LMFAO!!!! I never want you to say that again to me, Tony!! I think we must have been typing at the same time there. I'll skip the Ginsters and go for some proper nosh when I'm down there.
-
You sarcastic git Will you teach me how to do that too, please?
-
You'll suffer a big power drop with Co2 if you cut much off it, mate. Best left alone.
-
If you get the chance to shoot it, shoot it again before you go near it. They're tough and vicious little buggers, minks.
-
My mate has the 10x and he really gets on well with it. It's not my cuppa though as I find the ret far too fussy but that's just me. Have a look at the Nikko Platinum 8x56 too for field use. They're a nice bit of kit if you like a good strong fixed mag scope. Edit to add.... Sorry, it's the Viper my mate has. Don't know about the other.

Miles???

Interesting post. The next time I'm on the plains in SA I'll leave the muzzle break at home. I did wonder why the PHs were giving me funny looks.
-
The bloody thing very nearly went in the stream, Simon!! I just don't want it anymore and after seeing your three fail and another couple of friend's Hawkes go wrong I've lost all faith in the brand. I'll try for a replacement and hope for the best. Like Chris has said, maybe like so many other things these days the quality's not what it used to be. Shame.
-
I know they're not all dogs but just out of interest, what gun has it been fitted on?
-
If you're after something decent that won't break the bank, have a look at the Nikon Prostaf range or Nikko Sterling Platinum. They're not full of fancy features but they're built to last with good optics. Best of luck though on finding a WTC. They were a cracking scope.
-
For the price, they do have very good opticts but they seem to be built with snot and wishful thinking. Mine was fitted to a very smooth HW90 that runs at around 10.5 in .20 and the turd couldn't handle that. Twice! They're long on features but sadly lacking on build. I'll contact them next week but it's the last time that I'll fit a Hawke to a springer. Edit to add... My old EB 6x44 now lives back on the 90. An utterly depeadable oldschool fine 30-30. My next purchase will either be a Nikon Prostaf or Niko Sterling Platinum.

kinder egg bit made me lol guess you wont be buying another then! Not a fookin' chance, Scot!!

They'd sell Hawkes. They say the hardest advice to take is your own and this is a classic case. I've seen these scopes fail many times over the years on springers, one friend of mine's had three go tits up in the last four years so I've always advised that they're not the best choice. Anyway, about a year ago I got myself a Map Pro ( I think the Pro is short for problems...) mainly because I really liked the SR6 ret. I didn't actually get around to using the thing until a couple of months ago but the thing quickly developed problems. To be fair, Deben promptly repaired it and sent it b

Ill Not Be Back Out For A While
andyfr1968 replied to bigmac 97kt's topic in General Airgun Discussion
Bloody hell, mate, that's no good. I really hope it all works out for the best and I'm sure it will. -
So happy times ahead then, Simon BTW, your stock's ready.
-
As has already been said, especially in .22 with a springer you'll suffer a fair old drop in power. If the thing's doing around 11 for example, expect a drop to around 9.5. In .177 however, I've had very good results with these. The muzzle energy is a little lower ( relatively) but they fly very well and hit hard at distance. Worth a try.

£145 for what exactly??

Does Anyone Own A .20 Or .25 Hw97K Or Kt
andyfr1968 replied to Andy_c's topic in General Airgun Discussion
I've mainly used .20 for about five years now and I really do rate it. My HW90 shoots very well with most of the quality brands but the nod goes to H and N FTTs closely followed by Baracudas and Loguns. There's loads of pellets to choose from but sadly most gun shops don't stock many (if any...) so it's a case of looking on the web but so long as you stick to the main brands you shouldn't go too far wrong. I've only used a .25 many years ago and that belonged to a mate so I can't really comment but Daz7 on here speaks very highly of it so it may be worth asking him. -
Will do but a front sight won't go back as the dovetails have been filed off. Chambers is as good as most but hopefully the seals have just gone dry or been contaminated. They're very often the cause for rams leaking. HW really take the piss for a seal set for these. Two 'o' rings and a scraper ring for nearly twenty quid, from what I can remember after postage.
-
I had to take it off to fit your 90 into my longest gunbag. It seems to be a pretty useless bit of kit from what I can tell. I fitted it to my own 90 and it hardly seemed to make any difference. I'll strip, clean and re-lube the ram in your's then pump it back up to see if there's any leaks. Hopefully it won't need a seal kit but we'll know next week.
-
I know what you mean, Simon but I'd only check it out for myself in the field anyway. I do use Chairgun but only as a rough guide.
-
Now't wrong with a fish dinner!! I'm pretty happy with the scope. 30 yard zero then one dot at 40, two at 45, three at 50 and the final dot at 55 with 60 being just a tad over the thick part of the post. That's set on 8x. FTTs work very nicely with this in .20. Edit to add... I think I'll re-zero it to 30 yards useing the first mil-dot above the cross hair next time out. Having thought about it, this would make sence. A primary and secondary zero would seem to make the best use of my kit.
-
It's mainly the SR6 ret that's drawn me to it, Mick. It's little more than a fine 30-30 with some sensible mil-dots. It'll probably just break again at some point as Hawkes so often do on springers but finger's crossed!! They're long on features but short on build.....
