  1. I also have the Harkila sack and its excellent value for money . Very spacious and well made
  2. I have spoken to BASC Scotland today who are fully opposed to this Bill. They are compiling a response which should be out shortly but we must all make a stand against this as the implications are far greater than deer stalking in Scotland as there may well be a ripple effect in England . Not only that as it is an Animal Welfare Bill it could eventually lead to some sort of qualification for lamping foxes etc................ There are currently 1700 stalkers with DMQ LEVEL 2 awarded and another 1700 part completed at the minute. If you value your stalking I would seriously think about
  3. I was sitting on the sofa last night speaking to a mate about stalking when I happened to look out the window and the sun was shining with a nice blue sky . This made my mind up to go for a wander and see if I could find a buck . I arrived at the farm about 8pm and spied a doe out feeding in an uncut silage field . I parked my backside and was content just watching her for about 1/2 an hour to see if I could spy her kids but she must have left them in the nearby wood. I then decided to have a look at the bottom of the next field as there was a cut silage field and see if any foxes were
  4. Racking them up now mate. The bullet placement was spot on as the beast was quartering away from us Whens the next one ????????????
  5. Another top night shooting. That place is fantastic Martin , lucky fella !!
  6. Nothing better than stalking new locations , beats the norm . The uncertainty of the unknown is a special feeling. Nice one Remmy and V-max
  7. I took Ratcherman out last night on a piece of my ground to try for a buck. After climbing the very steep hill we eventually reached the top after about 1/2 an hour. The view is outstanding ...................... We continued to stalk around the edge of the forestry until I spied a young buck feeding out on the open hill in the evening sunshine. We manouvered around a small group of rocks and got in position. The buck was content feeding and had no idea of our presence . After watching him for a few minutes eventually his time was up and Ratcherman dispatched him cleanly.
  8. What a difference between that beasts lovely foxy red coat and that buck I shot yesterday in full winter coat , you would think we were worlds apart !!!!!!!!!
  9. His lymph nodes were fine and he was in good condition with a good body weight. I cannot think of a reason why he was still in winter pelage especially as he was quite young , no wear on his teeth and small coronets.
  10. Nice stag Sheamus but I thought you were saving that one for me :11: :tongue4:
  11. I regularly get black, and in places get some with white front legs, also had a few gingers. Last year shot a white one with black spots probably an escaped or released pet (looked like the 'english' variety). Ive never seen a blue rabbit...... and foxhunter, can i ask what a parsons rabbit is? Cheers Micky A parsons rabbit is a normal coloured rabbit but with a white collar ( like a priest ) therefore called a parsons rabbit........... Like the rabbit in one of the above pics............
  12. I was out this morning at 4am and came across this fella wandering up a hedgerow. I had glassed him from about 500 yards away and planned my stalk to intercept him at the end of the hedgerow. I stalked down the far side of an adjoining hedge and quickly got to within 200 yards of him , by this time he had stopped and was content feeding. I crossed through the hedge and made my way slowly towards him hidden by the growing wheat until I was around 120 yards away. The edge of the field was ploughed which allowed me to utilise my bipod He went straight down ....................
  13. I thought this thread was about shooting sticks , it seems to have gone astray somewhat.................. Got plenty of replies though
  14. Enjoyed reading that .....................
  15. Ive had ginger , black , silver , blue and parsons rabbits over the years .
  16. The middle crow was a jackdaw fledgeling and the large blue tit as you call it is on the general licence I think you'll find
  17. :11: :11: That reminds me Mr Darcy you never gave me it back.................
  18. Dont know anything about gayness Ian ................please enlighten us
  19. Another reason to carry sticks I find is they are extremely useful for glassing from, as they form a steady platform especially when spying ground at distance..................
  20. Quads and tripods are no good as they are far too finicky when time is of the essence. Also bipods have their use but once again useless if you are stalking roe in forestry . You must be able to shoot off double sticks . I personally have the Knobloch which are extendable , I think this is also important as not all shots are taken standing , what if a kneeling shot is required ?? These sticks are also extremely lightweight which also is a bonus.
  21. Its one of Vims .......................
  22. Thats a good bag for a couple of hours mate !!
  23. I called yesterday on an old farmer who sells hay and silage and doesnt like the rabbits eating his grass!! Last year I shot around 140 rabbits off this place so popped in to see what the rabbit population was like. He hadnt cut all of his fields yet but we had a ride around and on the first circuit I picked up a few............. Then it was back to the farm for a cuppa and biscuits before we ventured out again......... I shot a few more but it was noticeable the difference in the population to last year I also saw a roe buck which the farmer wants me to cull so I
