    I was thinking the same. It's possible that the net effect, over say this year, is going to be lower than 'normal+COVID'. Still likely higher than 'normal'. Given that we know the mortality of COVID is heavily weighted towards those with weakened health and particularly old age it's reasonable to expect now a below average (all causes) death rate for the rest of the year. As heartless as this sounds, it'll be interesting to see.

    Mate, I posted this earlier somewhere. I took the weekly death total data from the ONS site and plotted it for myself. I took the last five complete years as a reference for this years. They are fairly consistent. As you can see, the pandemic has quite clearly left an impact on the weekly death totals compared to what would be expected. I've only plotted to week 20 in the year because the data for this year doesn't go past there yet, obviously.

    Right, I've subverted the subscription bollocks. So there only justification for the claim that the second wave will be more deadly is because the second wave of the Spanish Flu was... Well that seems a bit nonsense because that was basically due to a lack of understanding of epidemics/influenza.

    Why is it going to be "more deadly"? I have to subscribe to read the full thing and there's no mention of "more deadly" in the first three paragraphs, just the sensationalist title.

    Got a bit of a racey look to it for sure. Whatever it is, if you get it hard and trim at 20 months it'll look fantastic imo. Real purposeful looking animal.

    It really doesn't matter, unless you wanna join Wilf's gang. Which now I mention it, I think given that I have a fair chunk of Germanic blood in me compared to the others I should be considered for a senior position suited to such 'breeding'.     Yes agreed. But that's more philosophical that scientific, don't you think? We're just speculating now for fun. If I had a gun to my head I'd be inclined to gamble that brain death is indeed 'the end' but I just don't think we are able to conclusively say that. Was it you that told me about the film I Origins? Anyway, great film and I love to think that something like that could be true. I doubt it, but science hasn't put that to bed for me yet.

    I will not dignify the other three piss taking c**ts comments with a response! But no Tomo, I do not watch Star Wars or Star Trek. I generally only watch hard science fiction or stuff set in modern times.

    I would say that science doesn't sufficiently (at all?) understand human consciousness. So to conclusively say we know what happens to it after brain death leaves me a little uncomfortable tbh. This topic is a bit like 'what came before the big bang' imo. Not that I'm the spokesperson for Science, LOL. Just one fellas opinion.
