  1. Just because its in a different country doesn't make it right,to me the cruelty is we're the boar is not being killed out right just penned up and ragged by young dogs must be very traumatic for the big beast if your going to hunt the them go out catch a wild one test the dogs then dispatch it?as for snapping a rabbits leg for the pup that's no hunter in my eyes and that's what gets our sport band idiots!
  2. We live in such an alienated world .bet that police officer never felt the warmth of a woman sad man..
  3. For me would be a small lurcher ,ferrets, long nets and purse nets and a whole lot of fun .
  4. Hard question to be honest mate I think the main thing to do is keep calm, with my older dog she never got the hang of retrieving until I done more than 3 retrieves just continuous with the tennis ball but not so she got bored the other thing I done with her which help is short retrieves so I would throw the tennis ball to her through the air close by and then she just pass it back just a few suggestions, now I find retrieving one of the hardest things to get bang on with a rabbit and the best retrievers I've seen have been the natural ones where the lads who had them didn't do anything retrievi

  8. Good topic I think it's a case of fitness more than stamina if your not doing it regular enough you don't take dogs that have been left in the kennel for months on end and go and catch 20/30 rabbits with it you have to but the miles in and build them up.i believe the ferreting lurcher relies on its ears more for bolters but maybe paulus should be up for trail to see if he's up for the moderators job haha
  9. Be carefull who you give the dog to a lot of bad people around that will sell the dog on for a quick earn hope the dog finds a good home.
  10. Yes collie crosses do make usefull ferreting dogs but it depends on what type of ground you hunt best ferreting dog I've seen was a beddy cross you could hardy call it a lurcher more of a cur had a brilliant nose and class in cover which my part of the world is a lot of hedgerow ferreting but if your up on the hills in open burys a steady collie cross would be my choice.

  14. Cheers for the replys it's for ferreting and lamping all rabbiting they will be at a good level of fitness the thing I was debating with a friend is when feeding raw food after a nights lamping and say you was planning on going the night after how much raw food would you give the dog enough till its full or a normal amount ?
  15. Cheers for the reply bird yes we all get stiffer with age ,raw feeding helps with stiffness I have found I was wondering what exactly are people feeding there hard grafting dogs ,when I'm away for the week il try and get out 4 nights lamping in and they will be hard nights so I think the best food would help a lot.
