I've been better, Mick, but I'm ok. Are you going to Newark with us on the 6th? -
Huge Thanks To Pianoman And Webster.

If it's just the jaws that are bent, I can most likely fix that for you, Skot. Give me a shout. -
Ages ago I did some work on Pianoman's springers (before he jumped ship...) and as a 'thankyou' he gave me an old HW80 action that he had laying about. It's been propped up in the corner of my livingroom for months, pretty much forgotten about until recently. A few weeks back I put a reply to a thread about stocks, half jokeingly asking if anyone had an old stock kicking about for not much cash. This was when Webster then kicked in saying he had a Mk1 stock that was no longer needed. He very kindly let me have the thing FOC and also chucked in a couple of scopes that were surplus to requi

A mate of mine shoots with a Diana 52 that runs at just over 20 in .177 that groups best with JSB Exacts.

Nikko Stirling Illuminated Any Good
andyfr1968 replied to Geordieboy's topic in General Airgun Discussion
Lense quality has more to do with low light performance than size, especially in low end scopes. I've owned and used a good few Nikko scopes and they've been ok for what they are but I agree with some of the above comments, the ones I've used didn't perform well in low light compared to some others. Cheap and cheerful but they tend to last are are strongley built. Hawkes do have very good quality glass for the price and are strong on features but but some of them are held together with snot and wishful thinking and their customer service (in my experience) is shit. I wouldn't have one -
Have a good one, Craig. Play nice and stay safe.

I've used these before with suprisingly good results, Frank. Shame they're so bloody expensive though. Make sure your barrel's properly clean before trying them and give it a good twenty or so shots before target testing them. Edit to add.... The copper coating will not harm your gun's barrel so no worries there.

I hope you had a good one, Wurz. http://www.sick-cards.com/cards/birthday-gun/

Unless the gun was originally tuned by them as FAC then there's no way that it will have left their place running at that. Someone's been messing with it.

Prometheus Pellets
andyfr1968 replied to Blackbriar's topic in Rifle Reviews, Technical Help and Tips
Forget them, mate. They're only for dick-heads who only want to brag about how far they'll shoot through a phone book. Utterly crap in any practical application. Other than phone books........ -
Hello mate and cheers for the PM. ukhunter's answered it spot on. Just make sure when you tap the valve (gently) that you only release a very small amount of air at a time and you will need a chrono. Good luck.
-
What rifle is it, mate?
-
I love shooting with springers and I know what you're saying but if it's your job and you get paid by results then maybe look at another PCP. A decent Rapid may well be the answer.
-
Is that the combro or the xcortech? Is it easy to line up through the xcortech one? It was the Combro, mate. I've had no dealings with the other one.
-
If you can line it up straight it'll probably be OK on a fixed barrel. I had one for about five shots until it broke on a break barrel. The mount just snapped. Flimsy crap, IMO.
-
HW have a habbit of useing specific sized 'o' rings, not the normal off the shelf stuff. You'll probably need their part, mate.

Getting The Truth From The Man Himself
andyfr1968 replied to zini's topic in General Airgun Discussion
I've seen some of the crap that's been posted about Tony's work. I've never met the man and I've not had the pleasure of shooting with one of his guns but I have fitted a few of his kits to some of my mate's rifles and they've always been spot on. You can't 'tune' a springer by filling it full of grease ( as some have said), that's just bollox. I'm no expert but I've got a vague idea about what's what and I respect the opinions of the lads who sing his praises. Some folks just don't seem to know when to wind their necks in and call it quits. -
Just Chronoed My New Old 80
andyfr1968 replied to webster's topic in Rifle Reviews, Technical Help and Tips
The early OX springs were pretty decent quality so it may well be an 80's vintage spring that's still going strong. Ditch the piston weight and run it again. It may be all that it needs. -
Should I Change My Rifle?...slavia 634
andyfr1968 replied to pmatty77's topic in General Airgun Discussion
A Stoeger-Smk- Hatsan-whatever would only be a step sideways from what you already have. If what you've got is doing the business for you then get used to it and keep it. Budget guns are pretty crap, to be honest but they do have their uses especially after a bit of TLC. You can't really polish a turd but you can roll it in glitter. There's loads of after-market kits available but what's the point? If you're on a budget then look at something used. Pretty much anything German or Air Arms from a few years ago will be a shed load better than some brand new bargain basement shonker. If yo -
Taz, after reading through some or your posts you clearly know your stuff about birds which is something I know feck-all about but if I'd utterly no clue about a subject I'd at least have done a little bit of research before asking. It'd be like me asking you should I feed my poults on steak? As has been said, yards is a big ask for any sub 12 airgun. Getting in closer is the answer or again as has already been said, maybe go for FAC, air or preferably RF if that's an option. No hard feelings, mate.

Looks like you all had a good time. I'm sorry that I couldn't make it but personal circumstances kept me close to home.

I've read some proper shit on here recently but this one takes the prize.
