  1. Crikey we are talking about a 14 year old lad, so we could start a debate about if we really have free will and the moral consequences of placing any blame etc or just say that everyone makes mistakes for one reason or another and he has now learned his lesson. Even if it was just a subconscious process, the point is to be consciously aware of what you are doing with a firearm and possibly the best way to be reminded of this is a bad experience when something goes wrong, I think the OP did the right thing and has been doing the right thing or something like this wouldn't be a surprise. Or
  2. Ignore the idiots mate, there is a proper method but what you will need is to find a collie with pointy ears, humanely dispatch it and then tie it to your dogs collar. If you leave it there for a week or so it will be too traumatised to have pointy ears and won't even associate with the inferior 'pointy' types.
  3. So the problem is they aren't getting in touch with them? Stop paying rent until it is sorted, I am not a lawyer but I think the law would be your mate's side and if they tried to boot him out they couldn't legally do it either. As far as I am aware there isn't a legal way you can remove someone forcibly from a rented house for not paying rent, which is odd It sounds wrong but I swear that's what they said on a documentary I saw about squatters
  4. Why are they miles away? If you want an example of a suffering population, I looked it up and as of August last year there were 67 breeding pairs of sea eagles which means if one pair is wiped out, meaning it could just be one bird killed that couldn't find a partner that equals about 1.5% of the entire UK population. In terms of genetic diversity that is catastrophic, what would you think is the right number to be given permission by pheasant shooters to exist? There are also 140,000 red squirrels left in the UK, so should be wait until there are less than 67 pairs before wondering they m
  5. Do you know that the 'countryside' as we see it isn't a natural environment? It's the way it is because of centuries of human management, we've been preserving it as it is for a very long time.. ..and I suspect many members on here have been out persecuting the animals that live there many a time, I know I have have.. You could almost say they've been hunted... Yes we have to manage it because we have already f****d it up, how is that or hunting relevant to persecuting endangered species? What would you suggest we do, retreat to the caves, let the forests retake all the farmland and have th

All these charities seem to think they are the moral authority and they can always justify what they do themselves as 'for the higher good'...I congratulate them on being sensible about what was needed, but perhaps they will now see others need to do it too in their own circumstances? (see I am not a bird hugging twitcher )

  9. Also, yes without game shoots a lot of woodlands and countryside would be lost. But how can you argue on one hand it is a good thing to preserve the countryside but then advocate persecuting the animals that live there? or is it only good to preserve the countryside to let non-indigenous species get shot there?

  11. What do you think about red squirrels? They don't make anyone money or really do anything so why give a shit if the gray ones wipe them out? Or if the sport of vole shooting took off, should be wipe out the barn owls? Because barns don't make anyone money either. Or what if you fancies a bit of ferret hunting? Can you released millions of ferrets into the countryside and if the native species have to suffer, who cares as long as enough people pay to shoot them again? That is no different to shooting native species to save the phessies. I do feel bad if your livelihood is at risk, b

  13. Our demise is already on its way, we are breeding out of control and what keeps us alive now isn't sustainable. So we need leaps in technology, as it is already too late to try and stop global warming and who knows what the world will be like one day, there might just be a limited group of people who live until they choose to die themselves and then another is allowed to be born. Or our consciousness will just get downloaded into the internet at birth and we won't need to worry about food or population, for now like everyone else I just enjoy my fish and chips and don't expect to see much chan
  14. And we shouldn't sail too far out to sea or you will drop off the end of the world
  15. Shit jokes, try these The people of Dubai don't like the Flintstones; but the people of Abu Dhabi do I went to an animal park last week, but all the cages were empty barring one where a small dog was sleeping. It was a shih tzu.
  16. I think England is tip top, can you list off the places you think are better since we have been dragged down? I feel extremely fortunate to live here and I don't forget it, it really makes me laugh when white middle class people in the UK think they have it bad. We have issues, the biggest one that those in power have power because that is what they crave. The absolute worst person to give power to is someone who wants it, we should empower those who are intellectually and morally superior, not just those who launch the best PR campaign and bitch about the opposition. I dislike all rel
  17. I haven't owned one but I have seen a few hunting vids with them strapped to the collar of a lurcher or terrier, I thought it looked really good and gives a great perspective. I think it was an Australian chap on here who might have posted a vid up a while ago Either way please post some vids when you get it, it would be cool to see.
  18. I saw a documentary with something with that in too, they tested people and some have 'female brains' or 'male brains' and it doesn't always have anything to do with your bits. We are both good at different things, I am all for equality but feminists need to be more realistic and focus on the equality of everyone and not just focus on 50% of the population, they want to force more women into stereotypically male roles but no-one cares about getting more male nurses or receptionists. Women, know your limits! ps women are definitely worse with pain and the warm/cold. You never hear the e
  19. Yes that's the one couldn't remember what it was called for the life of me then. I will try and pay more attention to what I see and start a bird ID thread
  20. Tens of thousands of women call a helpline complaining about domestic abuse and almost no men, so I think we can assume men are better at listening Women are brilliant at nagging about things that would never even occur to a man to get concerned about, can't drive, can't control their emotions, can't think logically or rationally, can't work with other women or work in senior positions and don't get me started on giving them to vote what a mistake that was. Men are better at sewing, cooking and riding ponies too Newly single (if the mrs reads this), who's interested?
  21. Oh and the best place I know of to see hen harriers is around Wisbech on the flat marshy land and I would see them every time I was in the area. Red kites are pretty common in a lot of areas and I tend to see barn owls everywhere I have lived, but the best place was Lincolnshire and I would see a half dozen every day. But I barely ever see goldcrests...
  22. I don't keep track of anything but do love seeing different species of birds, I need to learn more as I am always seeing birds I could swear I have never seen before. My favourites are generally owls and other raptors, but I do have a soft spot for goldcrests and love seeing them. Can anyone help me identify a bird I saw the other day? I watched it for about 10 mins in the woods, it hung to trees like a treecrawler but it caught my attention as it was pecking a hole in a branch, with considerable determination but nothing as efficient as a woodpecker (like a crow type jabbing). It was abo
  23. I bought a small hob from melton mowbray auction when i was about 15-16 and after the sale (I bought it for a £1) the seller came over for a chat and told me it was 50% polecat too. I do believe it because it was extremely dark colour (almost black all over) and never acted like a ferret and it never seemed to tame down entirely and it gave me the worst bites I have ever had off a 'ferret'. Anyway apart from being small for a polecat it was every part a wilder ferret and it turned out to be useless for working. So just to warn you, if you get one anything like mine you are going to have to sp
  24. I'm not saying he isn't a stone cold killer. He is. He's murdered at least a hundred mobsters (his favored method being an icepick in the ear to give the appearance of a brain hemorrhage, hence his nickname The Iceman). But he is also undoubtedly a liar. There were even rumors he invented a small spraying device fitted to his arm that would poison people when sprayed from his sleeve. He was innovative as well as criminally insane. I also heard he practiced using the spray on local cats. I thought he was called the iceman because he often froze the bodies and kept them for ages so
