    I agree with this ,dogs that are regularly aggressive to others are an unmitigated nuisance,and aggression towards other dogs has no bearing on their working ability. Two of the hardest most courageous dogs ,I have known ,[both from the Cumbria area ],owned by a very well know lurcherman], were completely chilled out and placid around other dogs,one of them , " Cougar", was a monster on Deer and Fox, had teeth like an alligator ,yet was a sweetheart in canine company,[unless attacked]. Its as though they know what they are capable of and dont need to keep posturing,and showing their teeth.On

    I would agree with you Joe ,aggression towards other dogs is a pain in the arse. I have read that one of the most outstanding coursing lines,are noted for being "dodgy with other dogs", not a positive trait to breed into your line. I am interested to hear what others think of the comment by a poster ,regarding Wheaton crosses.I have no experience of them,are they known for aggression towards other dogs? Comments would be welcome.

    My Uncle Bill had a dog Paddy , he was out of his old collie x, Nell this was just after WW2,Paddy was born with a stump of a tail ,he caught all game that was around in Kent,hares,[given no law],just hunted up, ducks taken off dykes,several pheasants and partridges,and countless bunnies, maybe he would have done better with a full tail ,but he kept the pot filled in tough times.

    i just googled dog tripe and came across a breakdown of tripe and it says tripe is 15% protein and 11% fat plus its got loadsa other goodys in it like probiotics and minerals yis wurzil. I don't rate it as a mainstay.

    If you are sure it is not a medical problem ,try the dog on lamb ribs/breast,you can usually pick them up from a butchers for a small sum, they have a good fat content in them. My three dogs have rabbit as their mainstay meat, because I get a lot of them, but there is allmost zero fat in it,the same goes for venison. High protein but low in fat. Your dog needs more fat in its diet by the sounds of it,I ring the changes once a week with a couple of tins of pilchards in tomato sauce between them, a few eggs ,half boiled as well ,you might try a spoonful of cooking oil in its grub too.     Well aren't you the clever one? I used people's initials because ,I dont like to put peoples names up without their consent. Big liks Father had two dogs stolen not long ago ,so I think it is best to be cautious about using peoples names and telling all and sundry what dogs they have got.Its called common sense. For your information ,I know very well who these people are ,I have coursed with Bigliks and his father in the Calendar Club,Bigliks was only a lad then, and some of the dogs running were Spindles,Midnight,and Ink,old school coursing men would recognise their names. I beleieve he said he or his brother G.L. have bought Peggy from Bigliks Dad.C.W. wel its my pup mate ya sure ya got shown this pic is I'm not doubting it's your pup,the one shown to me was in the back of a double cab, spitting image of it,ATB with it next season.

    I remember the third one in the top photo when he was rough coated. Do you rmember the banter between a man who could run almost as fast as his dogs: he was ribbing A. about his long flowing bleached (by the sun) hair and making out he'd just come from the hair salon: to which A. replied, looking straight at R's bald pate: "Well at least I've got some hair to style" Got that exchange on video somewhere: I fell about laughing at the time. Yes that was priceless,R never tried that one again! I wouldnt call A exactly garrulous ,but when he speaks, its to the point!Happy Days.

    The ground they were running on should have given the dogs the advantage,yet they struggled to put a bend in, and 3 dogs behind a hare is absurd.I don't think any of those dogs would find a UK home in a committed coursing mans kennels .
