Have you ever tried a mulch mate? My bed had weeds last year. I've kept carpet over it all through the winter to stop weeds, now once all my seeds have sprouted and got a good growth on them I will be mulching with straw this year. Hopefully keep weeds away and keep the soil moist. It dried out very quickly last year.

I'm still learning. This is my 3rd season. My first setup was only a cheap 3 foot x 3 foot raised bed kit. Divided it into 9 squares, and grew leeks, onion, parsnips and carrots. 16 to a square foot! Had an outstanding yield of veg! All well formed stuff. Problem last year was the amount of variety I grew, large stuff next to small. Things got shaded out and died. That's why it's simple this year. I will post pics as it progresses but I've got a good feeling this year.

Here's my 12ft x 4ft raised bed. Second year using it. Shitty photos I know, I've put my pup next to it as a size comparison. I've divided it into 48 squares, I do like square foot gardening. Cram them in. I've planted onion, garlic and leeks in the front row. Carrots second row, parsnips behind them and new potatoes at the back. Will take better photos as things progress.

Any idea why that has posted the pics sideways?

http://perfectlyrawsome.com/dogs/raw-feeding-puppies/ Have a gander at that site mate. I've used it as a guide for my beddy x. He's a nice solid pup, good growth. Plenty of energy. I've personally gone the PMR route but do give a small amount of berrys and green veg.

What torch is that mate? -
Cheers for the advice. Got a 211.5 this morning. Been giving him 4 peeps, like morse code, then playing tug with him when he comes back. So far so good
-
Cheers for the advice, I'm sure he will pick it up quickly. I've listened to the recordings and I prefer the 211.5. Local gun shop sells them so I'm picking one up tomorrow

I've had my first x beddy whippet pup for 2 months now mate, his hair is all wire. Hasn't left hair on anything so far. Not even when he's bathed. Doesn't stay wet for long. Missus loves the fact he doesn't moult. Don't know what it will be like when the weather warms up because I've never had this x before
-
Cheers lads, will order a 210.5
-
Cheers mate, any difference between that and the 211.5?

I play a lot of tug of war with him, got a cracking retrieve already. When no dogs are around he doesn't venture far and comes back immediately when called. He's my first pup and he's come on really well. Just very playful with other dogs. I just thought it would be a good idea to grab his attention because I cannot whistle for shit!
-
Alright lads. I've got a 1st x beddy whippet pup, 4 months old. Very happy with his progress so far, but he does go deaf when playing with other dogs. When I eventually get his attention he comes straight back, but could anyone recommend a gun dog whistle to use? Don't really know which pitch would be best. Cheers

Hi lads. Is Mike Brown still around? After a whippet pup but his website has disappeared. If anyone has contact details I'd appreciate it.

Interesting about the rock sulphur, I put 2 caps of ACV in his water every day, would the rock sulphur react with the ACV? Cheers delboy, I used to put a bit of blended veg into his food but his crap was stinking and it seemed to me like it wasn't being digested so I haven't bothered for ages. I do give him half a multi vitamin and mineral tablet a day though.

Hi lads/lasses Ive got a problem with my non-working staff. He's been fed on raw since I got him and I always provide a variety for him but lately he's eating other dogs shit when I let him off the lead anywhere other dogs have been. It's getting on my nerves now because its always clear that the shit he eats has come from commercial pet food, so he must be missing something but f**k knows what! Has anybody got any idea what he could be missing? He gets a cracking diet for a pot licker but obviously there is something wrong with his feed. Cheers Mike

I didn't realise a dog could be scared of a "type", the first time I heard it about my dog was off a collie owner and I was quite offended. But I've heard about it being a real thing a few times since. f**k there are some arseholes around though, I dread the summer when the dog park is busy as that's when the trouble starts

I've had this shite happen a few times now over the last 12 months. Friday morning was the last time when 2 Dalmatians off the lead went for my staff, I just leave him to it now. If the other dog starts the bother I honestly can't see how you could get flak for it. I'm not being macho or anything but the dalmations owners response was "sorry, my dogs deserved that!" Ffs
