  1. OK Guys,.its Friday night, and we have all had the craic... Personaly, I would rate any man, who has worn the uniform and gone off to protect MY country,..so congrats to you all... History ,.(and personal experience) tells me that words will be said, that you lads might regret in the morning,.so we will end it here.. All the best, Chalkwarren...
  2. Well, as a well known expert, in carpentry,... This is one I made earlier...
  3. Not everyone can be a hard man,..and, not every dog, is capabul of handling certain tasks,...End of...
  4. Too right....in fact,..due to recent events.... My mindset has changed,...and now, I am officially a Hedge Crawler x Moucher,...a wee rabbit here, and a wee rabbit there... Mutts R us...will do me nicely,...I don't need anything lethal,..I know my place.... All the best,,..Chalkwarren...
  5. This is a query that comes up on a perennial basis,..and is definitely worthy of debate....
  6. By the very nature of their game,.the Coursing and Racing dogs,..the 'Match Dogs and the famous Track Stars"..will of necessity, have to perform and walk the walk in front of an audience... And as my old rabbiting pal and whippet racer used to say, 'You cannot lie when the stop watch is being held'.... So,..a lot of what goes on,..just goes on,..and other than a close knit bunch of guys being in the know,..there must be plenty of fabulous days and nights out, undertaken by good honest jukels, that few folk get to see... As for legends,..well,..I think as keen hunting men, we would all

Great news,..and anyone of us could suffer from the same malady,...but, would we all show the same courage..... Get well soon fellah,...enjoy a warm, relaxing Summer on your back,...and think of the great hunting days and nights,.. yet to come All the best, PL.
  10. No offence fellah,...but I think that old saying is full of ambiguities,.. There are certainly a fair few dogs that , whilst one could never call them bad, are not going to be suitable, as hunting partners..and no matter what you put into them,..it just ain't gonna produce what you require...and that is the truth...
  11. That was a most informative and erudite post Tiercel...
  12. Many thanks for your most interesting, and well presented enquiry Fireman... I always preferred, the first cross ACD,...I only hunt a few rabbits,..so they were more than adequate for that task... If my quarry was different,..my choice might be different....but it ain't
  13. Bill got a right flogging for deer poaching,..."not a lota people know that"....
  14. This is a difficult one... Some dogs are overtly submissive,..that is just the way they are, and in a pack situation,.that is the way they survive... However, if you believe that the poor wee tyke was battered in a previous life,..well you can only treat this problem with kindness and patience. As you approach her,.try to almost ignore her,..try not to tower over her in the manner of a larger dog (difficult with a small terrier I know)... But,..just try to keeps things real matter of fact, 'calm and collected',....everything nice and slow.. Give her the confidence she lacks.... A
  15. Seen a fair few working Kelpies,...can't say that any were overly aggressive,.just assertive, and not prepared to take any shit. This is necessary for a working dog,..they have to be the boss over the stock,.or it will get messy... Maybe the problems that folk have witnessed, have arisen from Kelpie bloodlines that are not from pure working stock ? My good pal Dave Cooper has a splendid male Kelpie, and its litter mate (a bitch Kelpie) have both produced some quality animals. I do believe that this type of rabbiting/mouching cur has a definite place, in the UK lurcher scene... I a
  16. C'mon now Simon,...my career choice has left its mark on me...
  17. Yeah,..I like my dogs to be as ripped as myself,....
  18. That is a lovely piece of ground to have a mouch,...nothing much like it in my area... Good effort with the filming,..but,..for me,...the entire experience would have been enhanced, with some nice Cajun or similar music,.but feck it,..what do I know,...I am extremely, extremely old... ATB, CW...
  19. These three ingredients are ideal for a rabbiting/ferreting cur,..and I prefer them in my own stock...
  20. I only have old B/W pics of my stock,...nice to see the Red Speckle in vivid colour, once again.....
  21. Yeah,.you certainly get your moneys worth out of em...
  22. Cleo was bred from Rufus, a Merle coloured Border Collie dog, and a Greyhound bitch..
