  5. to be fair ive been in farming/keepering/moles my whole life (while short a full life) and ive never asked a farmer why he wants moles caught, ime trapping on real fell ground at the min ile put a photo up its miles from a silage field and all their is,is rock scree and herdwicks!! just out of interest,MMK what ratio of moles to traps do you get? up hear on hill ground (mostly grazing),there can be alot of thistles, docks ,and other undesirable weeds, which establish easily on the molehills. Its not uncommon for the farmers to have to spray them,to get it under control again.I also rem
  6. my old black bitch has fits every now and then dont know why or what sets it off but the first singe is she lifts one front let up and lays down then goes all stiff and rolls over some times, head goes back and tenses up and she starts grunting/moaning if thats the description to use? and in a few mins she is fine running about like ever, thats why i stopped working her thinking it might happen in action!
  7. we used to get them for 30p each years ago and buy 100 kill then skin them and gut chop up with a cleaver and freeze in a builders buckets and tip them out onto cardboard in the freezer so their was 2/3 days worth in each defrosting.....decent cheap feeding but getting rid of the wast can be hard

  10. ive used bars sunk in the a ear on it to try and pick up the dog but i think a better way is by barring like a post hole as deep as possible and listening down that it acts like the glass up against the wall trick and the sond echos up the hole
  11. ive done a bit of digging with no collars, mostly in forestry or peaty ground that in my opinion the sound travels better thru, i would hate to have to find a dog in say heavy clay. ive had to find a dog in rocks with no collar on and that was some mission! that feck it was only about 4 ft deep and throwable sized cobles but we had to trench most the earth. but it makes you think about the old boys who maybe in the hunt who would have a dog in for a day or two at a time trying to find and dig.. theirs a lot of good stories about digs in big rock borrans in the fells lasting days and the do

  13. No different to the loudmouths posturing in't streets on a Friday night mate When dogs kick off 99% of people panic and make it worse I know what you mean mate, most of the time its just skin the dogs end up grabbing, but owners get in a flap and panic and only end up making it worse, luckily the owner put his dog on the lead while my dog still had hold and mine let go with little persuasion, he was bleeding a little on the back of his neck but he wasnt phased by it, if it had been the yorkshire terrier on the other hand it would have been a totally different story i would agre
