  1. Didnt realise they did a baikal pump action hushpower, i thought all the pump action hushpowers were the mossberg ones which are about £600 new?
  2. As above, its about making a gun smoother, more consistent and possibly more accurate. Whether or not its worth doing depends upon the gun. Ive an s410 in .22 and ive polished the trigger sears which seems to make the trigger a bit smoother. Ive overhauled it with totally new seals - which is more of a service / maintenance rather than tuning. Then I fitted a regulator to improve consistency of shot power. I fitted a moderator adapter & an hw100 moderator to replace the stock air arms one. Then swapped out the air arms fill adapter on the tank for a quick coupling adapter. All in all i dre
  3. haha, this has put me off converting my gun cupboard into a gun room now. At least your feo saw the funny side of things!
  4. Recently ive seen air arms s410`s go for £400->£450. That incl. the gun, scope, moderator and even pellets. Thats a lot of gun for the money & will hold its value well. You can get a local shop to fill it up for £4, which will last you 70 or more shots. You can buy a pump for about £60 2nd hand and then you have a complete kit. Or, if you wanted a bottle, i recently bought a brand new 7ltre 300psi bottle incl whip & gauges for £190.
  5. Depends on the use really. The pump wont be much quicker than a o/u or sbs in real life. Although you do get some guys who can pump like a lunatic. Personally I find the pumping action does knock me off the aim for the 2nd shot a bit and even now i feel a bit self conscious then doing the old "rambo" click click in a quiet field full of rabbits. Ive a mossberg 500 pump in .410 and use that for rabbits, ive also a beretta 391 semi which I use on the clays. The semi is definately faster for me and is a lovely gun. Not had any problems with jams or cycling, even on 21g cartridges. But, price is a
  6. What he said. After hungerford, they changed it so you could only have shotguns which could hold 3 cartridges on a normal sgc. So, pump, semi, bolt action... dont matter, can only hold 3 shots. Not sure why really as i didnt think that shotguns were used in hungerford - i thought it was an ak47? You can still get permission to use shotguns with bigger mags for pigeons, pests, practical shotgun etc... but classed as a firearms.
  7. I was reading some of the transcripts from their bugged cars the old bill were listening too and some of it reads like that comedy film "Four Lions". In one, one of the guys asks him when his MOT runs out and the other guy replies that it runs out in July which will be plenty long enough as they wont be around by then.
  8. If the OP isnt sure, you can tell from the serial number. I think the first 2 numbers of it are the year it was made.
  9. Something definitely doesnt sound right, You can get pellet on pellet with that at 50 yards. Ive the s410 version in .22 and have no problems. I use 5.52 air arms diablo pellets in mine. As others have said, try a few without the moderator to see if thats causing pellets to catch on it and make sure the scope is firmly mounted. Also the barrel band on the end of the barrel - make sure thats tight. I tend to fill mine to 180, then refill once down to about 100.
  10. Ive been looking out for a .20 for a long time, they are pretty rare on the for sale boards. I think once someone has one, they seldom want to sell it! One day i`ll get one when one comes up!
  11. AIR ARMS S410K What he said. Cant go wrong.
  12. I think most semi`s would give less recoil. My Beretta 391 has virtually no recoil with 21g & 24g cartridges. You can feel 28g`s a little bit after shooting maybe 150 of them in a few hours on the clays, but certainly no where near like you can using a sbs or o/u. Ive just the normal rubber pad on my stock, but you can get other anti recoil stocks & pad options for them.
  13. Thats what ive done before, only anoying thing is that it shows you all the sky channels you dont get on the tvguide too - so it takes a bit of going through and working out which channels you get and which you dont. Wasnt a bad selection though for free. Now my telly has built in freeview so I tend to use that instead.
  14. I find the longer I leave a clay the more likely I am to miss it. Regardless of how far away the clay is, if i see it, jump on it and shoot it, then its dusted. If I wait, watch it, or think about it for too long, then i seem to end up missing it!
  15. Ive had this before on cars, and my normal trick is to get the size bigger allen key, and file/grind it down to be a perfect fit in the allen bolt. Sometimes you can gently tap it in with a hammer once its nearly the right size to get a tight fit. Ive done this on brake caliper bolts in the past which are a lot bigger! Apart from that, ive serviced my s410 no end of times and never had any problems. Just take your time and make sure all the seals are in the correct place - espectially the action->barrel small seal - that can fall out when you reassemble if your not careful.
  16. Id go for the s400/s410. You can just about get one for that price and be safe in the knowledge that it will keep its value.
  17. Excellent read and sounds like a great project. For me, I love tinkering and for me its more about the technical side of things, playing & learning and having achieved a good result.
  18. Depends on your budget and which gun you like the look / feel / fit off. Everyone will recommend different things depending on what they personally prefer. These days most PCP guns are as accurate as each other, so its not really a question of which gun is better, its more as to what the individual prefers or can afford. I shoot an Air Arms s410 in .22. I tried the HW100 out and found it a bit to heavy for me. I found the s410 carbine to be perfect. Nice & light for carrying about a field - short enough to shoot from a car or truck, and a huge amount of shots per fill. Money wise,
  19. Yep, they are nice and easy to clean. I clean mine 2 or 3 times a year and have put thousands of cartridges through it. One thing you will notice, is after you have given the gas piston a good clean, the ejected cartridges will fly miles!
  20. Thats a damn good idea. Ive been out shooting rabbits a couple of times in the snow. As others have said, they really stand out against the snow - but then again so do you. So it was very much a case of hiding down a ditch and keeping quiet until they came out.
  21. I think a lot of it is about morals. Ive worked all my life and about 4 years ago I got made redundant from my office job. I went down the dole office to see what help I could get, having paid into the system my entire life. They said all id get would be £60 a week (if i remember rightly). Id get no help with my mortgage (which was £800 a month) or anything else. They never once offered me any advice on any other benefits or help I could get. I went and signed on 4 times, and each and every time I was treated like I was scum of the earth by the people who worked there. They were so rude to
  22. Thats very true. I did exactly the same. My first gun was also a Baikal. A nice o/u with 2 set of barrels and even had the original case. Cost me £120. I ended up selling it to a local gun shop for £150 and buying a lanber.... which ive never really got on with. Lovely gun, but just doesnt "feel" as nice to me to shoot. My brother loves it, so nothing wrong with it, its more down to gun fit. The gun im using more than any other atm is a cheap spanish 12bore sbs which cost me £60. I love it. Im just as good with it as i am with my beretta. It just fits me perfect. Its a light gun, no recoil
  23. The reviews sound amazing. I`ll download this and give it a try when I get chance. Be interesting to compare it to my combro chrono.
  24. Jesus Christ, thats a give away price. These are normally around £600 minimum. Cracking guns - ive had one for donkeys years. Cycles anything ive put through it no problems. Even 21g little cartridges. You`ll love it.
  25. What this guy said. Everyone i know, incl myself starts off with a 3 gun cabinet thinking that will be plenty, and before you can blink, you have filled it to the brim and have to sell it off and get a bigger one. Id go for a 6 gun cabinet at least. It wont be much more in price. Id go to a gunshop and try a few guns for fit. See what you like the look & feel off. What sort of gun do you want depends on what you`ll be shooting really. Most people tend to go for an over / under as they are a good all rounder. Take what the shop says with a pinch of salt. Sometimes they try and push
