxiety!
  4. There was talk of them being managed as a game species years ago. Not sure who by, probably just a suggestion by the GWCT or some such. I shouldn't mind some beaver meat. (Que crude one liners....)
  5. Good job we're just talking rifles here. If I had to choose between a twelve bore and the 25 then that'd be a struggle....
  6. Recently found Journal of Mountain Hunting. Which, if anyone wanted to get into my head, would be a good place to start their study of me. (Obviously I'm not that significant) Anyway, you might like this article. The Red Deer of New Zealand
  7. Tbh anything in the 6-7mm range these days covers an awful lot of the quarry spectrum, around the world, never mind the UK. 243 and 7mm-08 at the lower end through to 270wsm and 7mm rem mag at the higher. I think a Rifle/rifle has to be dedicated towards small (<20lb) or large (>300lbs) quarry to really justify straying from those...... as optimum calibres. Of course there are calibre fanciers who enjoy something more 'romantic'. lol
  8. Other than the rimmy I do only have one rifle for everything. The 25-06. No desire to get in another either. I'd be confident in that calibre for anything found on these isles. It's not too much for fox and it's not too little for the largest stuff. It's a lot like a 243 really......... just better.
  9. That head would find space on my wall! Well done
  10. Just want to point out that a a nuclear reactor melting down is not the same as a nuclear warhead exploding. What do you mean by power? A meltdown doesn't have the explosive capability of a warhead.
  11. Best value cooked breakfast I've had at Maiden Newton Newsagents in Dorset. Worth a stop if you need a decent breaky.
  12. Well, after six/seven pages it seems a few folks have seen lab lurchers run and I can't recall a bad 'review'? What they lack in speed I'd expect they'd make up for in durability and train-ability.
  13. I've just read the four pages of this thread and I have one question... Is it you lot or me on the drugs?
  14. I'd be surprised if such a breeding didn't attract a lot of interest. Especially from shooting men wanting a lurcher in the kennel that stood a strong chance of being useful in the shooting field.
  15. I felt the white walker plot wasn't done justice. There needed to be some sort of revelation about the knight king or the history of it all, it just felt unfinished and a bit too Hollywood. I liked the iron throne story arch though. As I say, it felt different. It was good but not sure it was in keeping with the rest of the series in it's overall tone/feeling. A proper ten episode season might have helped with that. In conclusion I'm not disappointed, but I'd say they went balls out with the EPIC-ness and consequently lost the fundamental GoT essence a bit.
  16. Finally got around to watching this. It was different...... I'm not sure how I feel. I kinda like how it finished with Bran the Broken as king of the six kingdoms, Sansa queen of the North, Jon back at his true home, Arrya adventuring. It felt epic too.
  17. I really like DC, but f**k me Justice League was terrible. And whoever played the last Joker was a let down too. That trailer looks to have potential but I'll not hold my breath. One thing I hope is that they'll give Deathstroke a decent go at some point.
  18. I’m not one for a lot of effort so could have done a better job finishing but linseed is what I used. Also I’d leave the bark on. Blackthorn is a lovely wood!
  19. What happened to Dan the coyote man? His posts in the running dog section were very interesting.
  20. Hang on a minute! Didn't you breed a little of collie/lakies for bushing? Is this 'gay dog walker' your alter ego?
  21. The only time I go lamping is if someone else has asked me to come. I've had some cracking nights lamping but f**k me if I don't regret it a little bit every time while I'm sat on the sofa waiting to go to bed errr I mean lamping.
  22. I know you weren't a big fan of a bushing section mate and this may well validate that opinion but the bushing section is throwing up some real good posts.
  23. I thought about spreading bits around the different forums and decided to just post here in this quiet corner. Save arguments. I might extract the pig hunting part and chuck it up in there if I feel brave.

    Jobs

Money opens doors and right now I'm looking at handles I cant reach! LOL So yes, probably. Impossible to answer such a vague hypothetical 100% though.
  25. My pride and joy 'twenty quid' knife needs a regrind. It's had a pretty hard month with nothing more than the odd touch up with a fine paddle field sharpener and it's got a few chips that need sorting. My go to sharpening regime is the soft Arkansas followed by the buffing wheel but I'll be all f***ing month trying to remove those chips with the Arkansas so I'm in the market for a course stone. In the past with other knives I have used my lansky sharpening system jig thingy but it only has fixed angles and I want to maintain the Scandi grind. I'm done with that jig for good. Be
