What the fook is a rabbit pen? I feel daft asking this but I have never heard of people paying to go in with a pen of rabbits, can someone enlighten me?

What are they made of and kind of thing do you want to swap them for? I would like some more hemp nets and could swap for anything from a CO2 pistol to free hugs for a year.

I feel no sympathy for the parents at all, sick of hearing people deserve benefits because they worked X amount of years. If everyone got back what they put in then what would pay to run the country? Or how she felt bad taking from a charity because it shouldn't be normal people who pay for it It must be a piss take, she has no idea what being skint really means and has more luxuries than I can afford and me and the mrs both work full time. The issue isn't about money, it's about being a shit parent which is what they were showing. You can be poor and turn out as good as anyone or rich an

Very true, sad to think what happens to most of them and it's not as if anyone could even break even on the cost of breeding them so it seems a lot get born just because it costs too much to get them spayed. I have had a litter myself but was able to keep them all, but the costs of getting a dozen ferrets castrated/spayed was horrific so I wouldn't ever breed again. I always get my ferrets spayed too, I think it is much better than letting them come into season every year and the hobs do smell less when castrated so it is a win-win. But unfortunately I would really prefer to get some older fer

When I started out I used to think that any ferret would work given the time (still do to an extent), everytime I got a new ferret it would always do the job. But as time went by and a few hundred more trips out under my belt my standards went up, I had a team of 9 workers and I used to rely mostly on 3 of them, two would go in and run around like maniacs flushing all sorts then I would put the last one in who would always go down to the very depths and flush out a big 'orrible buck rabbit. It was the perfect team and the first two started out as nasty, bitey lazy fat buggers that a mate of mi

So what you are saying is, you are not religious but believe non-religious people can still spread the word that being nice to each other is generally a good thing to do? The 'something else' I don't understand but there is little anyone could disagree with there, but there are a couple of things I would disagree with. Firstly that you cannot take the piss out of people's beliefs, of course you can and the more people who learn to laugh at themselves the better, like a few extremist muslims need to learn (for example not murdering people for drawing cartoons). I don't mean in a bitter bull

I either cracked a rib or something diabolical was going on somewhere, hurt to breathe deeply for a couple of weeks and I had a cough at the same time which was agony. Was alright after about 4-5 weeks though, but I swear i was so used to breathing shallowly I didn't breathe properly for several months after Just crack on mate, not much you can do except to try and not and get a cold

are you being guided by GOD  His noodly appendage points the way, every time one of his followers pisses off someone else on the internet the inner sauce becomes richer. When the sauce is with us all he will once again flood the world with meatballs and all non believers will perish and I shall laugh like a pirate as they get annoying burns on the roof of their mouths. Once people stop worshipping the wrong God you will see I was right all along.

Thanks for offer, I wouldn't mind travelling for the right animal and a few hours driving is nothing compared to the 7-10 years I would be keeping them for (hopefully), if I knew where some of my previous ferrets were bred I would travel anywhere for them. Let me know how you get on mate I could be interested in homing a couple, but ideally I would like to find some older stinkers if I can first that have had a season working but it is a big ask I know.

Are you sure when you say it became 'obese' it was actually fat? Not a build of fluid? You should be able to tell the difference, but I have never in my life managed to get a ferret obese and I always let them eat as much as they like so even without seeing it I would bet it has nothing to do with the change of diet. In future feed them rabbit/chicken/quail or whatever meat you can but mostly rabbit as that's what they are desinged to survive on. In the meantime I am sorry to say but it might have cancer of the liver or similar, it beggars belief you wouldn't take it to a vet asap. You ask

I got most of mine from Melton Mowbray cattle auction in the past, I had some good ones from there but like you said it can be hit and miss. It's tricky as people will hang on to proven workers, so obviously there will be a gamble but if anyone knows any genuine sales or youngsters from good lines that have been fed on a decent meat diet that would be infinitely better than going in blind Thanks

I have had dozens of ferrets over the last 15-16 years and have never been without one. I used to get them from mates, pet auctions and ferret rescues but now I live in Dorset I am not sure where to look for good lines. I don't have any working stock at the minute so would like a couple of gills and a hob for the girlfriend as a pet (hers died recently). My mrs has looked at local rescues but some of the terms are ridiculous, the local RSPCA reserves the right to visit you without warning and take your ferrets away at any time, I have already said I will never deal with the RSPCA as they a

Could you try putting carpet spikes (whatever they are called) along the fence? I was going to do that as it seems like the least bother and long term solution, but I wouldn't underestimate their memory as if they have a bad experience in your garden they won't come back in a hurry (slingshot with paintballs? dog? well aimed tennis ball?).

I am amazed a cat could kill a ferret before you would get to it, my only experience of the two mixing left the cat shaken up and very much the loser. I also let my ferrets run round the garden but I will keep a closer eye out from now on as it never occured to me they were at any risk. Having said that, cats don't ever come in my garden as if I ever see them try or walk along the fence I let the dog out, although he is a little full-on and popped a fence panel out last time

There Is No Such Thing As A Micro Ferret!
Ratreeper replied to Belfasthunter's topic in Ferrets & Ferreting
I am not sure anyone claims that a smaller ferret is a new species, it is just a small ferret people call micro. Not sure what the issue is here as it is pretty obvious that you can selectively breed to make any species bigger/smaller or a different colour. It is like saying there is no such thing as an albino ferret, just eu ferrets without pigmentation -
Oh and we are more intelligent, your argument could be spun another way and ask why is the blue whale so big? I mean, it is just so much BIGGER than anything else it must surely have been created by the Giant God. We are more intelligent which is easily explain by evolution, but picking out one thing we are does not mean anything, we cannot do any number of things other animals can. Intelligence just happened to be the trait that helped us survive, to many other creatures it is a burden as it takes so much energy and risk to develop such a large brain and they are therefore at a disadvantage i

I think you are right about some just have faith and some don't, but I also think it goes further and some people can't have faith. I cannot force myself to believe in the supernatural and I never have had any superstitious beliefs, which makes it particularly unfair when apparently God will send me to hell for making me this way, especially since free will is supposed to play a big part. However what you say about love for example, love is created by chemicals in the brain and the process can be seen using an MRI. However this wouldn't really help unless evolution could explain why animal

Sorry if this sounds overly negative, but what Christian values? Could you study a crowd of people, or even if it is someone you have known well for a while and be able to work out their religion? I certainly couldn't (unless they don't like a bacon sandwich), people just pick and choose the parts of the Bible they want to follow and most of the rules are impossible anyway, like thought crime. From what I see the churches are more worried about telling people who to have sex with, without contraception and preventing gay people from having equal rights than they are about spreading love. S

Advice On Which Gamecocks To Get? Please Post Your Pics
Ratreeper replied to Ratreeper's topic in Fowl & Feather Talk
thanks for the replies, I really like the game type birds and they seem a bit more interesting in their personality. I would like to get three chicks and raise them myself as soon as I get a coop made up, which should be easy enough. I had a good idea of the space I was going to allow but the mrs reckons it's too small...what would you think is enough for three birds? The space I was thinking was about 10' X 6 and 6-7' high but then they would be allowed to roam the garden most days, so I didn't think the coop size mattered too much, but I think 10 X 6 was more than most coops I see. -
Depends what is considered wild, my dog would survive outside a McDonalds and seems to be able to find chips to eat in the remotest wildernesses. But other that, f**k no he would just wait for someone to come along and follow them home to useless bugger. Maybe if he could join a pack of other dogs that would be different.

Field Marshall, what did I copy and paste and from where? I just wrote a reply and I replied to way I did not to try and force my opinion at you in return, but because I know it is futile trying to use and reason and logic to argue against someone who has abandoned all rationality and will not change their mind no matter how much evidence is presented. I will happily answer any questions you have, please PM me if you want as I love a debate but don't want to clutter up this thread (or let's start a new one, the spaghetti monster vs God). If you ask me a direct question I will answer it, b

Some are obvious, because they want to be that way. But if you believe the statistics that 10% are gay, I can certainly not tell 1 in 10 people I meet are gay, nowhere near. What puzzles me is why are there so many more gay men than lesbians?

I can't handle something pointing at me, which is something I have had since a child and it drives me mad. I mean anything, like pens, furniture, corners of books or especially sharp stuff and I will have to get up and move it. I even had to move my bosses pen in an interview because it was aiming at me and I must look a proper special case...I hope this isn't due to a childhood trauma with other long pointy things Not sure I should tell anyone, it's like superman advertising kyptonite

It's not gay people, it's attention seekers that are annoying. The irritating camp men that seem to be fashionable on TV now would be just as annoying if they were straight, but would try and get people looking at them for something else, if they were girls they would be the ones who flirt with every man they see and have their tits out all the time. Being gay today is just not interesting anymore, I think that's why the flamboyant ones are getting worse and worse because they have lost their shock factor and the worst thing that could happen to them is to be normal. I bet 99% of the gay p
