Wilf, aka the people’s princess

Of course other nations have had internal troubles, I'm just not convinced that even the USA (which is probably about the best example of a diverse nation) shines compared to a typical homogeneous nation. I think tribalism is just a simple and consistently observed human trait. And I'm not even massively against diversity, like some. I'm not for it either mind. In the last 200-250 years the USA has tried to genocide the natives, imploded over slavery, freed the slaves into a system of segregation and still now with full legal emancipation racial tensions are a major issue. I

Exactly. My point is that I don't think the USA is really a shining example to counter Stan's statement that mashing different peoples together is a bad idea. They've done great but I'd put that down to geography, resources and ideology, not diversity imo. I'm not sure it's particularly held them back much but it's made the ride a rough one.
-
No I don't have to delve back 150 years LOL. Just seemed a somewhat significant event. You seriously telling me you think there's no ethnic or racial problems in the USA? Yes the USA is doing good, but it's arguably in spite of ethnic diversity not because of it. Their diversity has been the cause of a hell of a lot of troubled history.
-
So US history isn't littered with ethnic/racial tension? The country literally imploded in civil war because they couldn't agree on how to treat blacks! LOL The only thing holding the place together is the constitution and the american dream. It's a nation founded on a common ideal, rather than a common ethnic identity.

Thank f**k someone has said it! It's absolutely obvious what has happened here. The filthy c**ts have been bothered by the keepers and got revenge on someone who they assumed to be part of shoot. Yeah it might be an insurance job, it might be antis, it might be a alien f***ing space weapon. But it really wasn't....
-
Why not! It's fun! Now, to me, we're getting to the crux of conservation, it's just about what people want to keep, not usually much to do with 'nature'. People want to save the lions and bears and elephants because they're charismatic, yet no one gives a f**k about the screw worm that the US government are trying to wipe out! (Interesting read!) Similarly you want to maintain the racial diversity of the human species. For what it's worth, I personally don't disagree with that ideal, I want white kids and to live in a white neighbourhood. FYI they have a name for that urge/prefer

Got a lot of respect for wilf personally. We might differ a bit on our views but share common values in important areas.

Fair. I'm just not sure how much I believe it. I mean how many modern societies have died out so as they can come up with that threshold? I can believe it's a rule of thumb or whatever but 'irreversible' to me implies some sort of hard barrier. And again to me there isn't one. Our fertility is ample and our population size is at an historic peak. I'm not mega concerned because my overriding concern is that there are just too many people anyway. I honestly see this 'behaviour', if you will, as a good thing. If I could bottle it and fit it into a plane I'd bomb most of Africa and Asia with

Nature doesn't do equality.... You just have to be careful how far you run with that.
-
Yeah because that thicko knows what a Denisovan is!
-
Not just Europeans mate, Asians too. Incidentally I thought it was f***ing hilarious when the study came out showing how modern racial groups broadly fit in with historic hybridisation between archaic humans. Eurasians are Sapien Neanderthal hybrids and sub-saharan Africans are 'pure' Sapien. Denisovans feature somewhere in Asia too. I think native Australians might have some sort of unique admixture as well but I can't remember. Anyway, I love it when science is a little bit racist. Everyone gets mental!
-
I bet that threshold has been taken from some part of conservation sciences? And I bet it's not relevant here because the cause of our reproductivity dropping is not the same as it would be in a similar wild animal population case. As a developed society we have pretty much chosen to reduce our breeding. Our population size is historically at a peak and our fertility is still ample. There's nothing irreversible about our current situation as far as I can see. From where I'm standing the threat to native Europeans isn't our population shrinking to extinction it's every other popu
-
We are! You wait until you get your test results then we'll decide if you are too!
-
And just to point out mate, I think it's totally fine to believe that. I sort of disagree with you but I'm not going to get all hysterical about it.
-
It's not the people at the end of their lives doing the breeding though. So I don;t believe reproductive rates really consider deaths so much of how many of the breeding stock are being replaced. Tbh it's not something I look closely at. Wilf will likely know more.
-
With ya!
-
So why mention colonialism? I just don't think colonialism has anything to do with it other that a mention in the history books.
-
Is that the definition of endangered? Last I looked native European populations was stable due to ageing with reproductive rates indeed below 1:1. The definition of an endangered species is one that is at serious risk of extinction. I don't want to get into semantic arguments of race and species but if our population is at an all time high then unless we're all sterile I don't think we're quite endangered yet! Frankly I think it's brilliant that reproductive rates drop in civilised societies. Just a shame at the same time we developed a soft and self destructive attitude to the 3rd w

Yeah, I don't agree with that. That's asking the son to pay for the crimes of the father. It's just a case of honour and tradition for me. These guys are a traditional, historical and valued regiment of the British Army. I truly believe that they're a part of British identity. It's fine to say they should just be paid and go home.... that's one view. But I don't share it.
-
I dunno quite how far you personally take that statement mate. But for those who believe that we have an obligation to take back or it's karma for our years of imperialism and colonialism then I think that's nonsense too. You don't hold the son accountable for the actions of the father.
-
That doesn't make us endangered! LOL And you didn't say that was the fact. You said that "they don't belong here" was the fact. That's not so much a fact as an opinion.
-
You've missed the point. I'm saying it doesn't matter if they're actually citizens or not, the decision would be the same. You implied they were less patriotic or trustworthy because of it. Do I think living Gurkha's would commit genocide against Britain if the Russians offered them more than us? No.....
-
I don't agree that we are an endangered species or that anyone belongs anywhere particularly. But neither of those points need discussing, just clearing up what's logical and what isn't. This is about fundamental morals. Some people feel that money and training is acceptable others feel citizenship is. I don't think logic is in question for most.
-
The private sector guys don't all just kill for whoever will pay them the most. I mean, they get to choose what contracts line up with their morals. If your profession is war and your employer of the last few hundred years tells you to f**k off then what exactly is wrong with looking for a new employer? They supposed to take up farming after earning themselves world recognition? If my country burnt me and another was willing to treat me with respect I'd f**k off and work for them too.
