  1. Sound nice dogs ! Good hard runners or use the gears well?
  2. Ye mate going into new places your open to slip ups but nothing like a good wonder into the country side ! And Nans pat she had one the other day but I know a dogs will go through a lot of pain to get its quarry ! But you got to ask your self is it fair to take out a crazy high prey driven hound to lamp rabbits and run through pain to get them then in a lot of pain to get there plus it's a part of the wrist joint so it's very hard to heal with all that movement !
  3. Cheers lads ! Ye I won't be giving up the dogs ! Although disheartening At times it's the pinnacle of my happiness when out with the lurches! I've had a bit of bad luck with dogs in the past but as been said it can be a dangerous game but the dogs enjoy it way to much to not be in the field !! She is in the run with my older bitch bird but I know what you are say but it's a case of what do you do ? I'm still living at home with my mother at the moment but at 25 I don't on planning on being here much longer and she will come in the house then ! Just hope she don't suffer with arthritis to
  4. How the the lurcher brings you so many ups but the downs are far less welcoming ! My youngest lurcher mouse (the White blue merle bitch in the photo ) had a good start to her lamping carrer and had a great first season ! She was coming on well and showed good qualities ready for here Second season and September was on its way so all excited ! She had a good build up of fitness through the summer with good long walks under her belt ! So I set out with her on the 4 th for a run or two ! It wasn't the best weather but the ground was soft with the rain we had ! She caught on her first run then
  5. Sorry mate I wasn't being clear I meant around the longnets? I'm looking for a new dog not that I wanted a new one mind ! I've always liked the kelpie cross and looking at different options .
  6. Nice dog that is ! Like the sound of a kelpie cross . She steady around the nets ?
  7. Sorry to hear mate ! Always unwelcome when you lose your hunting partner ! Dangerous game but the eager running hound wouldn't have it any other way !
  8. You lot up north must be used to the cold weather ! I was up north on the weekend and I've seen it warmer in January around here ! ? good bag mate dogs are doing a cracking job !
  9. Good luck with this ! I see your ideas but I'm sure there is a few old timers not wanting to make it to public about our country Pursuits! Nothing to hide just some like to keep them selfs to themselves ! But without a dought the lurcher world does need a better Image !
  10. Bad lurcher men give bad press simple !
  11. A friend of mine once dropped 6 on a field that was in between a river and a Main road surrounded by houses his plan was it was out the way and maybe they would not get hit by mixi! Then another six this was around 5 years ago and the numbers when I seen them this summer was very high! If mixi never got put down what a great source of food for a lot of us on this isle it would of been !
  12. Some cracking pictures ! The views you have on some of the hills up north are amazing !
  13. It's a dam shame ! I think that farmer should be reported ! A truly cruel disease !!! It was by the sand dunes so right by the sea ! The local fields behind my house had one hell of a bloom last year loads of rabbits may till June then Mixi hit and I caught over 40 just walking the the day was sickening !!
  14. Rained off today so went for a good walk down the sand dunes a few miles away from my home ! Dogs caught 4 rabbits all with Mixi !!! Very sad to see ? my question is do you think people are still putting it down? Or the disease is still living strong in the fleas ? How profitable and good food rabbits would be if Mixi wasn't about !
  15. I enjoy reading about the saulki and the saulki cross ! Not seen any run day time but seen them on videos they are impressive animals ! And it must be the time of year for arguments ! Although makes for good entertainment I wouldn't enjoy going out with someone ive argued with ! Rather go out with friends and enjoy the dogs run !
  16. Thanks for the replys I don't feed them as much protein through the summer ! But leading up to it now il upper the raw feed! And QBGREY maybe I should of started a Hancock thread then we all could have a serious debate !
  17. Just looking for ideas as what you lot feed your working lurchers on for the up and coming season? I usually feed dry food throught the summer then go for a raw mince feed with pasta the night before a nights lamPing then a small bowl in the morning? I'm asking for performance and recovery cheers!
  18. Some cracking photos you have Phil !
  19. Sorry to hear ! My first two lurchers never seen 16 months not a nice feeling ! I got a pup a few months later and although worried about losing another it gave me good hunger and determination in the hunting field !
