  1. A deer hound would be NO good out there, the heavy coat is NO good for the climate, = you have poisonous, Ticks, that can bite your hound rough coat or smooth, makes no difference to the deadly tick, the animals blood turns to water, ITs called BIlliry, yes you can put a special tick collar on, but they can latch on to the dogs tail or under its soft parts, next is the ground, its rock hard, a sand, small hard grains, you can get a real heavy downpour, and within a few hours you would not know it had rained, you can buy a proper Boerhound, (( windhound, that is seasoned to the climate, and c

Ok it could be a bit long winded, my first dog was a terrier, (( wired hair fox terrier x a smooth jack russel bitch,))) he was a dog smooth coated, and he lived outside, in a Tea chest, ply is about eighth thick covered, with roofing felt,I was about 9 years old when I received him from a neighbour, he lived in that box summer and winter, Half filled with oat straw, He was great ratter, set burrows when ferreting, and go to ground for foxes, and wanted to fight with all the largest dogs in the neighbourhood, and most of my lurchers lived, in a shed with bench's about 2ft off the ground, on a

  15. If you value your dog, try and avoid that type of terrain, why invite large vet bills??? some times its impossible to avoid, like 2 weeks back, my brindle bitch, landed on top of barb wire, of a treble fence, she was caught right up in the groin, both sides, it will take another week for the deepest rip and hole to heal properly, so that's 3 to 4 weeks out of action, she is bred for fast work, when they hit an obstacle or fence wire at speed it can be nasty, or just a root facing the wrong way can be deadly, this happened on a Sunday I took the bitch, to the vets on the Monday morning, to get a

They never caught the man coursing, His van was parked near-by, ex police man turned wild life officer, they Fabricated a case, threatened, to Ban him from keeping dogs, that case went on for almost 6 months, yes and he had one case against him for coursing in the same court, He really thought they were going to Ban him, due to the Fabrication of the case, one man against Three other so called witnesses,The Prosecutor, was wanting the Ban his solicitor was objecting to the ban, The case was stacked against him from the start to the finish,, Scotlands courts are run by the Lairds, only in 1960
  19. The Saluki x thrives in the home environment, the down side of it is when they are mud and a bit of claret, I put her through the shower, I have a couple of towels just for the dogs, extremely clean about the house, and they are more safer from the thieving scum, as for work, they are mad for it,, the down side is when you come to have a litter of pups, she would have to go to the shed then,(((((( in my younger days they were on the outside, in the kennel,

  22. I think I have posted this before, since 1958 to present day I have kept running dogs, In all that time, I have never seen LUNGWORM, I have never heard of any one with that infection, Last year, I went to a Vets in a small Border town Called Longtown, in Cumbria, I purchased, 6 worm tablets, for to dose my two, 3each to the two dogs I asked the question, about this Lungworm, he openly said, only one case has been reported in the whole of the UK, that was down in Surrey or Sussex, He then went onto say with out doubt it will eventually, move North, I asked what is the symptoms, that I should w
  23. Someone on THL, does not like the truth, Brookie, wrote a post telling the truth about a certain member on this thread, the truth how his dog killed a leveret, the size of rabbit, Now brookies post has disappeared, that is totally wrong, why should a members post, be deleted?????? especially when it was the truth about the match,
  24. everyman to his own way of Hunting, first a daytime dog, has to have pace, stamina, and a coursing brain, and able to recover quickly from a hard run, I like my dogs to retrieve to hand, able to jump fences, ditches, hunt the rough, and if need be to hunt a wood, and push its quarry out into the open, then do its job, my dogs in the past have made light work, of putting the Roe deer to bed, (((( all under Pre-Ban,))) all daylight, Now the Lamping, dog or bitch, as a Pup recall, like all other dogs recall is Number 1 retrieving a dummy to hand, educate the youngster to the countryside,, just li
