Howdid you fix this I suspect that the one I'm looking at hasn't had much use At the time, I didn't have access to a pump so my local gunshop topped it back up for me. Since then me and my mate have cobbled up a suitable pump using a bicycle shock pump with the correct adapters for the 90.

Best break barrel available, in my opinion. I've had mine since 1997 and the only problem I've ever had with it was it leaked a little air after a two year lay off. They don't like being left idle for long periods. Mine's sub 12 in .20 caliber and is as sweet as you like. Silky smooth, low recoil and very quiet for a springer. A friend of mine has one on ticket that shoots at around 20ft-lbs (.22) and even at that power there's not much more recoil than mine and still very smooth and easy to get on with. The most noticeable difference is that his is a lot harder to cock than mine. 20ft-lbs,

Air Arms Khamsin Help !
andyfr1968 replied to welshhunterboy's topic in Rifle Reviews, Technical Help and Tips
The link below may help, mate. One thing I will say though is when you take the trigger apart make notes as to where everything goes. They can be a bit of a pig to get right otherwise. https://www.gunspares.co.uk/products/24240/SideleverKhamsin/ -
I totally get what you're saying, mate. I'm just a normal working bloke who's mostly worked for myself. I'm after a days wage for a days work. I can, however, see the other side of the fence. There's been more than one business opertunity that I've invested heavily in that hasn't worked out so I do respect those who give it a go so long as it's it's legit and no one's getting ripped off. Take this gig for example. I've had more than my share of being pissed around by folks, either buying or selling on the private market for this kind of thing to appeal to me (not this one but maybe som

It's nothing new, mate. It's just the basic premis of any type of dealing, whatever the product might be. If the seller can't sell any item for a given price then it's time either improve their goods or lower the price if it ain't selling. A lot of folks don't want the grief of selling privately because of not wanting the hassel. Also, whoever it is behind any type of business they're the ones who've had the nouse to set it all up and do the groundwork so why shouldn't they get some reward for their hard work? If you have a problem with this then maybe you should set up a similar non-profi

Taking whoever it is who's behind the idea out of this for a moment, I don't get why folks are getting arsey about the business model. It's called retail. Buy something for the best price you can then sell on for a profit. If the seller's not happy with the deal then don't sell. What's the problem? Businesses have been running with the same basic idea since commerce began, it's how the world works wether you like it or not. I'm not having a go at anyone, just stateing an opinion.

I tried it a few years ago and couldn't tell any diference but I do wash them as they do sometimes have swarf in there. Aren't most cutting fluids fluorocarbon based?
-
That's pretty much full price, mate. Plus your warrenty may be void and Hawkes do have a fairly regular habbit of falling to bits.

Interesting.... Reading the text reminded me of being at work. The Scandanavian twang's so cool. Was it Denis, Soren or Michael by any chance?
-
I don't really know about price but personally I'd rather have something that's been looked after from that vintage than a brand new one. They were properly screwed together back then. The worst that you should be looking at is a service kit for around £45 and an easy DIY fit. If the price is sensible then go for it and enjoy.

Hw80 Conversion From Gas Ram To Spring
andyfr1968 replied to si7790's topic in Rifle Reviews, Technical Help and Tips
Are you sure it's an you have and not a 90? There were some kits available for the many moons ago but they weren't very reliable, if memory serves. If your HW is shooting below 12 then they have a fairly soft recoil. Some Theobens have quite a sharp recoil and can break scopes though and many of the reports about rams leaking are non-refilable after market kits. If you have access to a pump, all the better but they should hold pressure for years given regular use. They don't like being left idle for long periods. You don't need a spring guide if you convert it but it won't hurt. It'l -
Hw80 Conversion From Gas Ram To Spring
andyfr1968 replied to si7790's topic in Rifle Reviews, Technical Help and Tips
It's an easy job but why would you want to? My 90's been utterly dependable in the seventeen years I've owned it. If you do decide to do it all you need to do is de-gas the ram, strip it and take out the inner steel tube then replace it with the steel spring for the . Job done. -
Kral Devil Or Bsa Meteor ?
andyfr1968 replied to fox assasin's topic in Rifle Reviews, Technical Help and Tips
Out of the two, I'd go for the BSA but to be honest you'd be much better with something used than either of them new. Pretty much anything German or Air Arms would be a much better bet for hunting. As for maximum range, that depends on you. It's whatever distance that you can reliably place pretty much all your shot within around an inch group. Weather that's ten yards or sixty. -
One more thing. Unless you're using a fairly high-end scope there's a good chance that your zero will shift when you alter the mag. Decide what magnification you like, zero with that and stick with it. If you need to change mag for any reason, re-check your zero.

I got myself a tin of AA Fields this aft in .22 (batch number 32 30 6 2011) and some had damage to the skirts. I spread them out on a kitchen towel and removed about 50 or so pellets that were not too good. After gently pressing a 6mm ball bearing into their skitrs, all was then good. Only about five pellets were fit for the bin. I know it's a pain but it didn't take long and I only paid £8 for them from Swillington Shooting Supplies. Something to do whilst watching shite on the telly.

As above. You'll only get about 15ish ft-lbs from a 35 before it turns into a total dog to shoot so there's really no point. As Simon's said, the is a much better bet but also have a look at the Diana side-levers, the 48,52 and 54. An easy and managable 30 or so ft-lbs in .22.

The Webster/pianoman 80. A Few Pics.
andyfr1968 replied to andyfr1968's topic in General Airgun Discussion
Thanks, lads. My boys are made up. We've not had chance to get out properly yet but hopefully it'll be soon. Simon. Sorry for the delay, I've been away for a few days and have not had internet access. I'll give Paul a shout this evening, mate. Him and his family have been away over Christmas but they're back now. Give me a ring when you get the chance. All the best for the new year and please give our regards to Helen. -
The Webster/pianoman 80. A Few Pics.
andyfr1968 replied to andyfr1968's topic in General Airgun Discussion
Thanks, Mick Starting at the top. Top of the pic is my HW90, EB 6x44, Stealth mod (shit as a moderator but the balance of the rifle is lovley). Second gun down is Toby's Hatsan 55S. A lovely little EB 4x32 scope from Webster. Welsh Willie tuning kit and a lot of work to the internals. This gun was a gift to him and was brand new. The standard internal finish is total shite. Grease where there shouldn't have been and sod-all where there should. Swarf and rough edges all over the thing and rust (!!) on the piston and cylinder. After a fair bit of work though, it's tunred out to be a decent -
Well as it was hoofing it down and blowing a gale for most of the day, our trip to the farm was cancelled. Instead we spent the afternon plinking so that my boys could get to grips with their rifles. My old computer has issues posting photos so I emailed them to Moxy who will post them up for me when he can. Cheers.

Huge Thanks To Pianoman And Webster.
andyfr1968 replied to andyfr1968's topic in General Airgun Discussion
I was just kidding, Simon . You'll get bored with your blow-up rifle eventually Are we going to have a chance to meet up before you and Helen move? Your place or mine, it'd be nice to have a proper go with your Daystate and I can show you what I've done with your old action. It'll never be as nice as your other but it's not come up too bad. Edit to add.... It's responded well to a de-tune and seems to prefer the .177 barrel that I've fitted. It's lost a lot of the harshness that it had before. -

Huge Thanks To Pianoman And Webster.
andyfr1968 replied to andyfr1968's topic in General Airgun Discussion
All done and dusted today, Webster. Had it in bits for a service and fitted a new-ish spring taken from Simon's 97 that was left over after fitting one of SFS's kits . An old .177 barrel that originally was fitted to my 90 when I first got it with some random moderator that was kicking about stuck on the end. A very consistant 11.3 ft-lbs and topped off with my old and trusted Leapers 2-7x32 scope. The EB 4x32 now sits nicely on Toby's very much fettled Hatstand 55S and I'm going to try the Nite Eye on my 90 and hope that it doesn't break another Hawke scope. I've not had much luck with the -

I've been better, Mick, but I'm ok. Are you going to Newark with us on the 6th? Nice one! Beer o'clock after work then. -
Huge Thanks To Pianoman And Webster.
andyfr1968 replied to andyfr1968's topic in General Airgun Discussion
They've both shot up this last year, Mike. Toby's been happily shooting with the modded Hatstand and the will be perfect for Oscar who's been mugging me for my 90 in recent months. The last few times we've been out I've been playing backup with the little Xocet. -
You'll have to re-zero a springer whenever you need to take off or re-mount a scope mounted light. I use a Led Lenser head torch. Saves messing about.
