I'm no physician but that fella does NOT look well.

Bit of colour variety to choose from there. Otherwise all look similar in stamp. I'd be hard pressed to pick, they're all to my taste.

Every time I go stalking down south in the summer months I come back with a few of the b*****ds on me. Gotta be vigilant as f**k. Can literally see them crawling over my trousers at any one time during the day. Anywhere clothing comes to an end they find a way in, ankles, waist, upper arms. I've always just put up with it. I read about this stuff. https://www.google.com/search?q=permethrin&rlz=1C1LDJZ_enGB669GB669&oq=permethrin&aqs=chrome..69i57j0l5.1551j0j7&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8 Also figure layers might help? A tight synthetic base layer top and bottom (

Seems a bit tabloid-y. No one else seems to give a shit. The bigger concern imo is the deteriorating situation over the intermediate range nuclear forces treaty. https://www.reuters.com/article/us-russia-usa-missiles/nato-calls-on-russia-to-destroy-new-missile-warns-of-response-idUSKCN1TQ14E

I wish it was like that down here. LOL

By asking that question you are implying that it's unknowable and therefore he was justified in his alleged fear that she was a threat? If that's the case then should I treat every person I meet like that, because they might be? If you really want an answer to that question then we can research the history of suicide bombers but I suspect that's not quite the point you were getting at.. Our views aren't that different really. I agree she needed to be dealt with and I agree that anyone has a right to do that. But if his actions were the actions of a man that feared she was some sort of

A woman... dressed in a gown.... reading loudly about climate change.......... yep, I see it now, suspiciously mass murdery. If 'you' reasonably suspect someone is a suicide bomber, you shoot them in the head as many times as it takes for them to hit the ground. If it was 'reasonable' to say she was a threat then you can justify killing her. It's that simple. So I don't recognise "she might have been a threat" as a credible justification at all. I agree though that she needed to be dealt with, simply as a nuisance. He got carried away and frankly let himself down. Also I don't think

Christ, by that logic you'd justify her being killed. To any reasonable person she was no threat, just a nuisance.

Bang on! Cheers. I'd be happy as nailing a few mackerel or pollack.

Funny, I thought the exact opposite, if he was a normal bloke and not part of the 'elite' he'd be getting more support.

Just all the day ticket nonsense and how happy fishery owners would be about spinning. Is that on rivers mate? Around here I'd be hard pressed to find handy trout fishing. If it was accessible for me then I'd do it but I'm just not getting all serious over it, ya know. Just be nice to have the rod in the motor when I'm about my travels for half hour or so opportunistic casting. I'll be going Cornwall soon and I'm often in Dorset etc. Basically, given the sort of setup I've got, what would folks be doing?
-
Right, so I've got a little 7ft 4pc travel rod that was for trout/salmon in New Zealand. It's really light tackle type thing (2-4kg line) and obviously limited by it's length. I want to piss about with it in the UK but given that I basically packed up fishing ten years ago I'm looking for some suggestions on where I might have a fighting chance with it. Given that fresh water trout is more bother than it's worth in this country I'm thinking of a bit of 'close range' spinning around rocks at the coast etc... Be nice to catch a few bits to eat, mackerel would be great sport. Am I pissi

Yeah, I'm saying I wouldn't have acted like that. But equally I think he had a right to act. The level of force he used was driven by his anger, not by necessity. It just looks undisciplined, ungentlemanly and cowardly, which I'd find shameful. I'm not too concerned about the protester. She was none the worse for the experience and had to expect similar off of security given such a act of civil disobedience. Bottom line, matey has done far more damage to himself than he even came close to doing to her.
-
My opinion. He had every right to deal with her but given that she was in NO way being violent he seemed be way too keen to use force. A gentleman would simply have blocked her route, smiled, tried to engage her in discussion and guided her back until security could professionally remove her. If the situation was getting out of hand then a bit of force is justifiable. He was simply angry. I admire the fundamental motivation of environmentalists and vegans etc and most often when they actually meet someone like me for the first time, who they believed that they hated before, it's a shock t

Makes me wonder two things; the accuracy of this report and also the internal battle within the White House. Is this being sensationalised a bit i.e. technically planes/drones will be in the air 24/7 anyway so really was it just plans being drawn up or were they 'wheels up' on an attack?

The native bush and the mountainous rainforest of Fiordland felt incredibly 'prehistoric'. Jurassic Park and The Lost World were big inspirations in shaping my imagination as a youngster and that has stayed with me into my thirties! It was cool to experience such places. Really satisfied the child within. But it's also made me want to find other places like this, the giant Reddwoods of Cali and the national parks of Hawaii. Similarly the vast wilderness of Patagonia holds quite an attraction to me and when I was in the Canterbury high country it instantly 'felt' like what I imagined I'd w

Just thought I'd finish this thread off with a few touristy pics from my 2-3 day trip to Fiordland. These pics pretty well sum up the natural wonder Milford Sound. The third pic is Bowen falls, which is three times as high as Niagra.

Never mind starving Africans.... can someone please direct a Deliveroo with Aid to DC! The situation looks serious!

Crippling Iran's military capability would be a weekend training exercise for the USAF and Navy. I think even that would be a bit strong though. They'll maybe kick them out of the seas and heavily police Iranian shipping to protect international shipping lanes? The Chinese though are probably ten or twenty years away from seriously challenging for dominance in the East. Hypersonic and ballistic carrier killing missiles could well put the US Navy out of the game. It's interesting watching it develop.

I can't see an Iraq style invasion on the books. I don't think there is the appetite for it. The China situation worries me more than Iran.
