I've fitted quite a few over the years and I always used to rate them very highly but a few I've fitted in recent years have failed very quickly. I won't use them anymore. I've been getting my springs from Sandwell fo a while now and so far they've been spot on. No problems at all. If you do get one from them then it's worth shelling out a little extra to ask for a matching guide to go with it. Money well spent.

Hello, mate. I enjoyed reading that, good post. Si's will make someone a fantastic rifle and for very reasonable money too but..... (sorry, Si ) if you're wanting a rifle for your kids to use then it may be rather on the large side. For yourself fantastic but for the little ones, no. I'd agree with the above comments that a spring gun will suite your needs best. It'll also make you and your family better shots in the long run as they need more skill to master than any PCP but we'll more than gladly help you out with any problems that you may experience. HW all the way but maybe l

Well after an afternoon of setting the thing up and calibrating the SR6's mil-dots I'm very happy to report that it's back on song. Nice one, Deben I've got to admit that I'm not exactly Hawke's biggest fan but this Map Pro 4-16x50 is quite a nice bit of kit. Let's hope it lasts a bit longer this time....

Opinions On The Hammerli Black Force 800
andyfr1968 replied to K.A.G's topic in General Airgun Discussion
Mate. Honestly you've got this arse about face. I've owned and used many 80s both FAC and sub 12. I own a 90 and back when I had an FAC it also shot at around that power. I used to tune and repair arguns for a living many years ago and still enjoy tinkering around with my own and a few friend's guns that I look after. With a springer (assuming all else remains the same) when the power goes up, the recoil goes up. Power goes down, recoil goes down. Simple. Unless you've used guns which somehow defy the laws of physics then you're just wrong. -

Sorry, went a little off track there. To answer the OP's question I'd agree with what's already been said. A decent used quality gun will be far better than some budget knacker that will need loads of work to become nothing better than below average. Just to add. Avoid Lightnings. Poorly built Spanish tat and the older UK made ones aren't much better. Stick to German or Air Arms and you shouldn't go far wrong. Edit to add.... After reading the above post I've probably not made a friend here Sorry, mate -

How the hell have you come to that conclusion?? If you've only shot one it must've been a very bad example. I've shot 2 different HW80s. Both brand new shop bought guns. They are accurate but the recoil compared to other springers is brutal and unnecessary for a sub 12ft/lb rifle. They are designed as 20-30 ft/lb air rifles and at 12ft/lb they just aren't efficient. I suspect with some work they can shoot a lot better but I would not recommend an HW80 @ 12ft/lb for a new shooter. Maybe "absolutely horrible" is overboard. First choice for a FAC springer. Sorry, mate but what -
It's good to back ain't it, mate. Is that up around the top side of Otley? The lay of the land looks familiar.

I asked a similar question about a year ago and went with Tony's (Phantom) advice and went for the Beeman 2004. It's been a cracking little plinker for me and my boys to use. Very accurate and plenty enough power for a bit of fun with targets. Recomended.

Hw98 Sfs S1 Tuned Tonight At Glevum Club
andyfr1968 replied to zini's topic in General Airgun Discussion
Nah. You can't produce that kind of accuracy with a springer especially not with a break barrel. Nicely done, Si. -
The .20 HW90 that I have now. It's been in the family for sixteen years now and I'll never part with it. It's more accurate than I'll ever be and has been utterly reliable. I miss the .22 Diana 52 that I had many years back on FAC. 32ft-lbs of dependable accuracy. Lovely rifle.

Respect to you, mate. Accurate shooting with that caliber in a sub 12 takes some mastering. Nicely done

My HW90's sixteen years old now and has two quite large knots on the bottom of it's forend that have never opened up or given problems. Like Moxy's said, don't worry too much and they can give the stock a distinctive look.

Ready To Snap ! Bsa R10 Help
andyfr1968 replied to one-in-the-net's topic in Rifle Reviews, Technical Help and Tips
I know sod all about PCPs but I did a service on a TX200 last year that had left the factory with no lube at all. Not a trace of oil or grease anywhere so It's not just BSA and don't get me started about some recent HWs. -
I'm up for that, mate I'll PM you now.

Licensing Of Low-Powered Airguns
andyfr1968 replied to Fieldsports's topic in General Airgun Discussion
Done. I agree with what both Clubshot and Fieldsport have said even though they are at opposite ends of the spectrum. At one side what's the point? They don't have the resources to impliment the laws but at the other, if we do nothing and some do-gooding self serving muppet wins we're f****d in the long run. -
It seems more and more rare these days to get good and fast customer service but I'd just like to give a little praise to Hawke's here. The scope was loosing zero and the adjuster turrets seemed a bit random when I was trying to set it back up. I returned the faulty Map Pro back to them early last week and within two days they'd tested it and sent me an email to say that they couldn't find a fault. I replied with a little more detail and asked if they could test it again and within a few hours they'd replied saying that they'd found a suspect leaf spring that they'd replaced. The scope was

They don't like being left idle for long periods of time, they can leak air. A service kit for the rams costs very little and they're very easy to work on so long as you've access to a suitable pump.

I think it's what was sold here as the Apache. Like Mick's said, it's a plinker but not a bad one. A little spit and polish won't hurt.

Check this out http://www.hawkeoptics.com/chairgun.html#.UgQq9tK-m8A It's ment for Hawke's kit but the software's easily doable with other folk's gear and the relative numbers will give you a good idea as to what's what.
