  2. This morning saw me and David up and about at 4am in search of a buck for him. At 1st we spied 2 badgers rooting about right out in the open , 1 of which walked right up to me and never knew I was there til he was about 10 yards from me , a very handsome boar in prime condition. We then spied a yearling doe followed by another followed by another until we had seen 6 does Eventually I decided just to sit and see what appeared . Well in under about 1 minute David spots a yearling buck coming out of the cover. I said take him when youre ready . The buck turned broadside and that was Da

  6. The phone rang yesterday and it was a farmer asking me to do her a favour . " Can you shoot some rabbits as they are eating my vegetables " I said I would have a look over to see if I could shoot a few. Anyway I shot a couple and she was most appreciative and left me some lovely lamb chops ( my favourite ) which I am having for my dinner Its nice to be appreciated once in a while :thumbs-up:
  7. I shot a woodpigeon last night and left it where it fell to pick later. When I returned to pick it about an hour and a half later I couldnt believe that a crow had literally picked the carcasse clean Makes you appreciate what a powerful predator these birds are !!!!!!!!!!!!

  9. Well I dragged myself out of bed this morning at 3.45am and was on my ground for 4.30 am. It was quite a nice start to the morning , dry with a little breeze. I skirted round the 1st field and immediately saw a very heavily pregnant doe browsing on a hawthorn bush. As I went past her I noticed a deer traversing down the far hedgerow, a quick squint through the bins confirmed it was a buck. I continued to hug the field edge and noticed the buck was now crossing the field and heading straight towards me I dropped to the ground and got ready on the bipod. The buck continued coming in m

  14. I have never trapped moles before and decided to give it a go yesterday as there is never a shortage of moles on all the farms I shoot over. I set 7 duffus traps . When I checked them this morning I was surprised that I had caught 1 and 3 other traps had been sprung with the other 3 still set. My question to you mole trappers is why where 3 traps sprung without catching the mole ? I am a complete beginner at this and any advice is welcome

  19. Sika tend to favour dense forestry but you will see them on the edge of the forestry. You may find them out on the hill but this is usually when they are wandering during the rut . The rut is the best time to see stags , you will also find wallows which are un mistakeable . You will also hear them whistling. They are very challenging to stalk , the most difficult of our deer in my opinion. Which part of Scotland are you relating to ?
  20. Pitlochry , Scotland ...................
