  1. Sensible words and a canny decision there Inan Bottom line with most dog shows is that they are primarily 'beauty contests',..and nothing more than that. Folk have always enjoyed pitting their dogs, against one another, be it on the field, or in the show ring, and it is the competitive element in such people that can cause bad feeling.. I've stood in the centre of the ring, on many occasions and seen the look in the eyes, of some competitors, and they sure as hell hadn't travelled half way around the UK , just for some lighthearted craic.... They are in it, to win it,... Tha

  3. Well done Bosun... That is a well considered reply, ...and worthy of consideration... All the best,.CHALKWARREN...
  4. I'm pleased for you guys,...THIS is what the Hunting Life should be about...
  5. Your pal is a lucky fellah,... I've never caught an unusually coloured mole,.and I'm trapping most days. I've always wondered how I might feel as I lifted a trap out with an Orange mole,.or,.an Albino I bet it would be,.EMOTIONAL...
  6. Superb run,.fabulous dog and a real strong hare...
  7. I would agree 100% with your most erudite comments
  8. You should of moved your tired arse a bit quicker,... Talpa Traps just love a compulsive burrow blocker
  9. seem s some folk think moles spend all day pushing soil in front of them , the reason the traps are plugged is cos the mole knows its there and either goes round it or usually under it , most plugged traps are filled from underneath which is obvious by the new tunnel under the trap, my findings anyway, i cannot see moles being different in different parts of the country @ Moley....
  10. Me and the Fat Whippet are on our way... I've never been to Cornwall,....
  11. Nasty devious tricks and treats... Personaly,...if a dog is biting folk,.or killing livestock,..well,..that is his lot... But,.for me,..it is never right, maiming and wounding a beautiful jukel ,.simply for killing a poxy old hare... Ruck the owner,.not his dog....
  12. Well done chartpolski for sourcing that lovely piece of film,..and Whippet x Grey for making it accessible.. Brought back so many memories... I was never a racing man,..but, several of my rabbiting pals turned to the game,..whilst I took another route,,...but,.I can certainly see the attraction that caused them to go,.'whippet mad'... Super thread lads,...great times,.great days,.long may they continue... All the best,..CHALKWARREN...
  13. Don't think there is a universal going rate Jack.. It all depends on the area that you work in,.and of course, the financial situation of your clients. Some folk I work for, are multi millionaires,.whilst others are less well heeled... I would agree that it is always best to keep busy , as opposed to turning down work, simply because of a few quid difference,.but,..speaking personally,..I have been in the mole and rabbit control business for a long while,.. and I believe that the secret to survival and longevity,..is to be both adaptable,.and flexible.... Bottom line is,..we do,
  14. hi, whats the stamina like on these dogs and temperment Temperament is usually first class,..these canine athletes have to fit in, and perform in front of an eager crowd of racing enthusiasts,..and on a warm Summer's day, the whippet fraternity, don't hold back Not much use in the racing game for dogs that cannot handle the stress, and noise of a day's racing. However,..I do not think these 'specialist bred' jukels can be compared to a purpose bred LURCHER... But, I may well be wrong...
