Favored Line Of Border Collies For Lurcher Crosses?
border lad replied to Dan McDonough's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
we used to breed from the Hill collie, they were the leggy type generally smooth coated and would face anything man, or beast, of course very intelligent, stamina,((( those dogs were used around Moffat and the Lanarkshire hills, great eye and strong feet, + there nose, could stand up to any weather, graft all day for a pat on the back +there bowl of food at night, put them over a good coursing greyhound bitch, they always said the first cross was the best,(((( -
my type of bitch, you have her in top condition, I hope she has the pace for you, and she can use those gears like a well tuned sports car, I see she still has a small bit of knuckle, left in one of those photos, very smart a credit to you and the breeder,

Update On My Minkenry Pointer Lurcher
border lad replied to Minkenry's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
A Very good thread, about the pup, I think she is in top nick, dont forget she has a trace of saluki , and pointer blood in the genes, those two do not carry alot flesh over there Frame, Again for myself I believe the lad is on top of his animal husbandry, again Well done to the lad to his ability to train the Mink to work and to domesticate its working manner, again well done, -

I was in his yard once, back in the early 1990to91 some time around those dates, His yard was a bit rough, a few sheep rib cages lying around and some old rear tractor tyres, I think some of his young dogs was sleeping in them, I was trying to have a conversation, with him about his breeding, mostly strong Irish terrier, through greyhound, dogs stood around 24" short coupled, good coats on them that was there + point to me ((( but not my type of Lurcher, I said would you put a bit of Saluki through them, he gave me a look that would that would mean death to you, I was well dressed, He must ha

I had a bitch, Collie whippet/greyhound, Red fawn, called Tinker,, only 23" early 70s she could hunt a field as good as as any springer spaniel, and retrieve to hand or up into the van, I could direct her to go to the right hand side of the field or the left, just one wee story, working on the M6 Penrith Carlisle section,I used to take her to work with me, she had been lying in the van all day stretched out across the front seats, On our way home, I knew a good stubble field just off the Motorway, which was all under construction,, I said to the boys i will just put the wee dog over this
