Yeah that’s half the problem, I find myself playing with the spread and the brightness too much. How do you set the head of your lamp, tight like a pencil beam or more wider? I prefer it wider tbh, but you can’t control rabbits as well at the hedgerows. Funnily enough last night I put a brand new bulb in, but left the pins out 2mm and that’s made a difference to the beam.

Do you find eyes shine better with amber than red?
-
Cheers for the reply pal. I got rid of the LED because of the pure white beam too. My mate uses one though and catches a lot with it. My 170 is variable too, Just find it hard to spot rabbits eyes. The clulite lazerlites any good?

Hi lads. Does anyone use amber filters instead of red? I’ve got a tracer 170 and rabbits eyes don’t seem to shine with a red filter, to me anyways. This lamp replaced a PLR 500, even though it was really dim with the red filter on, rabbits eyes shone like Ruby’s to me. Been thinking of getting an amber filter, was just wondering how they’re rated.

With regards to the butchers tripe, I was mixing it with skinners muesli. His weight went up to 12ish kg. But his stamina went terrible, few tennis ball throws and he was done. Since he’s been on chudleys working crunch on its own, his weight has increased and he’s 100mph everywhere off lead. Big difference in energy

My beddy whippet was underweight to my surprise after I clippered his hair off after the season when it warmed up. He was 11.25kg. I’ve been on the case to put weight on him over the last few months. He’s 12.5kg now, I feed him chudleys working crunch on its own. Theres biscuits down pretty much all day, he eats about 2 tin fills a day. Took a leaf out of my mates book from when he had dogs. Gain 28 available 24/7 and lamped 5-6 nights a week. They were beasts! I put his biscuits down about 7 o’clock, he’s only just eaten them now. Free feeding seems to work for my dog

What biscuits you using pal? I’ve tried that tinned tripe this year but I didn’t rate it really.

When I was 19 I decided to try a cycle of dianabol. Think it was 5mg tablets, 4 a day. Felt the effects from the very first one tbh, full of energy and rearing to go. Walked into the gym on a Monday evening, loaded the barbell for military press and warmed up with the weight I was struggling with the week before. Strength through the roof, piled the weight on and I was full of confidence. I didn’t do a pct, didn’t have a clue what that was. Got the tablets from a lad in the gym. When I stopped taking them I felt like shite, weak and had to drop the weights. Stupid I know, but curiosity got the

I use a utility Stanley knife. I bought a load of blades from Tesco’s for pence. Sharp as f**k, disposable, no messing with a sharpener.

I tried the same things as you with my dog when it was young, reflective tape on a dummy. I was told by a more experienced lad that it wouldn’t work and he was correct. The penny didn’t drop on mine until we’d been out lamping a couple of times. First ever slip I picked him up under my arm, popped the filter off and let him go. He ran the opposite direction into the darkness. I ignored the dog and kept the beam on the now running rabbit, dog came flying out of the darkness behind the rabbit for a cracking chase and his first catch. After the next trip he started watching the beam. Penny soon

**** Where to buy Purse Nets + Net Guide- Read Here! ****
MikeyMJL replied to lksopener's topic in Ferrets & Ferreting
I’ve had 25 yellow spun polyester nets off Netmaker on here. All of them are excellent quality. They’ve had some good tests now and once the rabbit is in, it stays in! I’ve only been used to my mates thin nylon nets up until getting my own. I much prefer mine, easy to handle, any snags or tangles and it’s a piece of piss to sort out. The price that he charges is cheap for the quality you get. Just my 2p on the matter -
Good stuff mate. My dog was sound on half strength as a pup. 3 meals a day with a half pint of Lamlac after each meal. Cut it out at 12 months with meals. He’s turned into a solid little dog. Always looked better built than his litter mates. Could be a coincidence though! I still give him a half pint of quarter strength an hour before heading off on the lamp. Nice and hydrated before we start

I use the same lamp as you mate, but I’ve changed the bulb to a 100w Osram HLX 62138. Very f***ing bright at full pelt! It is a little bit whiter than the standard halogen, but nothing like the led lamps, which I don’t like. I like the setup tbh. I rock a 10amp battery which is perfect for my needs. I keep the bulb down to 30% ish and the eyes shine lovely. The bulbs are only £5 or £6, worth a try before shelling out on a blitz or something.

My type of staff. ?

Mate of mine has one. He says it’s the best dog he’s ever owned.

What can I do?

My vets tried changing me to a tablet flea treatment called nexguard? Wasn’t interested, read about seizures and stuff with that. Kept to the spot on treatments
-
The old flea treatments have been on my mind lately. I have advocate from the vets and drontal for the worms. I googled advocate and you can buy the active ingredient on eBay.... it’s a pesticide. This has played on my mind about alternative methods. f***ing put so much effort into conditioning and the feeding and I willingly apply a pesticide to my dog every month

I was lucky over the years to be able to source good quality flesh at good prices. Nice variety too. Over the last 6 months or so the prices locally have been whacked up because of the popularity, some their places stopped supplying. Was gutted, loyal customer for years and suddenly I was stuck. Lately I’ve got mine on red mills Racer and chicken mince. Looks too top on it. Used to be dead against biscuits, was surprised at how well he looks

The single best thing I’ve seen that improves my dogs performance is an hour before loading the car to go lamping, give him a half pint of Lamlac at quarter to half strength. He’s a beddy whippet so I’d give a bigger dog a larger serving. It’s nothing to do with the nutrition in the Lamlac, but rather the fact the dog is well hydrated and pissing like a racehorse before we set off.

Trained my beddy whippet to recall to an acme 211.5 whistle. I made sure the whistle meant something fun, like a flirt pole or throwing a tennis ball. I fed mine on the whistle too. Didn’t take long for it to click
-
When I went through this with my dog, I made a flirt pole out of a bamboo cane, some thin rope and a small piece of sheepskin rug. Then I got an acme 211.5 whistle. Start in the garden, peep the whistle and work the flirt pole. Won’t take long to click, then take it from there over field etc. Would take mine down the beach, let him get carried away playing with dogs then give a few quick peeps and he’d be flying to chase the lure. Worked for me anyway mate. Play is the best reward

I honestly reckon there will be an epidemic of people with lungs completely f****d by those things in the future. Like dragons walking round puffing massive clouds. I’ve watched that vapour and it takes a while to dissipate. Just my 2p
